Our server, Evelynn, was extraordinary and she kept us fed! She was very knowledgeable with the menu and ordered enough appetizers for the table to share, gave her feedback on the different sushi rolls and kept our drinks full. The kitchen staff was on it and food continued to roll out quickly, whether it was from the sushi counter or the back. A pleasant surprise! The ambience of the inside was truly something I'd want to come back for. It wasn't rowdy. There wasn't LOUD overpowering music playing in the background and the service was also great! Great place for families to come celebrate milestones & birthdays! Tried Sushi Haya and honestly... it was mid across the board. The food was mid, the service was mid, and the place was super packed, which didn't help the ambiance or experience at all. On top of that, it felt pricey for what we got, especially given the overall quality. Nothing was terrible, but nothing stood out either. With the crowd and the cost, I expected more. I've come to this location many times but this might be my first dinner stop. They have all you can eat available for a little over $30 for adults. You place your order and they make everything fresh. They will tell you it's not a buffet as there is no food sitting out for picking. Instead, their menu includes appetizers, hibachi, sushi, sashimi, hot foods, desserts, and many other items. I tried mainly the coconut shrimp and seaweed salad along with several rolls, sushi, and sashimi. The coconut shrimp is okay but somewhat dry. The seaweed salad is refreshing and on par with what you'll get anywhere. The sushi rolls are very large so keep that in mind as you order. The sashimi was fresh and tasty except some of the salmon was cut kind of odd. The eel was delicious. The beef hibachi was a little overcooked and chewy. The combination yakisoba was okay, but somewhat overly limp. The green tea ice cream had a good texture but was light on flavor. Many on my table liked the fried Oreos and cheesecake. I thought the Oreos had a bit too much batter. Otherwise, it was a good experience. Make sure you place your order quickly and fully because their visits to take orders are inconsistent - it takes a while for them to come by especially if the restaurant is very busy! read more

Interior was nice and clean. They have an a la carte and an AYCE option. The latter is ~$30/pp. If you're ordering more than 2 rolls, the AYCE is obviously more worth it. Food came out pretty quick. Sushi Haya is my go to sushi AYCE in San Antonio. The food is really good for the price, and sashimi being included in the regular price is great. You can eat your worth purely through the sashimi if you wanted to. Their spicy edamame is really different from other places I've had and it's one of the dishes I often order multiple of for the table because of how much we like it. Their Yaki Soba (also applies to other hibachi stuff) can be hit or miss. I've had it here yummy with that grilled taste, then super salty that wasn't the best. The last time I went they did pretty art on the plate. Workers are pretty fast, it can get crowded at times but they don't have an issue helping out other tables so if they notice you sitting there too long someone else will be there eventually. Overall we had a mixed experience at this sushi restaurant. The appetizers were actually the highlight of the meal and tasted good. The sushi itself, however, was just okay and the overall quality didn't meet our expectations. Unfortunately, we also found a hair inside one of our rolls, which was very off-putting and unacceptable. Because of this, it's unlikely we would return despite the decent appetizers. read more

The sashimi were extremely small portions but you could always order more. The only roll that I did not like was the Hawaii one with mango. If anyone knows a movie (not the hangover) that has Zach Galifinakis in it receiving oral sex, please let me know. Then not 10 minutes later, another sex scene appeared with Zach Galifinakis receiving oral sex. My kids said it was "weird" and wanted to know what was happening. I was speechless. I asked our waitress to change the screen and she said she had to ask. The scene continued and I finally had to find a manager. When the manager spoke with me, he said "our tv receivers are very basic. Anyone with a generic remote can come in and change it". Ridiculous! Trying to blame it on customers?! The owners initially offered a 10% discount. When I said that wasn't enough they raised it to 20%. There was zero accountability. And the owners simply didn't care. I write reviews all the time. Loved coming to this place food was very good, but after my last experience I will never come back. The workers did not take my allergy seriously and I needed up in the emergency room with an allergic reaction. I was a regular there and staff would remember me even so I would still say every time I visited that I am allergic to avocado. I would make sure to tell the server at least three times to confirm. I told my server over and over about my reaction and she still brought a roll with avocado. I kindly told her I cannot eat this because of allergy. She brushed me off and took the plate back and the workers scraped off the avocado and served the same dish back to me. On the outside the roll looked fine then when I took a bite I saw the residue of avocado that was scraped off. I instantly broke out in rashes and hives and felt my throat swell up. I understand not wasting product but when I've made it very clear about my allergy this is unacceptable. There are others who are more severe in their allergy and could pass away from coming into contact with said allergy. The manger just gave ten percent off bill and that is all. read more
