We have ate here many times over the years and tonight was the worst food experience we can recall. My husband got the 10 oz sirloin and it was not even warm (ordered it well done and it was cooked as ordered but temperature was cooled off by the time it got to the table). His baked potato was also essentially cool. I got the chicken fried steak with the gravy on the side. She forgot the gravy which would have been fine but she didn't return to the table for at least 10 minutes for me to request it again. My baked potato was also cool to touch. My grandson got the 10 oz sirloin medium rare. His was so chewy he couldn't eat it and had visible gristle in one area. Bright spots were the appetizer fried onion (not sure what they call it there) was good other than the sauce was heavy on the horseradish, my daughter in law enjoyed the catfish, my son enjoyed the chopped steak and grandson's girlfriend said the fried chicken salad was good. We did sit upstairs. The bartender was polite but possibly too busy to also wait tables. She was disjointed in her service. She brought our salads with the meal and did not serve the bread that came with the meal. It will be a while before we try this again. read more

Terrible service. The girls were friendly but sat chatting and playing on their phones while our drinks were empty. I ordered a 10oz "ribeye" and asked for medium rare, what I got was a fatty skirt steak cooked all the way through. It was $30.... My husband ordered the New York strip which ALSO was not the correct cut but was at least medium rare. My brother in law ordered chicken fried chicken and the breading was unseasoned and undercooked. To call this place a steak house is nuts. Don't trust the nice looking pictures, they are years old and it is not like that here anymore. To add after a couple more returns here the steak is just not quality. It's inconsistent in favor and tenderness. One thing though I can't keep forgiving is their inability to cook the steak to the desired doneness. Even if half is good the other half will not. Very strange how they're able to fail that. Tonight the steak had to be sent back, but also tasted terrible, almost gamey. I only ate a few bites but was never asked for any feedback. I ordered grilled veggies for my side ( an upcharge ) and the veggies were okay. My hubby ordered his steak with French fries. I think the prices are pricey for what you get, so I would only go here for a special treat every once in awhile. It is a dim lit restaurant. This was the worst steak I've ever had in my life. Took my father here while he was visiting for what I thought was going to be a good steak. The interior of the restaurant is really cool and has a nice country feel to it. Our waitress I didn't get her name must've been having a bad day she was short and brash with us. Also charged us for a beer we didn't order. The food itself was just plain bad. Ordered the Jalepeno poppers for an app. They were definitely microwaved because they showed up a couple minutes later and were soft & mushy. I ordered the Ribeye with a salad and mashed potatoes. My father ordered the regular sirloin. The salad was standard nothing to talk about but my meal showed up about 50 seconds after I got my salad. The Ribeye was cooked fine but looked gray like it was boiled. Also I don't think it was a Ribeye or an extremely cheap cut. It had zero marbling in it and was extremely tough. I ate half of it and gave the rest to my dog. I don't think they seasoned either of our steaks. The mashed potatoes were unseasoned and lifeless as well. The bill was $100 for an app and two steaks. Which wouldn't really be bad if it was good but I'd stick to Texas Roadhouse in Lawton since there aren't any options in the area. read more

Been to Backdoor twice now with my wife and we LOVE the atmosphere! Both upstairs and downstairs seating is nice and cozy. The staff is friendly and quick. The food options are savory and they have a great array of appetizers. My only gripes have been consistently the cuts of meat themselves and how they are cooked: The ribeye was undercooked (asked for medium rare but received rare) and the fat wasn't marbled throughout the meat in a way that it could be eaten. It was extremely tough. I normally love the fat on a good steak. I'll consider trying it again, asking for medium. Furthermore I asked for a medium pork ribeye and the waitress brought it out very well cooked and let me know that they only cook it this way because it's pork... although I'm giving 3 stars due to my poor food experiences, I believe that this restaurant could be a 4 star depending on the night! read more

Aa My husband always gets New York strip and says the flavor is fantastic and it's cooked just right. I order seafood and always enjoy the flavor and presentation. On our recent visit I ordered salmon and thoroughly enjoyed the flavor and all that came with it-rock shrimp, green beans, tomatoes, gold potatoes. My 2 sides risotto and Brussels sprouts rounded out my meal nicely. The beet salad I started was beautifully presented, nicely portioned and tasty. Our server was attentive, helpful, patient as we chatted and had a pleasant demeanor. Overall a great experience that we will return to. My only disappointment was the magician. Its a bar and a restaurant. The staff is very inviting and friendly. I had the jumbo mozzarella sticks, you get 4 with marinara sauce. I also had the house salad, my main course was the 7 oz filet mignon and the loaded baked potato. I ordered my filet well done. Everything was delicious. I also had a sweet tea. No complaints. I was too full to order dessert. There are two bars, one on the 1st floor and the other is on the 2nd floor. As well two dining areas also, upstairs and downstairs. I was so excited based on the reviews & I was sadly let down on my visit. I do have to give props, this is one of he only restaurants around so when you don't have choices you don't have a choice. Inside super cool, rustic & lots of cool stuff to look at while your dining. There is an upstairs I did run up there to snap a few pics, there were a few bar patrons still finishing up what was left of their drinks. Service was mediocre. The beer came out after the salad. However the beer was in a frosty mug & oh so cold! Salad was bagged lettuce at the most. Bread & butter was good. Steaks come, I wanted medium rare, it was darn near well done & burnt on one side. This was such a fun find! Great steakhouse in a very unique old building. Great rustic decor and lots of seating. Had a very nice server. We drove an hour to eat supper here tonight and we are so disappointed in our food and our wait staff. We ordered the back door onion as an appetizer. The outer edge was crispy but the batter was raw in the middle. Taking it home to throw in my air fryer. We ordered the chicken fried steaks: After our food was brought out we had to ask for our salads. They came well after our meal was served. The chicken fry tasted fine but is half the size that it used to be. (I get it. Food cost has gone up) Another person with us ordered the chicken fry steak sandwich and the bread was so hard she had to take it apart to eat the meat and leave the bread. Through the meal we needed drink refills and I had to take our glasses to them to get something to drink. So sad to see this restaurant this way. They have been here for years and is a landmark in south west Oklahoma. It is a special treat for us to eat out and we are always disappointed when we spend our hard earned money and it isn't a good experience. Shrimp was grilled to perfection and a hearty serving over rice. Water was cold, wet, and on the rocks and our hometown waitress kept it coming all night long. Outside of that... it's a great find. The food, beer, and service were outstanding. They had a dinner-for-two special that was a great deal if both diners are steak fans. There were two of us. Between us, we had a pitcher of beer, served in ice cold frosty mugs, a shared appetizer, a steak dinner, and a rib platter. All were cooked as expected and a tasty treat.
