I was craving Korean food and found this local spot. It's actually quite better than I expected! I will say the service was exceptional! As soon as I walked in I was greeted and treated with so much respect it was amazing! I did order to-go but the folks up front were very informative. We got the shrimp tempura & jalapeño poppers as appetizers, shrimp tempura was unfortunately not good, the tempura didn't taste fresh, it actually tasted like it was frozen and then deep fried and semi-watery. The jalapeño poppers weren't bad at all, quite good, although they don't go with the Korean food honestly. As our main dishes we got their very popular LA Galbi Dub-Bob (beef ribs) and holy moly they didn't disappoint! Absolutely delicious! I got the dinner plate so it was a lot! I will definitely go back, just to get that plate again! My husband got their spicy beef bulgogi, and it was so good! The place itself is cute and seemed quite quiet for a busy night. Overall I will definitely be back!

This restaurant is a great spot for a quick bite. The seating area is quaint and clean. I had the LA galbi and it was flavorful and marinated to perfection. The meat at first looks like it's going to be tough but as soon as you bite into it you realize that the marinade worked its magic. The LA galbi was tender and smoking hot when it reached my table. The char on the beef was soooo good. The vegetable side dishes were good too. The mung bean sprouts salad was crisp and the kimchi was yummy. It wasn't too spicy. The staff were warm and friendly and service was quick. I went around 7pm and it wasn't crowded or loud. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

We happened along this gem of a restaurant because my husband had a craving for Bulgogi. We are so glad to find Garlic Bulgogi close by. This restaurant has been in business for a year and a half. It was midafternoon so we didn't expect it would be busy but for that time of day there were several patrons. We were seated immediately and the staff were extremely helpful and explained the different dishes. We ordered gyoza and egg rolls to start with hot tea. It all came out hot, fresh, and delicious. We moved on to beef bulgogi and LA Galbi. They were both great but those short ribs were outstanding. It came with rice and a total of 8 banchan (sides of kimchi/marinated veggies). They also brought us some miso soup that was delicious as well. When the brought us the check the owner brought us small yogurt drinks that were quite tasty. The dining room was clean and inviting. No complaints inside or out. We will be coming back many times. There's plenty more we want to try. There was so much food but we ate it all, it was that good. This is one of those gems you want to keep opened! So get yourself there soon!!

I finally made it out to Garlic Bulgogi on Badera to see what all the fuss is about. The place is clean and organized, though the partitions in the dining area make it feel a bit smaller and tighter than the more open layout this place used to have before it became Garlic Bulgogi. Still, they do a good job of keep things tidy and welcoming. The service was a highlight: two staff members (an older woman and a young gentleman) were both warm, attentive, and always ready with a smile. They really rescued our experience because honestly, some of the dishes felt a little underwhelming compared to what we're used to. If I were the owner, I'd definitely be proud of their hospitality. A little background...having lived and worked in NY/NJ, I'm accustomed to top-tier, authentic Korean food (Fort Lee and Leonia NJ, Korea town in NYC, etc.), so my standards are shaped by that. The spicy seafood tofu soup wasn't really spicy and lacked some of that deep umami flavor I expect in Korean tofu stews (oh gee, I'm missing SoKong Dong). The shrimp tempura udon was solid, but just kind of "there" rather than something I'd crave to order again. Tha jalapeño popper appetizer was small, yes, but tasty...they did something a bit different with the presentation that made the plate look more generous and creative than ordinary. A couple other observations: we didn't see many Asian diners when we were there (except for us) maybe flavor expectations or marketing are keeping authenticity seekers away. Also, asking for extra banchan came with a charge, which felt pretty odd for a Korean place. The complimentary probiotic drink after the meal was a nice touch, though not enough to shift my overall impression. Chas Market in San Antonio still wins for me when I want truly satisfying traditional Korean fare. Summing it all up, Garlic Bulgogi has some strong points, friendly service, clean space (including the bathroom, it's a trek down the winding hallway to the bathroom), some creative presentation. But I'd love to see them lean harder into bold, authentic flavors, and embrace more of the traditional ways of cooking and serving. If they do that this place could really shine and I'd finally add two more stars for a perfect Yelp review.

    Chicken tteokbokki

My son and I were hungry the other day, but not really planning to go out to eat. I mentioned how I wanted to try Garlic Bulgogi, but they never were open for lunch when I drove by. He said they were open for lunch, so I looked online to check. I was right. They don't open until 2:00 PM. Since I had it on my screen, I looked over the menu. I am a big fan of Korean dramas and had always wanted to try tteokbokki. They seem to eat it at least once sooner or later in every series I ever watched. It really looked awesome, so I bought some instant packages at the Asian market. It was chewy and tasteless. I knew it had to be better in Korea. When I saw it listed on Garlic Bulgogi's menu, I reached for my car keys and told my son to head for the truck. What a "WOW" meal we had. We both got the tteokbokki. I got beef bulgogi flavored and he got chicken. We were served a delicious bowl of miso soup, a small salad, and sides of pickled radish and cucumber kimchi. Then, the server set those beautiful plates of tteokbokki in front of us. The smell was intoxicating. I used my chopsticks to grab one of the rice cakes and popped it whole into my mouth. It tasted fantastic, but the texture was out of this world. They were a tiny bit chewy, but very soft. Not like the instant ones that I had to chew until my jaws ached. My second bite was pure bulgogi. They meat was good, but that sauce! I could have eaten a bowl of it with a spoon. It was almost too good. I really like everything about the place except the music. They had country music playing. Please, if you are reading this Mr. Manager or Owner, consider playing K-Pop or some other Korean music. The decor is very nice, and everything seemed super clean. All it needs is a music change. My son and I will be back. There are other flavors of tteokbokki to try. Plus, I want to try some of the other dishes on the menu. It is very affordable and really fits into my current Hallyu Fan Phase.

Tried it for the first time this evening. Service was excellent. They were on top of everything. Tried the Miso soup first. Lots of flavor in the broth. Great start to the meal. Next was the Goyza. Excellent dipped in some soy sauce. Concluded the meal with Spicy Chicken Bulgogi. Definitely needed an extra glass of water but it did have a great flavor. Will definitely come back and try some more.

The service here was great! Everyone was very attentive and made sure I had everything I needed. The area was clean and the decor was fitting. I ordered the chicken bulgogi dish, but the smaller portion. The flavor of the chicken was lacking and the kimchi looked and tasted old. The menu has a nice variety so it's possible their specialty is one of the other dishes, but I did not particularly enjoy mine. Three stars for service and price point!

Excellent food, I've never had Korean food before but this was excellent, great flavor. The service was excellent, we were greeted as soon as we stepped foot in the door and were waited on very attentively. The interior is simple and comfortable, perfect place for a date with the wife.

Everything was so good and Becky the cook is the sweetest you can tell she loves what she does! Everyone was so sweet and the space was so cozy. Will be back ! Hidden gem

If I could give zero stars to this restaurant I would! I walk in to see a familiar face and I believe she worked at Arirang maybe? That lady was really nice to us! And then a younger guy came to serve us. Whatever I picked off the menu description doesn't really match what I got! If I tell you it is not edible it is an understatement! Not only bad flavor, chewy meat! I called them to ask them why the dish tastes so off! They left with no response. Waited waited until I asked the First Lady again... she responded that they refused to change the dish or recook it and if I am not happy I can not eat it and leave! What??? Is that how you treat customers? For a moment I wanted to at least leave a tip for the server... it isn't his fault! They all vanished. They would pass by and ignore me like I don't exist. We got up and left and never again!

In the area for business and found this place. Located in strip center behind Arby's off Bandera. Small, clean restaurant and good service. Food had great flavor. Ordered the spicy beef bulgogi dinner, which came with white rice and several sides. Nephew ordered the spicy chicken bulgogi regular plate (smaller portion from dinner). Meal started with a miso soup. All drinks are in bottles, only refillable drink is water. Will definitely be back to try other dishes like the ramen items.

The inside of the veggie Spring Rolls (carrots, onion, cabbage, and green onion)

We visited on a Saturday evening around 6:45. As we walked in, a family of four was leaving, and we noticed we were the only ones in the restaurant--a bit surprising for a Saturday since we've been here twice before and it was busier. We were warmly greeted and seated near the front. Our host and server, Mia, was friendly and attentive from the start. After settling in, Mia took our drink orders. They offer Coke products and a variety of unique Asian drinks like ramune in several flavors. We started with an appetizer of veggie spring rolls and decided to wait a bit before ordering our entrées. The spring rolls came out quickly, within 5-6 minutes, along with complimentary miso soup that accompanies any entrée. For our mains, I chose the beef kalbi, and my wife ordered the beef japchae. The food arrived promptly, within 10 minutes, which was expected since we were the only diners. Each entrée came with white rice, salads, and a fantastic selection of about eight banchan. They even provided scissors for cutting the kalbi, which was a thoughtful touch. The kalbi was perfectly seasoned and grilled, with a tender, slightly charred texture--absolutely delicious. The japchae was just as impressive: fresh, hot, and packed with veggies and beef. The noodles had a great chew and weren't overly oily. The banchan variety was outstanding, and we appreciated that refills were available. Overall, the meal was excellent, as always. We've never had a bad experience here, and we're excited to return to try some of their Korean soups. Highly recommend!

Service was GREAT! Food was PERFECT. I highly highly recommend stopping in! It wasn't crowded when we went but even if it was i don't think it would feel crowded. The inside and the ambiance of the place is minimalistic but tasteful and comfortable!

Chas Market & Kitchen had been long on my list and since it was minutes away, seemed like the most logical choice. I have constantly heard people sing its praises. I will say I'm not versed in Korean fare. I had previously went to another Korean Restaurant and had a terrible experience. It is somewhere on the outskirts of the Eastside, alongside the highway. From the exterior it feels like a neighborhood convenient store. Once inside the room opens up with ample seating and tables. I noticed the tables that are specifically for their "All You Can Eat" menu but that's for another review. Along the walls are fridges with drinks and little knick knacks. It reminded me of a bodega. After we found a seat a server came and left menus. The menu is really extensive. I decided on their beef bulgogi, again a redo after the previous restaurant fiasco. A hip soundtrack is playing overhead, which I believe gives the place a modern vibe. Before I go on I must include that the server was excellent. I say this as he was very attentive but still able to work the rest of the room. Whenever I go to a new place sometimes I feel an anxiety. My fear is being disappointed and having wasted my time. But my impression is that it is an ultra laid back place. You can leave your Armani suit and Louboutin shoes at home. When the food came to the table it was served on a plate steaming similar to a fajita plancha. The server brought over accompanying small dishes that are meant to be added to the bulgogi. The small dishes contained: kimichi, spicy cucumbers, radish etc. Combining any or all with the dishes heightened the flavors. I think this was the most unique tasting thing I've had this year. In addition if you want a drink you have to choose one from their wall of fridges. I think this might dissuade some patrons but again, the overall experience is like that of a bodega. If you are looking for great Korean food with excellent service by all means go to Chas Market & Kitchen. So far this year this has been the restaurant with the most unique flavors. It is perfect for a date night, friends or with family. And I have to, have to absolutely do their "All You Can Eat" where you cook all items. I'm buying if someone else is doing the cooking.

You don't have to get up from your table at all, everything is brought to you. All of the sides they bring you to go with the all you can eat are so thought out and flavorful. We got the ttekboki, fried dumplings, and vegetable tempura. They were all delicious! Now the quality of the meats here is MILES beyond the chain KBbQ places. All of the cuts were a decent thickness, and were portioned quite well. They were very flavorful. We ordered thinly sliced steak, spicy bulgogi, bbq chicken, and pork belly. All were delicious. We were a table of 3 adults and 2 kids and did not even get a refill on the meats. They also have a smoke vent to help with the grill. We really appreciated that.
