My Korean friends who were visiting town wanted to try this place since they were craving Korean food for dinner :) ! They used to live and work in San Antonio, but now live in towns that don't have any Korean food options, or that don't have much Korean food variety. I am so glad that we tried this place because it is really a gem in San Antonio :D ! I am originally from Orange County, where there are a lot of Korean restaurant options, particularly in cities like Buena Park, Fullerton and Garden Grove :) ! Koreana really surpassed our expectations :D !! We loved all the little side dishes :) ! And our respective tofu soup options were so good :) !! I chose the seafood tofu, and it was so rich and flavorful :) ! I have to admit that it has been a while since I ate really authentic Korean food :) ! And this place totally satisfies my taste buds ;) ! We didn't know at first if this place was open because it's in an area where there is a lot of construction going on at the moment. Fortunately, they put out a sign with balloons attached to it to let customers like ourselves know that they are indeed open :) ! The employees are super warm and friendly, and really go out of their way to make you feel very welcome :) ! It is a great casual restaurant spot for solo eaters, small groups or large groups :) ! I will definitely come back for sure, whether I go solo, or whether I bring my friends or family with me :) ! read more

I've been stopping by Koreana Restaurant almost every time I'm in the San Antonio area. It was recommended to me by friends who live nearby, and it has become such a hidden gem for me. First of all, the service is really good. The lady who works there is always welcoming and makes me feel at home. The dining area is also clean and bright, which makes the meal even more enjoyable. The banchan, those small Korean side dishes, are delicious, and they give you plenty of them. I remember the last time I went, I got around eight different small dishes, and she kept coming back to ask if I wanted refills. I think I refilled them three times and got so full, lol. The seafood pancake really hit the spot, and the dolsot, or hot stone, bibimbap is my favorite. The portions are great, and the price is fair. Overall, this is a wonderful local Korean restaurant with good food, warm service, and a very comfortable read more

We went to koreana on Saturday. The store is nothing much to look at outside. And also when you come in. It is clean but just very shacky. The lady was very nice and took our order very efficiently. I wanted to order LA Galbi but she convinced me to order the one next to it which I didnt actually like. It tasted like bland grilled meat. Everything else was good. What really annoyed me though was when I went to order she said you need up to put 18% tip because you are a group of 6. It was my mum... me and my 4 kids. Who are 8 and under. I just find this forced typing very rude. Maybe I'm ignorant but I dont get what my table did that was worse than 3 tables of 2. Would i go back again Yes. Probably just to get take out read more

My in laws are in town so I know we're going to try EVERY Korean restaurant in SATX, lol. This time we visited "Koreana" for the first time and so far, it's one of my favorites from about 7 Korean restaurants we've tried so far. The ambiance is very "homey" and authentic feeling. The food, like I said was 10/10 for me and my Mother in law said this is one of the best , as well. She ordered kimchi jigae and I ordered the spicy pork plate lunch. Our servers were all so nice and attentive. They even gave my daughter a complimentary yogurt drink and my mother in law was chatting in Korean with the servers our entire time there! Definitely recommend if you are looking for a decent Korean food restaurant! :) read more

It is close to the Fort Sam Houston cemetery and golf club. It smells good and both of us were hungry so we got dolsat bibimbop and chicken bulgogi. The side dishes were delicious and hopefully we find a reason to come back since we live all the way on the west side of San Antonio read more

Amazing portion sizes and amazing flavor. I always order to-go and my favorite part is the complimentary banchans/side dishes. It's a whole plate of side dishes and they're so unique and flavorful, it's literally a meal itself. The galbi/marinated short ribs are my favorite because they're so tender and sweet. Service is great, the lady that works there looks like she owns the place and she is always friendly and welcoming. Ambiance looks super cozy and homey. read more

Surprised this place has rating less than 4 stars. Place is clean and staff is really friendly. The short ribs are AMAZING!! Very flavorful and tender.. really one of those Gems you want to keep to yourself but after being asked to write review..here it is!..Definitely coming back and trying other things off the menu... come pay them a visit ...its worth the drive and the food is great. read more

This is not a place to go for ambiance. At first glance on the outside it appears to be closed, due to construction next door. Don't let the fool you because some of the best Korean in San Antonio is found here. Having lived in Korea for two years, we feel that this is most authentic in terms of flavor and selection. We have frequented another Korean right off 410 in the Eisenhower area. After re-visiting here we found the flavors here are more authentic! You get plentiful choices of Banchan and the Kimchee is fantastic...actually has a little bite to it. We made a mistake and both ordered an order of Bulgogi, which was a mistake. A single order easily can be shared by two. (We came on a Sunday so the lunch specials didn't apply) We were asked if we wanted the lettuce leaves which to me, is a hallmark of a place that keeps it authentic. The service came with a smile. At the end we receive the small yogurt apéritif, which we haven't seen elsewhere. If you want authentic Korean and aren't concerned about bamboo and thatched decorations, this is the place. read more

They have reduced portions which is understandable with the economy and food prices, but stop including traditional kimchi on lunch plates. Plan to add additional cost to add kimchi with your order. read more

One of the authentic Korean restaurants in San Antonio. Service is the best. You can tell the owner and waitress care about their customers. Lots of Korean eating here which is a good sign. I had seafood pancakes which has a lot of seafood and vegetables. The kimchi stew is also solid. The decor is family style. read more

It was my first time visiting San Antonio in a long time, and I was craving Korean food. The service here was very nice. They had very appetizing bento sets, but I wanted something simple. I ordered a rice cake/dumpling soup that was pretty good, but I didn't like the kimchi and some of the side dishes. You do get a discount for paying with cash. Came around 2pm on a weekday and there were plenty of parking spots and seats. My first impression was how welcoming the staff were. Our waitress was so nice and friendly in recommending foods and making sure we had everything we needed. The samgyetang was flavorful and filling while the galbi lunch special was a great value and tasted amazing. The banchan sides were bountiful and tasty. I'll definitely be coming back to try some other options! The only down side was that we went in summer (June) and it was slightly warm in the restaurant. For those who fear cold AC, it is perfect for you! read more

Looking for a good Korean restaurant to try, we headed to Koreana Restaurant. There were already several cars parked in front when we arrived. Dad and hubby had the Dole Lemonade, and I had the Lychee Hanjan. Hanjan wasn't sake but tasted a bit similar. We got several dishes to share: Japchae, LA Galbi, and Seafood Soft Tofu Soup. Great flavors with all the dishes! The beef short rib was very tender and tasty. The soup was spicy, so my hubby enjoyed that more. The best part is the ban chan, all the variety of sides from kimchi to cucumber to potatoes.  Koreana Restaurant seems to have been in this neighborhood for quite some time now, but the current owner has had the place for about a year. It's definitely worth a stop here! read more

You don't have to explore the orient to savor the unique flavors of Korea! Located within a mile of Fort Sam Houston, this unassuming local favorite serves up authentic Korean fare in a bright setting. I walked in on a weekday around 6 p.m. and was seated at a booth by a staff member. Having a high degree of familiarity with Korean food, I already knew what I wanted before I looked at the menu. Yep, you guessed it - Bibimbap - a delicious masterpiece of rice and vegetables topped with an egg sunny side up! If you have a taste for something else, they have a host of other classic Korean dishes that are sure to please! As I was waiting, the server brought out an array of sides (banchan). This included kimchi, cucumbers, fish cakes, among others. My dish arrived steaming hot in a cast iron bowl. I added some spicy sauce and mixed it in the rice and toppings. It was delicious down to the last bite, and the rice had a distinctive crisp at the bottom of the bowl! Overall, I would say the food here is top notch and would highly recommend! read more

Family members highly recommended this restaurant, and it did not disappoint. We were greeted and seated immediately by the friendly waitstaff when we visited during lunch. The place was clean and comfortable. We were waited on quickly, and our food arrived just as fast. Most impressive was the deliciousness of our meals. We ordered the kimchi pancake for an appetizer, and it was fantastic -- I would order it again. We ordered pork bulgogi, beef bulgogi, and the stoneware bibimbap for our entrees. We recommend all of these dishes. They were abundant portions, and the prices were reasonable. I look forward to my next visit. read more

Sadly this was not the Korean food I'm used to eating. I ordered a soup that had no flavor and the color of it was off puting. The waitress was nice though. What made things worse was that we showed up before the dinner rush and it took 30 minutes to start getting food for two people. We also received the dumpling appetizer after we got our dinner. read more

The absolute worst. We were so excited to try this place. Walked in and instead of being greeted, we were told "for 2, go sit there." We sat and waited 20 minutes and not once did anyone acknowledge us. The server looked at us multiple times, I tried to get her attention, and nothing. It wasn't even busy, everyone else already had their food. Super disappointing. Total waste of time. We left and went to another Korean restaurant. read more

Came here with my wife for the first time. We ordered the kimchee soup with soft tofu, deep fried dumplings (mandoo), kimbap (beef sushi), and kimchee pancake. Every dish we ordered were delicious and highly recommended to order once. The dipping sauce is awesome and goes well with everything. The side dishes were all flavorful and an amazing compliment to the other food. Overall, the prices are very reasonable and the portions are decent. The staff are fast and friendly. They have a small parking lot and honestly, from the outside looking in, it doesn't look like a clean or good place to eat, but don't judge a book by it's cover for this hole-in-the-wall restaurant. They have lots of tables, tv for entertainment, and canned drinks. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely stop by again. read more

Traditional Korean meal offerings with banchan. We tried the galbi beef and a chicken bibimbap. Beef not a fav (too sweet) but bibimbap was a huge portion and had all the trimmings. Service was exemplary during a busy lunch hour. read more

Wanted bibimbap when my young cousin started obsessing over it after exposure through a Korean show. This restaurant is the only one I found that served it. This restaurant sits between Seoul Food Korean Grill and a mexican restaurant. The area doesn't look very appealing but everything was copacetic in this restaurant. We ordered the bibimbap with japchae and bulgogi. Everything was very good. My only downfall was buying too much bibimbap because it is not good the second day. Definitely a dish that is to be enjoyed immediately. read more

Best pork bulgogi in town. I've been to several places around the country and have not found anything that has this much flavor. The steamed and fried mandu are good. I hate giving poor reviews but the owners need to read and try to improve. First I think I need to introduce this restaurant to some salt and spice . Korean food is traditionally full of flavor and umami. -Kimchi- I'm going to pick on this side dish only because kimchi is the lifeblood of Korean food. bland-and the cabbage wasn't properly wilted with salt. There are fresh versions you can do without the fermenting process but that even said, no. Just no. The bulgogi. Not pictured was the most decent thing there-tender, but still missing something in the marinade. -The kimchi tofu soup- sigh. Where is the kimchi? Bland, no spice. I might have spotted some tiny cut up pieces of cabbage. Uhm did they use just water for the broth base?! The lady came over when she saw that most of the soup was untouched. To her credit, she took a few dollars off the soup. Nice lady, Yakult at the end and the stir fried fish cake was good,(burnt). And got barley tea-hot- this was good- hence the 2 stars I was going to get something to go for my son but couldn't subject him to it. We left and went next door to the Seoul Korean Grill. -to go -so no clue if it's good or not. Lastly-the owners of this establishment must know that there is a TERRIBLE smell emanating from somewhere. We should have left right then buttttt, ‍ read more

Service is amazing! Our waitress was so kind and was attentive to our table. The portions here are large! I would say the food is decent. The banchan was mediocre and some banchan dishes were too sweet; however, I really enjoyed the main dishes. I ordered yukgaejang and it was a huge portion! I was able to take home leftovers and eat it for two more meals. It came with plenty of beef and bean sprouts. My friends split the goat meat soup (the menu says it is 2 servings, but it could definitely serve 4!). The goat meat soup was so flavorful! It was my first time trying that kind of jeongol and I really liked it! Our table also split the tteokbokki. I thought this dish wasn't really worth it - it just tasted like one of the instant kits you can get at the Korean market. I would definitely come back to try more of the main dishes/stews! read more

I have frequented this restaurant many times for lunch because I worked close by and loved the food.

I've been coming here off and on since 2011. This is my first time back in over 5 years. I feel like they've had a glow up! The restaurant is clean, updated, and fresher feeling. The staff is still very sweet and attentive. Most importantly, the food is still amazing! Very fresh, tastes great, good portions and is reasonably priced. Can't ask for more than that.
