I recently required a wheelchair ramp to be installed in my living room. Daizo was a pleasure to work with. He did a terrific job designing and constructing a plywood ramp for my sunken living room so that a wheelchair could easily navigate to the upper level. He moved furniture as necessary and also assembled a new desk for me. The ramp looks very professional and suits our needs very well. Daizo was very accommodating and considerate. May be he does a good work on remodeling. But the first phone call was already a big turn off. I first off introduced myself and a little bit about what I wanted to do for my property on the phone with him. The he goes "First of all, I'm not cheap. I do a great job and it's very expensive." Then I said "How would I know what is *expensive*?". After I mentioned about the size of my kitchen (117 sqft), then he goes "I charge from $50,000 for a small kitchen. Like I said, I'm not cheap. I'm not like other Asians. I charge 5 times more than they do...". I felt he's kind of arrogant and didn't feel comfortable at all. If he posted somewhere that he charges for at least $50,000 for a small kitchen, then I wouldn't have even wasted my time to call him. I could understand some people can be quite proud of themselves and their profession but sometimes just a little bit of modesty is always appreciated. I believe he is the face of his business. His work could be top-notch but his attitude toward a potential customer was not professional. That one itself could bring his business rating to 3 star out of 5 even before any committed job is done. To be honest, I'd rather pay a few thousand dollars to a cheap Asian contractor to do a decent job that I'm satisfied with than paying an arrogant contractor $50,000 to do a *perfect* job. read more

Daizo is a skilled handyman and a real professional with communication, preparation and the execution of our task. We had a new door installed last year and it was sticking badly. It is a high quality manufactured door. which apparently did not get a high quality installation. Rather than removed the door and trim it, he adjusted the door jam on all sides, added some shimming (which you don't see at all) and replaced the shorter screws with longer screws from the hinges into the frame. He took this approach to keep from disturbing the factory sealing of the door. Now the door glides open and closed with no effort and even better, no sound. He set up the work site to protect our floors and cleaned up thoroughly before leaving. He was also quite friendly. We are very pleased and are looking forward to our next project with Daizo. read more

I was frantically looking for a handyman to come out the same day to fix my shower faucet which abruptly stopped working. I was referred to Diazo, who was available to come out same day (during quarantine) and assist. After talking with Diazo, he ended up walking me through the steps to turn off the water to the house, and remove and replace the faucet cartridge over the phone. Diazo was very accommodating and patient with me; waiting for me to send him pictures of my progress if I had questions while we were on phone, and clarified what I needed to purchase, and how to put everything back together. Diazo saved me a lot of money by walking me through the steps to fix myself, and kept us both at a safe social distance. I would highly recommend Diazo, who has proved to be incredibly knowledgeable and honest, and will absolutely use him again in the future! read more

Daizo was very good. He took a long time to help me fix two dishwashers. He used his method to make the machine's rotor work again, which saved me a lot of money. Afterwards, he said that there was no charge for the time being, and he asked me to use the dishwasher for a while, and if the dishwashers continueworking that it is OK, I would charge! Daizo has done several jobs for us, larger and smaller. He has added a double door between bedrooms (including moving some electrical stuff), replaced the water heater, repaired gutters and downspouts, repaired a major plumbing leak in the master bath. He also consulted with us after problems with new wood floors (from another contractor), giving us a plan to get the job done properly. He is always thoughtful and thorough, and asks great questions to make sure the job will go well. He is impeccably neat, always puts down drop cloths, vacuums after a dusty job, takes great care moving furniture. Daizo is absolutely our go-to guy when we need something done here. He is a licensed contractor, but willing to do the smaller stuff too. A real gem. read more

This guy was completely rude. He accused me of being rich because of my location, and when I told him I was at a school in a very rich area, he accused me of being deceiving about a public works project. My department is not supported by tax dollars and this was not a public works project, he again, accused me of being deceptive. Like the other reviewer, he implied I was undermining wages. He swore I could get this granite cut by the fabricator, and I was just trying to get around that price. Then he berated me for spending tax money on granite. I bought the whole package, cabinets and counter for less than $1,500.00, and for that price, Cypress Home Decor (fantastic place) doesn't deliver or cut holes in the granite. But he insisted I was lying and just trying to undermine his wages. Ironically, I'm a union president. LOL. read more

I am very impressed with this company. The owner, Daizo pays great attention to detail in all his work and is friendly and personable. He is very reliable and has reasonable prices. He did a re-model to my grandmother's home and was very knowledgable about modifications that would make the house safer and easier for my grandma to use such as a custom rail in her garage and backyard so she can walk safely. I wish I had paid attention to the reviews by Francesco, Blanche and Carlos! When I initially hire Dai-Ichi I felt positive about him; he seems like a nice guy. Sadly, he did not meet expectations. I won' t belabor the point, but what Francesco, Blanche and Carlos had to say in their reviews was similar to my experience. I am sad and disappointed. One note: he asked me to sign a contract that had no completion date. I signed, but I recommend that others do not; it is ill-advised. Hire with caution. read more

I wish I could give a quick review but I can't. I have been working with Daizo for a number of years now and it's just a matter of time before I'll ask him about another project. Is he cheap? No, but I am cheap (I'll do it myself if I can) and I think I have gotten great value out of this Swiss army knife of a contractor. He's the first contractor I've met whose work is not only good but also elegant (elegant roof flashing. I was shocked.) When I need sage advice and have a real "problem" project, he is my go to guy. Again, as someone who is cheap, Daizo was able to give me options as to where I could skimp and where I really needed to invest on better materials. The projects Daizo has worked on for me are rather diverse and include: * Rebuilding my back room from the mudsill to the roof which included new lamps, wiring and plumbing. Part of this was a new large custom window and creating custom siding to match the 1912 exterior. Termite damage and rot required EVERYTHING be replaced. * Bolting the back room to the foundation (it was floating!) and putting in additional floor supports. * Redirecting my sewer line (you don't want to know) The list above hardly describes the amount of time spent crawling around in my attic and under my house or all the little jobs that go into these larger projects. Thanks to Daizo's help, my house is repaired. It looks better and is more structurally sound than it was before. read more
