Great sit down quick service restaurant near the airport. Fast service, good food and reasonably priced. Our server was friendly and offered great suggestions on favorites. We ordered the half order of the stuffed French toast, the Local sampler with Portuguese sausage on the side, and we order the fried chicken to go for the plane ride home. French toast was so delicious with a creamy cream cheese filling with fresh cut fruit, solid eggs meal. The fried chicken was so good- we ate it 3 hours later and it was still crispy and juicy. Eating out can be expensive anywhere but definitely is in Kauai. Desiring to have a good breakfast but at an affordable cost, my wife and I ventured away from the hotel restaurant to Daddy O's found in a small shopping center in town. We walked in, chose our seats, and were greeted by our waitress immediately. We ordered our drinks and browsed the menu. The drinks came quickly and we ordered which also came quickly soon after ordering. My wife had an omelet and to her surprise was ho-hum. It was very basic and not packed with flavor. I on the other hand opted for French Toast, Sunnyside Up Eggs, and bacon. I can say that I was completely satisfied with my plate of food. Zero complaints. So glad Daddy O opens at 7am because due to jet lag we were up at 6am every morning on our trip. Daddy O is a very casual diner walking distance from where we were staying. I got the French toast plate with scrambled eggs and Portuguese sausage. The French toast was fluffy, eggy and lightly sweetened! I only had put some butter on top and it was so good! Hubby decided to try the stuffed shrimp benedict since we never heard of it before. I believe it's a mixed of ground shrimp and imitation crab. This place is located in a strip mall and was relatively easy to find. We had an appointment to get to, so we ordered to go. We got the breakfast burrito, the local breakfast and a coffee. It was overall not great- very greasy and standard at best. This is our first and last time here. We are tourists and read the nice reviews on this place so wanted to try it out. It is located in a really old mini mall in an uneven asphalt lot. We hardly found it as their business name really didn't stand out until you came close to the door. We were seated promptly. Servers were really nice and brought us waters. We looked at the menu and everything looked nice in the pics. We both ordered the local breakfast. Unfortunately these lacked flavor and presentation. The hash browns in hubby's breakfast was dry. The scrambled eggs in my order was runny. Portion size was fit for a child. We ordered mini pancakes. That, too, looked like it was a child's portion. You can get better short stacks at Denny's or IHOP for same price and better quality. Keep in mind, they CHARGE you for HOT water in a cup at 50 cents each! The restaurant is quaint in size and outdated. I oddly felt like I was getting bitten by mosquitoes under the table. Told my hubby we had to hurry and get out. Could have been mold or mildew if it wasn't mosquitoes. The owners, husband and wife, made small talk with the regulars. When paying instead of asking how was everything, he said "where you heading to?" Odd. Anyhow, we're never coming back here. I just didn't feel they paid much attention to us after we got our meals. This morning I woke up excited to try Daddy O's. Upon entering the restaurant we're greeted by an older Asian man that points and tells us to sit at an open table. We disregard the rudeness and have a seat. We're then greeted by a waitress with coffee and water. She was so nice I wish I got her name because she was definitely pleasant. The older Asian gentleman comes over to take our order. As Im speaking he disregards me and what Im asking for. Making me feel like im not a customer paying my money to eat in his establishment. My friend orders and he does the same thing. After he leaves i ask my friend if he felt the same way and we were in agreement. I would not patronize an establishment that clearly didn't want my money. We offered to pay for our coffee which was actually good and came to Kauai diner where the service was excellent. Stopped off here for breakfast as it was recommended by a local. It is a mom and pops type of cafe. It happened to have more holiday makers that locals when we arrived. Plus it was minutes from the airport which was helpful. Food wise, you have all your local dishes. Breakfast plates, rice dishes, and so on. We had the shrimp stuffed benedict and a plate that offered everything. Not quite sure the name but came with rice, sasuage, hash brown, of course spam, eggs, bacon and ham. Food was good. This was our favorite spot on the island for breakfast. I had chicken and pancakes, I am not a waffle fan so I was allowed to change to pancakes. Me & my Sweety are working our way down a list of supposed 5-star eateries. Today we hit up Daddy-Os for breakfast. Our experience is what it is, so 2 stars is our vote. First off, our food was very bland and sub-par. We decided it was on the same level as a Denny's on the mainland. Where the 5-star entrees that are written about come from is a mystery to us. The elderly gent that seated us and eventually took our order had to be reminded by another employee to take our order. His attitude toward us was...I don't know what words to use...annoyed that we showed up is all I can come up with. Then, of course, he screwdriver up our order. My gal's pancakes were not macadamia as ordered but regular...and very bisquicky in tastelessness to boot. My omelet is still a mystery as to type. The bill had a few mystery upcharges, including a 50 cent per egg surcharge which we had neglected to read anywhere was being added to the bill...which is obviously not a financial burden on us since we're vacationing in Kauai...but that nickle/diming thing sort of irks me. After insisting and insisting on eating Kaua'i regular ppl food not only fancy restaurant / tourist food -- this place set the bar up high! 1. The Army veteran owner was friendly and engaging. He prepared an off menu pupu platter for two that we snacked on at the NaWiliWili Harbor later that afternoon. He also owns the WikiWiki spot a couple doors down closer to the bowling alley. 2. Naomi took our order who we found out later was the owners daughter. She was polite and quick, friendly and personable. I hear she moved back home to take up the reigns. 3. The food was served fast, hot, and ono ono ono! Compliments to the chef !! 4. The hard working Pake lady was like an automated machine working behind the scenes. I hear she works 6 days a week 10ths a day? She can reach the young ones a thing or two. 5. Flew out to Kauai on the first flight out and went to breakfast at Daddy O's. There was a lot of parking and upon entering the restaurant it was somber clean quiet. The menu was simple and easy on the eyes. Our order was taken and it was received quickly. We ordered Banana pancake, and their early bird special with coffee and water. My party of five visited Daddy O's while visiting Kauai for a hiking excursion. We stopped by for some breakfast before heading out and we got to meet Harry, who we later found out his the owner. He is definitely the heart of the restaurant. He made us feel welcomed and at home, as if we never left Oahu. Majority of our party ordered loco moco's which was so ono! He recommended several dishes we should try and my husband being a restaurant chef himself, gave his approval on everything he tasted! If we didn't have the hike to go on, we would have just sat there till lunch time eating everything on the menu. The food is winners! Upon arrival, we were promptly seated in our tables. Browsing their menu, I instantly noticed and chose their chicken and waffles. Broasted Chicken and Waffles, mind you. The rest of the family ordered their usual Loco Moco. Not a few moments, our morning meals arrived. I immediately dug in to the broasted chicken and wonder, 'why would other chicken n' waffles houses not broast their chicken?' Ahh, the crunchiness and the juiciness of a broasted chicken is really imminent. The waffles were pretty good as well. The only regret I have is not ordering the larger portion. Went here as our last meal in Kauai and it hit the spot. The shrimp stuffed Benedict is noted on the menu as a yelp favorite and it's worthy of the praise. It really knocked it out of the park.
