I was in line today and saw a young girl getting maliciously screamed at by what looked like her boss for not know a price for one item. Such a minor mistake taken to the extreme. In front of children as well. The poor girl was made to leave while she was in tears. As a mother of a young girl as well it hit a soft spot in my heart to see children getting treated terribly by a grown adult that is very aware of other ways to handle situations. I will not be going to such an establishment that doesn't respect their employees. Such disrespect from someone who should be a leader and teach people the right thing to do. Again, I'm biased because this is my childhood ice cream store, but hear me out. Hands down - I challenge anyone to show me a better lemon soft serve ice cream. It's absolutely divine. During my visit, they were closing for fall, so I purchased 4 quarts of ice cream. Threw it in an ice chest and drove back to Ohio. It made it and I'm stocked for months. Also, if you like fried food, this place nails it. Chicken strips, tenderloin sandwich, fried cheese balls. (Don't forget them!). This place is the classic Midwest diary bar. We visit family in Canton every year for the 4th of July and our trip is not complete without a visit to Hannam's Dairy Dream. This place is an institution. The ice cream is delicious and the price is right. Our favorite flavor is the lemon soft serve with candy crunch. Highly recommend. If you are not a peanut lover (skip the crunch!). Equally delicious are their sundaes and shakes. There are several tables outside where you can enjoy your frozen treat on a nice evening. read more

This is based on my experiences and if things change when I go back, I will be happy to change my rating. I would give this 3.5 stars, but as we all know that isn't possible on Yelp yet, so... Pros Cute little walk in ice cream place that has apparently been around for years. Their lemon ice cream is amazing. I had never heard of it before, but when I went in the first time was told this was their specialty and it lived up to the hype. Prices aren't bad considering the mom and pop aspect and the quality. Cons I have been a couple of times now when passing through Canton, and one thing that has been consistent is hhe terrible customer service. Hhe girls who work there act like they could care less and move at a snail's speed. Both times I have been here, my ice cream was almost just a thick soup...not really a thick consistency like you'd expect from ice cream. Maybe i have been when they are at the bottom of their batches, but still... Also, they only except cash, so be aware. read more

This small town, walk up ice cream (and food) restaurant is a long time favorite for my family. My wife and I have been coming here for over 25 years. Their lemon soft serve is THE BEST I have ever had. Anytime we are back in the area we make sure we work in a stop. Just a note for those not familiar with small town Illinois ice cream places, they close during the winter. So keep that in mind, and make sure they are open before stopping in. Also, get cash. So much awesomeness! I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. You get a lot of bang for your buck. Their "small" size is huge. You need a big appetite for the large sizes. My favorite treats include the blue goo ice cream, chocolate malt, snickers candy bar shake, and hot fudge sundae. On the days when I need some greasy, fried food I visit for cheeseballs or cheesesticks. Both awesome. The chicken strips are yummy as well. If you are dairy free, they have good slushies too. You can call ahead with your order if you don't want to wait around for your food. They are only open during ice cream weather. Hands down this is the best soft serve ice cream place in Canton. While they are only open for half of the year, they are constantly busy serving up ice cream cones, shakes, and sundaes. They also have a full grill menu with hamburgers, fries, onion rings, and chicken sandwiches. I really enjoy their slushy drinks and their candy shakes/malts. My favorite is probably the peanut butter cup malt with vanilla ice cream, although it's more of a blizzard type texture than a shake. They don't take credit cards so remember to bring your cash and if you go in the evening be prepared for a bit of wait, because they are usually quite busy. read more

Hannam's is a local favorite and for good reason! Their lemon ice cream is something special, their ice cream portions are almost ridiculous, and they have all the fried foods you can imagine. There is no seating indoors and the line can get pretty outrageous as the waiting area is a tight squeeze. Luckily there is also an ordering window out front. Picnic tables are available outside if you want to stick around and enjoy your treat. You can also call in your order ahead time (especially convenient if you're ordering food). But, be advised, they DO NOT accept debit or credit cards - CASH ONLY! This is the only beef I have with the establishment. Otherwise, it would be a 5 star local joint. read more

I like having this place as an option when looking for something quick in Canton BUT am constantly disappointed when I ask for ANYTHING extra...like ketchup mustard or pickles for gods sake! They look at you like you are a horrible dispicable person. Ask for extra mustard and pickles on the tenderloin and you get a schmere of mustard and 3 small pickle slices on a TINY bun...every time! Want extra packages of those to go and BAM...deer in the headlights. Maybe all the profit goes down the drain when they give those out ONE AT A TIME...rediculous. My usual bill is $10...might as well go to the local diner around the corner for that...at least they dont wince when you ask for condiments! Crazy. I feel like a horrible person because I want 3 packages of ketchup with my LARGE order of fries. But if you like softserve ice cream this is your place! I prefer real ice cream...hand dipped or nothing. read more
