I had Dad's cut down a tree at my home some time ago and was pleased with their work and price. I contacted Dad's to pick up a large pile of tree branches from two trees at my church. The price was very good. The crew showed up on time and did excellent work. They cleaned up the small debris from the church parking lot leaving it clean and even blew the small amount of wood dust off visitors cars parked near the work area. Estimate was prompt and fairly priced. The work removing my three-story -tall oak, grating the stump and filling in with topsoil occurred with a result that appeared as though waving a magic wand. Work crew left the surrounding area cleaner than they found it. Ron the arborist is knowledgeable and respectful of your tree's needs even when that means leaving them alone. We turned to Dad's Tree Service after an old oak in our back yard was damaged in a storm. The tree had a number of big dead branches, but the ones that fell off and hit our house, power line and fiber optic wires were all alive, so we decided the tree might need to come down. Ron came almost immediately to check it out and gave us the option of simply pruning back the tree or removing it, saying he thought the chances of keeping the tree alive were "50% over five years." We decided to have it taken down, but as it was very close to the power and fiber optic lines, yet far from the street, I couldn't see how they could get a crane in. Ron just said, "We'll do it manually," which they did. The job took a total of two days separated by about a week, but the result was great. We have had five oaks removed from our property over the last forty years, and no company has done such a good job as Dad's. read more

Don't waste your time with this company like I did and don't be fooled by their recent good reviews in Consumers Checkbook. I called for an estimate on tree work this week, and their employee "Jordan" called back quickly, which would seem to indicate they were somewhat interested and available to do the work. Things went south from there. Unfortunately I had missed her call, but called back and left a message later that day; she then ghosted me and completely failed to return that message along with at least two others I left over the course of the next few days. So - total waste of time trying to get services from this company. Dads - why does your website dishonestly invite prospective customers to request an estimate if you don't really want to take on any more work and have no intention of returning their phone calls?? If you can't handle any more business, why not just update your website and phone message to tell people to leave you alone and not bother you? That would at least be honest. Are you trying to piss off prospective customers??? If so it's working!! read more

So far so good, I watched Dads work on a neighbor's home across the street. The men seemed to care about how they were trimming because one guy was walking back and forth across the street to look at each tree from different view points. In June we had Dad's remove a maple tree in our backyard that was close to the house & utility lines (about 20" circumference), and grind about 5 stumps. Customer service via phone was pleasant and professional. They came out the day after my initial call to provide an estimate. Had to wait 3 weeks for service since it was a busy time, plus Miss Utility had to come out to check the maple tree situation. Definitely worth the wait! The work was done well & for a great price compared to others' experience with similar services. Years ago, Dad's tree service was working at my neighbor's house across the street and my neighbor was very happy with their work. I've had them maintain the trees in my back yard since then (mostly trimming dead wood and fertilizing every few years). I had a 36" oak tree in a pretty small back yard that had been declining for some time, and we decided it was time for it to come down. I was nothing but amazed with the work that they did. The staff were very professional, yet friendly, and they worked well as a team. They went above and beyond with the cleanup, they even got all the sawdust out of the gutters and off the patio. Communication has been great, I received calls to let me know when they were coming, and even to remind me to water after application of the fertilizer. Overall excellent, I will continue to use their services in the future. read more

I just sorta got a good feeling from what I could see online about Dad's. I was not disappointed. He gave me an excellent price on the tree work and, when I pointed out some trees that another services said "must come down" Dad said, "They're fine for now, call me in the summer when they're in full foliage and we'll take a look then." The crew showed up at the appointed time (actually about an hour or so early) and handled the trees professionally. The capstone to the whole thing was...I had asked for the bulk of the oak tree to be cut into fireplace lengths and I would split it myself. I don't know if you have ever asked for that but they generally leave it where it falls. I took a picture of how my tree was left and, if I can figure it out, will post a picture. They had lumped it all in one pile (no easy task) near the stump where the tree was felled. Just that little extra touch has made me a customer forever. read more

I had Dad's Tree Service out today to do routine tree service, cleaning out dead wood and shaping some smaller trees. I paid about $2,000 for a four-person crew being at my house for about 3 hours. They showed up on time, and I had a good overview talk with George, the foreman, before they started. (Ron, the owner, had come out earlier to talk about the work and give me a price, and he was very good.) The work was done very well and they worked hard, did what I needed, and cleaned up very well. I just had a very strange experience with this company. I had been calling different vendors for different services, and had not yet set up any appointments with tree services, nor given any of them my address. This company called me twice, even though I did not return the first phone call. Then showed up without talking to me first about the work to be done or getting my address (no doubt hunting it down on the internet). I know that can be done, but it is spooky and I would never go to someone's house without getting their address from them, and talking to them at length first. I was taken aback when he showed up, and then he acted like this awkward situation was somehow my fault, and refused to provide a quote. He said his company would not do business with me because I was thrown off by his unusual behavior. read more

I used Dad's Tree Service on 2 different occasions to remove dead trees on my property. Both times the trees were located in difficult-to-reach places (a large maple in the middle of my deck, a tall evergreen so close to the house it was growing into the gutter and a sprawling pear tree intertwined in the electrical wires coming to the house). Both times the work was down quickly, carefully and efficiently for a very fair price. The owner is very knowledgeable about trees. His goal is always to save the tree (I had other trees that I did not remove on his recommendation), but also gives good advice on when a tree needs to come down for safety purposes. They came out and gave me an estimate to trim an apple tree in my yard early this spring. The recommended the tree not be trimmed until the June/July time frame. I had a coupon that expired before then, but they were willing to honor the coupon anyway. They did a fantastic job, they called me the day before to let me know they were coming, came out did the work, cleaned up all the limbs and leaves afterwards. I will not hesitate to call them again when I need more tree work done. read more

I've been a customer of Dad's Tree Service since 2000, and I used their service most recently in summer 2012 when the "derecho" storm snapped the trunk of a tree on my property. I saw the other reviewer has given a low mark, but I've been very happy with Ron and his firm over the years. He comes out promptly to give an estimate, he's happy to explain it in person or on the phone, and he gives me separate prices for optional items. I still get a few competing prices when I'm considering a big job like removal of a full tree, but for routine trimming and maintenance, plus storm damage response, I consider Dad's to be my "go-to" company. read more
