Our first experience at Dae Gee was exceptional. Elena, along with Michael and Kai provided excellent service and made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was intimate and clean. We all got the Swine Dining and omg it was soooo much food and all delicious. We loved the soup and sides and especially the short rib, scallops and pork. It even came with salad, wings, kimchi, and gyoza! The fried rice is pretty good. Everything was a hit and we didnt feel rushed. The staff was so so nice. read more

If you've never had authentic Korean food you wouldn't know the difference but if you have I wouldn't come here the food was ok but I've had waaay better in other SA locations. We ordered the Galbi n mackerel which was overly salty I couldn't even eat it I've never had it this salty ever. The Galbi wasn't the best either the side dishes were even less impressive. Me and my husband will continue going to Koreana or Chas for authentic Korean food. Very disappointing food but the service however was awesome!! This is definitely one of the better kbbq spots here in SA. It does run on the pricier end, but the quality and experience makes up for the cost. You can choose to do a la carte or the ayce option. There are two tiers for the ayce: pig out ($38) or swine dine ($48). I'd recommend going with the swine dine if you're eating here because the pig out is not really worth your bang for your buck. (There are other kbbq spots in SA that are cheaper for what you can get for the same meats as pig out and the quality of the meats are not really that much better for the cost.) You can order as many things as you want for the ayce, and it is all cook-yourself. Service is good and the waiters are very attentive to check up on how you're doing. My only complaint, which is a common complaint going to kbbq, is that the ventilation system/fans are not the best, so you'll definitely smell like meat after leaving here. For the premium price point, I expected the ventilation system to be much better. Overall a great experience, which above average food! read more

Dae Gee hit the spot. The flavors are legit Korean BBQ, but with a little Texas flair that actually works. The meats were well-marinated, slef-cooked (also can order cooked), and fresh. The food was fresh and plentiful with the Pig Out AYCE option, service was fantastically attentive and pricing was just right! Other places are loud, obnoxious and overly crowded. You know the chain ones that I'm talking about. And other places in town are dirty and rundown. This place was just perfect. Review from a Korean person's perspective this was a disappointing experience. I saw some great reviews which heightened my expectations. Unfortunately, maybe the reviews were from people who never had good Korean food or first time trying. We got the unlimited dinner (weekend) menu, where they offer you a little bit of all the meats. The beef brisket and regular pork belly was literally 2 pieces and the rest being everything marinated. The marination on all the meats had the same base with some being a little more spicy. After a while, we were so tired of the marination flavor. I think they can add more unmarinated meat to try. Next part to call out is their tiny portions of side dishes (banchan) which is traditional at Korean bbq. The two tiny pieces of Korean pancakes really made me laugh! The refills that you ask for is better than the start. I can tell the rice and the side dishes were old by appearance and taste. I'm on a weekend getaway with my wife. We had just come out of a massage and spotted Dae Gee across the parking lot. Checked Yelp and found stellar reviews, so we decided to stop in. Decor and ambiance is spot on and festive. It feels intimate and a little dim, which is perfect for date night. Tables were beautiful. My wife noticed them immediately. We were promptly greeted and seated by the hostess, who gave us a quick intro to the menu. Our waitress Gabby was absolutely fabulous and super patient in walking us through the menu and the process. I have had Korean BBQ once or twice, but my wife is new to the experience. I. asked a lot of questions and she was the sweetest and smiled through it all. She was very familiar and fluent with the menu and had zero struggle with pronouncing or remembering anything. A+! The owner Tommy also stopped by to say hello and check in, which was a very nice touch. The food was great. All we could eat and then some. Everything was fresh and delectable. As an East Coast native with a Korean stepdad, I often crave authentic Korean food without having to fly to NYC or drive up to Dallas. This spot in Stone Oak (on the corner of Blanco and Huebner) scratch that itch. *No pics this time because I was too hungry to play photog* We walked in early on a Saturday evening--easy parking and immediate seating by Tommy, the owner, who recently relocated from Denver to bring K-BBQ to San Antonio. Smart move considering this is Military City, USA. If they ever extend their hours, this place will easily become a late-night go-to for a bunch of service members. The bar isn't heavy on premium liquor, but that's to be expected--this is a soju and beer kind of joint. My Vampiro cocktail was a bit sweet, but Tommy came through with limes and a bonus vodka shot, which shows he's a pro at customer service. My husband had a Sapporo, and thanks to ordering two drinks, we scored a free lychee soju-- all we do is win, win, win. My family of four went all-in with the $48/pp Swine Dining option, which basically covers the whole menu. BLUF: Wings: Garlic soy needed seasoning in the meat; mango gochujang was the favorite according to the rest of my family. Cheese corn: Fine, but forgettable since it was just corn under a melted (Oaxaca or mozz(?)) cheese. Mandu: Flavorful filling and fried perfectly, likely not housemade, but still satisfying. Kimchi jjigae: Lacked the sourness--needed more fermentation. Banchan: Surprisingly decent. The baechu kimchi and oi kimchi were tasty, if a bit young/underfermented. My husband raved about the eomuk bokkeum (fish cake). Daikon was basic but a safe choice if you love the radish. BBQ meats & seafood: Service was fast and attentive. Galbi and scallops were standouts. Bulgogi, shrimp, and spicy chicken were decent but felt like they shared the same base marinade, just spiced up with gochugaru/gochujang. Pork belly was too thin/skimpy and the other meats just didn't make an impact. Our servers, Jacob and Alex, were fantastic--on point, friendly, and efficient. With a military discount, great service, generous portions, and an overall satisfying meal, we left stuffed and happy, and feeling welcomed by Tommy who was helping his staff and engaging with customers all evening. It has the typical KBBQ setup with the rectangular gas grills on the table. Some might be circular, ours wasn't. Some of the seats are really close to your neighbor and I don't think I would like that for 2 hours. We ordered the AYCE. The Banchan was ok, I had to order about 5 potato salads because they were so small, and that's ok. Cheese corn was a little watery for my liking, the cucumber kimchi was great. The issue for me is they give you all the meats. I just wanted some beef and some pork. I was compelled to eat all this extra food that I'm not too fond of. The experience here was just ok! With the many options now in town for Korean bbq this place is falling short on my list I came here with a picky friend which made the experience even more bad. I never look at the utensils which I probably should! She was holding the fork with so many grease stains on it. It took for ever to get a new set of utensils... We showed up on Valentine's Day,!I was able to call in & save our seats with a 30 minute wait time... we showed up and waited about 10 minutes then got seated..the nice lady up front was super sweet.. Alex was our waiter.. it was busy, we had to remind him several times on some of the items we ordered. But, we understood bc it was a bit busy. The owner Tommy came to our table and just made everything so much better... he brought us the dishes we asked for and brought us jalapeños I had asked for previously but I was told they didn't have any by the waiter. I like this resto. Food was fresh and seemed healthy without being overly spicy. My friend ordered chicken dumplings and tofu soup both of which were good. Then we got the bibimbap, japchae and mackerel. I liked the bibimbap the best out of the three entrees. My friend really liked the mackerel and appreciated the way it was cooked. I personally didn't like the texture or taste so much. Japchae was okay. Other side dishes were good as well, especially the pickled fish and the salad. Service was prompt.
