Every course was delicious, beautifully prepared, and exceeded expectations. That alone would have made for a great evening. What truly made the experience exceptional, however, was our server, Kyle. Having managed fine dining restaurants myself and dined at many high-end establishments, I pay close attention to service. While this isn't marketed as fine dining, Kyle delivered a level of service that absolutely was. His attention to detail, professionalism, and cleanliness were second to none. After every course, he didn't simply clear plates... he thoroughly cleaned and reset the table with a level of care and precision that I honestly haven't seen from a server in a very long time, anywhere. Every detail was handled seamlessly, making each course feel like a fresh dining experience. Kyle elevated an already fantastic meal into a truly memorable one. Restaurants can teach the mechanics of service, but genuine hospitality and pride in your work are much harder to find. Kyle clearly has both. The kitchen deserves compliments for an excellent meal, but Kyle deserves recognition for providing some of the best service I've experienced in years. He's a tremendous asset to your restaurant, and I hope his hard work is recognized.

The Kare-Kare is still just as amazing as I remembered. I love that they rotate their menu, which gave us the perfect excuse to try a few new dishes this time around: Fishballs (4.75/5): These had a great texture that felt more like a fish cake, and the sauce pairing was delish Crab Rice (4.5/5): Really enjoyed this! It had a delicious flavor and a rich, risotto-style consistency NY Strip (4/5): A solid, basic steak. Nothing incredibly unique about it, but it was still well-cooked and tasty Eggplant Omelette / Tortang Talong (3.75/5): Decent, but this one just wasn't particularly to my personal taste. Ube Cheesecake (3/5): You can definitely taste the authentic ube flavor, but the texture was a bit grainy and the sweetness level was a little too high for me. Note on drinks: We tried the Watermelon Lemonade, Mango Guava, and Thai Iced Tea, they all lean quite sweet, which isn't my personal preference, and they serve coffee from Lavazza. But my friends enjoyed their bevs! Still one of my absolute go-tos in the area

The meat was tender from start to finish and the broth was aromatic and not oily. We were a party of 10 and everyone's dishes looked amazing, especially the rice and bun dac biet dishes!! Service was also 10/10, super patient and kind with a large party. It was my grandma's birthday so everyone wished her well and was super kind. They went above and beyond to make her feel special and sung louder than us when we sang her happy birthday with cake! Overall, my com tam (rice) special tastes decent, nothing wow. The pho lacks a flavor in broth. The meat in the spring roll had gone bad. When we bit into it, we can taste the meat is spoiled. It's gross. We have to ask for the several dish to be removed and reordered something else. Two people in our party ordered the same dish where spring rolls were served and both complained about it. The employee thought it may be undercooked and took the spring rolls to re-cook it. Again, it tastes the same. Note: Watch out for their chili oil. Omg, it's extra spicy and this is coming from a gal who can handle spice well. The che (old dessert) is good. Parking is available in the plaza and off street.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant, and I would definitely recommend trying it if you're…read moreconsidering it! They rarely disappoint, except today on one tiny thing: the cornbread. Unfortunately, the short rib bao buns, my favorite item, were also sold out. I have been here several times, and this time they changed the size of the cornbread. Before, you got a whole cornbread muffin, but now you only get half for the same $6. Half a piece of cornbread is kind of ridiculous. It's barely two bites. The service and ambiance were as amazing as always, but the cornbread portion was disappointing. The flavor was amazing as usual, but the size change felt a little greedy. I know the menu changes often, so please bring back the old portion size. Thank you!

(Dined/Drank 09/22/2026 TU @ 5:00pm): A tiki bar "hidden" in this cellar located at 335 Newark Ave!…read more In my quest to explore the various cuisine scenes and things to do throughout Jersey City and specifically the Heights, I was excited to visit the only tiki bar in the area... Cellar 335. If you knew me, I was all about the tiki culture, aloha shirts, boardshorts, and flip-flops. So, when I found out about this place at the 2025 All About Downtown Street Fair, I made a point to get here the next time I was in town. Founded by renowned chef Jamie Knott and business partner Bob Palmer in 2016, they were celebrating their 10-year anniversary as of this review. Would I return to this cellar address for some exotic escapism!? PURCHASE(S) Brain Freeze Frozen Daiquiri Cocktail ($5.00 HH): Made with Probitas rum, lime, and spirulina, this was an interesting intro to this place, but I rolled with it. I loved the color while the drink itself was fine. Korean Style Chicken Wings w/Garlic-Soy 6pc ($10.00 HH): Honestly, these were da bomb! Plump, an amazing crispy crunch, and juicy tenderness paired with the finger-licking sauce I chose, one order was perfect, but another would've been diabolically perfect! Avocado Fried Rice Shared Plate ($10.00 HH): Made with napa cabbage, egg, sesame, and soy sauce all topped with thin slices of avocado, I was pleasantly surprised by the portion size, the tastiness of this dish, and the avocado added such an intriguing flavor. Fried rice shouldn't be praised to the tiki gods, but this dish deserved to be!I wasn't sharing this with anyone. Shaken Daiquiri Cocktail ($5.00 HH): A straight-up daiquiri made with light rum, lime, and sugar, it wet my whistle, but I wanted something more. Mango Crusader Cocktail ($14.00): Made with mango, allspice, citrus, and rum, you had me at mango! Seriously, this tropical elixir was mangonificent! Coconut Buster Cocktail ($14.00): Made with guava, almond, orange, coconut, and rum, the almond flavor (orgeat?) stood out the most for me... and I was fine with that. Housemade Cornbread Snack ($6.00): Made with honey, butter, parmesan, and scallion, this was the furthest from anything tiki, but this tropical take on a southern peasant dish did right by me with its moistness and the dried coconut shavings. SERVICE I was warmly greeted by a friendly woman whom I believed was the manager, and a young man fresh on the job behind the bar when I casually staked a barstool close to the end of the bar. While my drinks and food orders, respectively, were dealt with swiftly, the woman provided cool information about the place. After a couple hours of enjoying the atmosphere, I settled the bill and said my salutations - mahalo! PARKING (FREE; N/A this instance): This was a moot point since I walked the flat 20-minute distance from my friend's place. No parking lots in sight, there seemed to be random spots along the main drag of Newark Ave. and all surrounding side streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A cavernous-like dark spacious cellar with a festive long bar directly on your left and a room filled with a ton of tables and some cool framed pictures and murals on the walls. Minimal natural lighting came through the front door and windows while dim electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I didn't notice any TVs nor recall any background music except for the growing conversations as people rolled in. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in an aloha shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I would definitely return to Cellar 335 to try more of their cocktail concoctions and delectable dishes. I lived a sort of tiki lifestyle, this place did a very good job representing that, and they were the only tiki-specific place in town as far as I knew. Also this first visit was strictly to check out the limited happy hour (MO-TH 5pm-6pm), I was sold on what they were offering. I loved the two dishes and traditional tropical cocktails I ordered, but the daiquiris kind of fell flat for me. The prices were elevated, the service was friendly and personal, and the experience was chill and laid back (as it should be!) as I spoke with strangers who sat next to me. Oddly enough, I felt the place wasn't kitschy enough. Plus, I always preferred to support small mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $69.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

From the moment we walked in, the owner personally seated us and ended up cooking our food himself. He has a quirky, memorable personality that adds to the charm of the whole experience. It's the kind of place where you can tell the food is made with intention rather than being rushed out of a big commercial kitchen. The dishes were packed with flavor and tasted very authentic. You can really tell the ingredients and spices are balanced the way Thai food should be -- bold, savory, a little spicy, and deeply satisfying. Everything we ordered had great texture and presentation as well. Overall, it was a unique dining experience with authentic flavors and a memorable host. If you're looking for a polished corporate restaurant this isn't it -- but if you want something personal, quirky, and genuinely delicious, Prince & I is absolutely worth visiting. Would definitely come back!!

A tiny restaurant with BIG flavors!…read more I honestly did not expect the food to be this amazing! It's a small and unassuming restaurant from the outside, but the food is anything but ordinary. Our waitress was so lovely, sweet, and welcoming, and she gave us some great recommendations. I went with the Hokkaido Scallop Crudo and the Mushroom Noodle, which was a new item and both were absolutely delicious! My friend ordered the Filet Mignon Banh Mi Sando, and she absolutely loved it. Everything came out so flavorful that we basically forgot about taking pictures and just devoured our food. Honestly, the fact that I have zero pictures might be the best review I can give. First, the decor inside is really nice. Whoever handled the interior design did an excellent job. Really dope ambiance with the walls and lighting. To start, we ordered the Vegan Summer Rolls. This was really really good. Love how the rolls were generously filled with veggies. Made eating with chopsticks a little tougher, but a challenge worth pursuing. For the veggie meal, I went with the Crispy Eggplant. This is worth coming back for. It was a very generous portion, but you got a lot of kick with the five spice and the extra chili. Even though it's just eggplant, it fills you up without any doubt. Unfortunately, my other half wanted to try the prawns and it was a bit too difficult for her to eat because it was overcooked. Also, we tried the ube tiramisu and didn't really feel the fusion elements in it. It was okay, just nothing special. I'll come back for the eggplant and the summer rolls. If there's another veggie option in the fall, I may consider that. TBD on whether my other half will return though. 4 for me overall, but with caveats.
