    French toast
    Alan J.

It was suggested that I try this place out because I'd been whining to my friends about a lack of real Mexican breakfast options here in East Jabip. I've been pining for real Mexican breakfast tacos since I left San Antonio. I decided to stop here on my way to the Delaware Blood Bank to make my usual whole blood donation. It wasn't busy for 8:30 am on a Monday. Maybe I missed the rush. Waitress was friendly and perked up when I mentioned San Antonio. I was so glad that I stopped in. Even though the Chilaquiles with salsa verde, scrambled eggs and chorizo was not exactly as I had it pictured in my head, it was delicious. The French toast hit the spot as well. I will be back to sample the other options.

Okay so this place is underrated for sure. Honestly I thought it was more of a breakfast spot (which I'll be back for) but I was wrong. My husband and I stopped here for lunch and it was great. What a cute restaurant and a very sweet staff. I had a BLT with avocado and my husband the turkey Rubin. We were both very satisfied and also we tried their mushroom soup. Please make it a point to try this local spot!

Daddy's Kitchen or Cocina de Papa is a well disguised Mexican restaurant with a menu that is half American and half from South of the Border. Their focus is breakfast and lunch. The space isn't large, with room for about a dozen tables and a small rear dining room about half the size of the main room. We ordered a Breakfast Burrito and Daddy's Special Omelet, both with chorizo Mexican spicy sausage. With apparently only one cook, it was nearly 30 minutes to be served. During the wait the house filled for lunch. The ambient noise from conversation, kitchen, music system and stone walls became loud and beyond reasonable comfort level. It was really annoying. The food itself was okay, but nothing outrageous. Quantity offset its shortcomings to some extent, and while Daddy's O was zoftig with the home fries loaded within the egg cover and the rye toast a nice crisp balance to the savoriness of the chorizo, onion, pepper and melted queso, the burrito had exactly the same taste without the textural interplay. Maybe we should have seen it coming, but we didn't. It was underwhelming. We took half home not knowing if we would actually finish it. Beautiful countryside in this corner of Pennsylvania, making it still worth the drive.

.....The feeling you get when you're just taking a Sunday Country drive, get hungry, and discover a gem! I've only had one thing so far, "Daddy's Omelette", but it was EXCELLENT! The coffee was fresh, the young lady who waited on me was prompt and courteous. The place was clean and the atmosphere was rustic and laid back! I can't wait to go back again!

I was in Newark yesterday and needed a place for breakfast. I found this place online and decided to make the detour to check it out. It's a quaint little place. Very clean feel. The service was nice, not rushed. Seems family oriented. I ordered the farmers omelet with egg whites and it was well done. I enjoyed my little visit here.

Fabulous little place out in the country that we just happened to stumble across in our travels, and I'm glad we did! The hubby and I had a very nice brunch at Daddy's on Father's Day (very fitting restaurant name for the day, I thought!). The menu is a very nice mix of American and Mexican items... I loved the Daddy's Special Omelet (chorizo, bacon, chihuahua cheese and Pico) which came with some very good home fries and a biscuit (my choice). The old man had a Reuben and fries which were both cooked perfectly, and some really yummy mushroom soup (and I don't even like mushrooms!). The service was great and the food came out quickly as well. We will definitely be back!

We started with the crab bisque, fried flounder sandwich with crab fries, chicken piccata and we took the chocolate cake home for later. Everything we had at the cafe was made to order and delicious, with obvious attention to presentation. The soup had nice chunks of crab, but a little less creamy than what I was used to. The flounder sauce and fish was very yummy, but I wished I had more of that sauce on the side. The filet was ever so slightlyyyyyy overcooked. My wife found the chicken too thick, thinking it could've been pounded a little thinner and with more capers. Other than that, she found the dish delightful. It would have been a five star night except for these nit picky issues.

It was less a sauce and more of a discolored lumpy paste. The dish./meal was cold in some spots and hot in other spots - the shrimp was rubbery - so it was obviously microwaved. It was not made fresh. It was absolutely disgusting. Over all, it felt like an insult - uneatable and unpresentable. Whomever cooked it should be ashamed to allow such a dish to go out into the dining room. It was completely unacceptable. I had been to this restaurant a few times before as my wife likes it. My only other problems were that they occasionally served cold french fries. I am done with this place. I had originally heard that the people who opened it were part of a group that had successful restaurants and cared about serving good food. It is not that now. Until I hear otherwise, I will never return... not even if it were free. The waitress said she'd get the manager - but the manager never showed. I did not have to pay for the Cajun Pasta...
