I'm torn! So the drive thru took 40 minutes to get our food, right? We were asked to pull around to the front, as were a bunch of others behind us. Then there were some that got their orders immediately. I have to assume they only ordered drinks/shakes. As we were sitting in the front parking lot waiting, I noticed there was only one cook in the backend (the manager) and two frontend guys. Which explains why the kitchen got so backed up. There were also people in the dining area waiting for food as well. Our food finally came out and it was hot from the kitchen. My patty melt didn't have cheese or bacon on it though, it was plain (I didn't order it plain though). Our fries were over cooked but that's how my husband tends to prefer his anyway. I know they were trying to make the best of the situation and it sucks they didn't have much help on their shift tonight. Hopefully it's not always like this, perhaps some callouts. Or maybe it's always like this as we have found at most restaurants these days. Seems like there's nobody wanting to work. Either way, I'll give them an extra star because of their effort since the frontend guys DID communicate that they had not forgotten about us and it was going to be coming out, eventually. Unfortunately, I have to recommend to keep driving past this location if your stomach can help it, it was a bit of wasted time/money since we were trying to beat the impeding storm (which we got caught in, it was a doozy!). read more

Above average in terms of small town DQ standards. Service was fast, food was good (they have a good cook here!), and one of the employees brought out the dip cones we ordered for after our meal without us even having to ask....rare service! Would be 5 stars if not for the flys. Maybe this is a seasonal July thing, but they were plentiful and love DQ food. Just a quick thought in small town DQs....well I guess most every DQ I have tried is like this. They build a restaurant 30+ years ago and make zero updates to it ever since. Would it be too much to update a bathroom fixture, flooring, etc? Either DQ owners and the corporate office are not investing the profits or there is very little profit to go around. Would love to see some DQ remodels and nicer bathrooms in the future on TX roads. If not these DQs we love will be quarantined at some point within he next 10 years. read more

This place is "HOTEL CALIFORNIA". If are in a hurry, or just driving through DO NOT STOP HERE. We waited 40 minutes with only 2 people in front of us. 3 staff members. Total dysfunction, confusion and lack of communication. They also gave the guy in front of us his blizzard BEFORE his food and it was melted. So I was headed across Texas with a car load of kids who had been camping for three days, and if there is something that they will all harass you for it is a stop at Dairy Queen. It was that time of the day where we needed to stop somewhere to feed our group and so I relinquished to the youth in the car and stopped here, how bad could it be? Well first of all, if you are trying to make it down the highway, plan on some extra time here. Nothing came out very quickly even though the staff looked like they were working very hard. My burger was ok, but was not really something I feel I need to eat again. There is not a lot in this area, so I guess the lesson learned is to stop in Vernon or Childress and keep on driving through Chillicothe. read more

Decided to stop in for a quick snack since it wasn't busy inside the restaurant. There was only one other family inside. I ordered a dipped cone and jalitos. They made the dipped cone quick however I waited and waited patiently for the jalitos. I saw the cook place them on the self where the other orders were completed. 5 minutes pass 10 minutes pass 15 minutes pass meanwhile I begin to noticed the hundreds of flies flying around. Great food! Would definitely give 5 when assistance is given to the lovely woman that was the only one at the register. Bless her! I shoulda got her name to commend her dedication to her line of work and the amount of multi tasking she gives! Two other employees aside from her (one was the cook, other was delivering food to tables). Phone was ringing and ringing at one point and hands down, you know when you are slammed when you hear "worry about getting these folks taken care of in here first, if they need something they can come down and get it". Small town where everybody knows everybody or so it felt that way and I loved that because it just gave off that warm and loving vibe of the community. We would come back. I pray that hard work like what this staff of 3 demonstrates doesn't go un noticed! Saw a sherrif and some locals greeting him while he was waiting in line. We came through town needing a quick bite and get back in our motorcycles. There were 6 of us The 1st couple got their food and were almost through and the other 4 of us waited 30 minutes longest for ours. At 25mins I went to ask if there was a problem as there was only one other couple in the restaurant. I was greeted by a very unfriendly and rude cook. Food was just great, the cashiers were super sweet and helpful. They have signs on their doors mentioning Greg Abbot, and that they require masks indoors yet when a customer and his child came in and placed their order without masks nothing was said to him. Also not even the manager or the cooks wore masks, the only ones wearing masks were the two cashiers and most of the customers. That manager doesn't even follow the rules that is not ok!!! Came through when heading back from Santa Fe. Everything was okay until it took 30 minutes for a burger. The other food was cold and Hispanic female manager was put out with our order. We understand that it is Dairy Queen but if you take our money you should provide a service. It was so bad that people there orders behind us left before us. read more

Ahh, Texas the land where everything is bigger, Including this dumpster. Please for the survival of all that is loving, kind and merciful DO NOT EVEN think about hardly glancing at this establishment. It is full of flies (which makes sense) It literally has two-three people running it (which means that it takes an eternity to even get your food, which led to me witnessing an entire group of ten just angrily fleeing to the door). Also the ranch and water is not free which is insane, I would have been happy to buy some ranch for my chicken n' strips (which was the fastest thing they could make, also I thought the gravy was the ranch) but the line was too long. It looked like an overall mess this includes nearly every table being dirty, windows being coated of bird crap and dead flies on their window cill. Look don't get me wrong, most of these issues are due to poor management (insanely low amount of employees and loss of common sense). It wasn't that they were lazy it was just that they were outnumbered and you could tell that they were stressed out. Overall if you want to be "King of the Flies" be my guest but, if not please do not waste your time, money and health on this glorified dumpster. read more

Dairy Queen Ice Cream is good as always. Sat in the drive through no one asking for our order, no please wait no service. Then finally a voice says pull up after the car in front of you moves and make your order. We have stopped here before, and same super slow service. I guess that is just the way it is. Took over 20 minutes with only one person in front of us for 2 blizzards, 2 sundaes, 1 shake. When the girl came with our stuff she didn't say a word and immediately locked the window. If i I could give a zero starI would, I stopped at the Dairy Queen here and waited at the drive-through for someone to tell us to go ahead and order but no one got on the speaker so I moved close to the window and waited and the lady in there was sitting there staring at me while she was working on something and no one ever came to help us so when I called asked if something was wrong with the speaker she told me no The speaker wasn't working so I asked her then why after you saw me you couldn't come to the window and help me and she says as you can see I have a line of people and only two of us working, how can I see the line from where I'm sitting when there's a reflection on the window? And if that was the case then why didn't you come to the window after looking at me telling me that there is a line of people and I will be with you in a moment? So she proceeds to Ask me if I'm gonna sit there on the phone talking to her or if I'm gonna come back and then ask me what she should do, seriously? There are't a lot of choices (especially on a Sunday) along the long road from Wichita Falls to Amarillo, TX, so we were happy to find a Dairy Queen in Chillicothe right along US-287. We both ordered the Taco Salad, one with grilled chicken and one with crispy. The freshly made salads were excellent, especially the chicken which was done perfectly. The crispy taco bowls were super fresh and very good also. The service we got was as good as the food. And, of course, the dipped ice cream cones for desert were just what you would expect from DQ! read more
