Went by for some key copies during our stay at home order period. Masks are required of all businesses. Rafael was the person who was there on my first visit. No mask. Made copies of my key. When I drove back home which is not close by, none of the keys he made worked. I returned the next day. He was there with another worker. No masks. Explained the situation. His coworker told Him he used the wrong keys to make the copies. He retrieved the correct ones from his truck as I waited. Then Rafael gave them to me and told me they were done. I put them in my pocket and when I got to my vehicle and looked at them they were blank keys, not done. Walked all the way back to their office. Asked him why he would give me blank keys. He looked confused and became belligerent and rude. He said he would give me a refund. I told him I needed the key to be copied. At no time was I ever rude to him. He raises his voice and said he was not being treated right. I looked at him in disbelief. Never have I had such an unprofessional and mentally unstable experience at a business. Rather than escalate the situation, I left without a word. You cannot argue with individuals who are unstable. His coworker just stood there looking at him in disbelief and did not say a word. Horrific and incompetent business. Do not have any work done there. I will be making sure that no one I know gives them any business, via my blog and other outlets on social media. I actually didn't end up using their service, but I really appreciate that they didn't overcharge me and they were able to send out someone within minutes that I called. The story is that I had called a few places that couldn't make the key for my car. After a few tries, finally a different company they told me they could. I scheduled them but kept trying other shops. One place that I called told me they could get the key made for half what I was quoted; they were too far (as they don't come out to change the lock), but they told me to not use the other company because they were overcharging. I called Dade Lock & Key and they were really friendly and quick over the phone; all they needed they said would be an hour to get there - but they were actually going to get to me in half an hour. I have been a "Can I have these keys copied" customer for the last few years since moving into the neighborhood, and always satisfied by prompt and courteous service (so I am not sure what the previous reviews are about?). This visit was different - our condo had been burglarized during a brief outing. After having dealt with police, and insurance, a bit of PTSD, and getting the alarm service back up I went to Dade Lock and Key to see if the current lock (standard on all condo units) could accommodate a Medeco cylinder. The owner (Raphael?) could not have been more attentive to my brief account of how I think the burglary took place...he listened politely and attentively, showed me what my current lock could (and couldn't) do and why, and when I asked about replacing the cylinder with a Medeco (which I have on my office door) he took the time to walk me to the back through the store to show me the Medeco on his rear door and explained how it worked. I am about to place an order for installation....and am somewhat amazed at other posts describing rude experiences - certainly that has not been my experience (that would however describe the locksmith company/service used by the condo management - disinterested, rude, and messy). So dear Yelpers, please allow me to tell you a true story about a man whom shall not be named. Initially, I had the misfortune of dealing with this crazy critter solely via phone connections. When I first phoned him on Tuesday, l attempted to explain to him that the key his co-worker Raphael had copied for me simply did not work. He exclaimed, "I don't understand, so what is your problem!" I replied in a calm, polite manner that I'm simply trying to fill him in since I've never dealt with him before. Then in an exasperated tone he implores me to bring it in repeatedly. So now I quickly but courteously reply, "Okay, thanks, goodbye." So I call the next day (Wednesday) and the same nasty guy answers the phone. Surprised, I ask if Raphael is there. He replies "No, he"s off today." in a curt manner, "Is there something I can help you with?" I decline and attempt to say goodbye but he hangs up on me abruptly. Now, I'm beginning to wonder about this crude guy. No worries, I thought, I'll simply try Raphael again tomorrow. So I phone asking for Raphael again. OMG, the same lousy creature answers in the same condescending tone. I'm beginning to notice a disturbing pattern here. Quickly and reluctantly, I ask for Raphael once again. By now, his impatience, frustration, and contempt with me is becoming ever more obvious. When I call back on Friday, hoping to catch Raphael by chance, guess who responds over the phone. In his classic, menacing tone, he informs me that Raphael is not available because he is out on a work order. Feeling somewhat desperate to connect with Raphael, I boldly asked if he knew when he will return. By this point, I've grown accustomed to a harsh demeanor and hearing a loud click before I've even finished saying goodbye. So I mister up the courage to visit the store. Now, finally, I decide to phone one last time just to determine if Raphael has indeed returned. Alas, of course, Raphael's not there, according to the King Serpent of customer service excellence. Mind you, he never did divulge his name to me, so I've taken it upon myself to assign him certain, well- fitting nicknames, shall we say. Struggling a bit to overcome my reservations , I hesitate into the small store while gulping down air and saliva with a hard swallow. It's do or die time, the Dark Serpent has taken shape right in front of my very eyes! He"s not what I imagined from our short, stinging phone exchanges. In stature, he is actually quite short and rather portly. I had envisioned someome much greater; a tall, dark handsome Grim Reaper type, to be specific. Perhaps I would be spared a death by venomous tongue, after all. At first, he makes eye contact with me and it appears that it may unfold as a relatively painless experience. But wait, then I foolishly mention Raphael and cautiously present him with my key chain as he realizes it's me, his favorite phone victim. So far, not too bad at all, things are normal. However, there was something odd about his manner of avoiding eye contact while simultaneously glancing subtly at me out of the corner of his eye. He appears to be reciting different letters of the alphabet, one letter for each distinctive machine cut. I then seem to hear him say aloud what sounds like, "F", followed by "Q". I can't quite make out the letters clearly over the sound of the grinding on the key machines. Then he moves to what appears to be a key grinder nearer me and I watch him more closely out of curiosity. I'm now able to hear him better. He appears to recite the same letters of the alphabet to guide his key cuts. Now this time, I can hear more clearly. While looking down at the key , he appears to recant to himself, "FU*K ", then "U". Whoa, Yikes! I just learned some new key cutting verbal codes to help guide me just in case I decide to venture into the locksmith business. Fortunately, for me, the remainder of the transaction was pretty routine and everything else transpired smoothly and without incident. Looking back now, my patient Yelpers, I'm grateful for many things. Like, for instance, I was able to depart from the store completely unscathed, at least from a physical standpoint. Before I leave my beloved Yelper audience, I cannot help but wonder if the Scaly Serpent Lord of client care quality control might be better suited in a different field. How about a torture specialist in Guantanamo Bay detention camp? Or he could teach primitive cave dwellers how to become terrorists in the remote, mountainous reaches of East Asia? Or perhaps even a Pied Piper of King Cobras in the sandy, barren dungeons of doom for the imprisoned and innocent women and children of the Middle Eastern deserts? It just worries me sick that our Venomous, Scaly Reptile will never reach his full Dark potential as a mere locksmith in a small, confined retail store with no room to blossom. read more

Worth the trip because they're fast, honest, and reasonably priced. They can make copies of High Security Laser Cut car keys, including the Internal Laser Cut keys that have the channel running down the middle instead of teeth on the outside. This includes keys for cars like Saab, Volkswagen, Audi, and others. I brought my own blank key and they cut it, no problem. PLEASE NOTE: They do not program the remote transmitters to your car. But a decent repair shop should be able to do this, or, you can go to the dealership which will cost a bit more. I recommend European Auto Service Center if you drive a European car, including Saabs. read more

I came here because I needed 2 keys cut for my Lexus, and had already purchased the blank keys. One of them is a replacement for a damaged key, the other a new key with a new transponder. The owner George was very kind to look up information about programming the new transponder to make sure the information I had was accurate and that it was possible for a do-it-your-selfer to do with the model year that I have before cutting the new key. The $40 per key price was reasonable especially given the business's good reputation and the level of care and diligence demonstrated. After having the keys cut I was able to program the transponder and the keyless entry systems in their parking lot within a few minutes. Dade Lock and Key ripped us off with their charging. We moved into a new house and had 6 locks we needed rekeyed. Three needed new bolts as they had European keys and could not be rekeyed. The new dead bolts cost $76 each. They had said that they would be expensive. However, without any advance notice they charged us more than $71 each to install them. Each one took minutes to install, drilling out old and putting in new. In addition they charged us $45 to adjust another deadbolt so it would not open when the door opened. This also only took seconds. It took them longer to make out their bill than to do the work. read more

They ordered me a special key for my Jeep that most locksmiths are unable to get. It was much cheaper than going thru the Jeep dealer. I needed to get a Honda key programmed and laser cut. I bought the blank online with a chip in it for 10 bucks. I called 5 places. One company wanted 75.00, even using my blank. Most locksmiths aren't fond of you buying a blank online. I can understand and appreciate that. The cheapest price I found was 60.00 if I brought it in to their shop. I called Dade Lock and Key and he offered to program and laser cut the key for 40.00! He even said that sometimes even though the machine says its OK, it might not be. I was parked about a block away. He was glad to walk with me and try it out before I paid for it. Great service and a great price is something that I appreciate very much. Dade Lock & Key is the only locksmith I will ever go to in the future as its in the neighborhood and he was super professional and a very nice man as well.
