Best breakfast on the island! We came here every morning for breakfast. I don't know what they do to their French toast but it is hands down the best I've ever had! They're so fast and friendly. The artwork on the walls is beautiful as well. Never once left hungry or disappointed!
A friend suggested this place for us when we went to Kauai. When we got here the place was a little picked but it has a homey feeling to it. The staff were very friendly. I definitely had to try the ono loco moco because where ever I go and they have a moco and need to try it and I must say it's one of the best moco I've had. It looks plain but tastes yummy I would definitely order this again if we came back. But there is all kind of other things I would want to try from them the next time I come back to Kauai. Definitely coming back here to try everything else.
We went to Daddy O's after landing at the airport - we were all starving after a 5.5 hr flight so this was the a great stop for my family. My husband got the big daddy O plate (great for all the meats!!), I got the mini loco moco, and our daughters got the full stack of pancakes and the plain waffles. Everything was delicious and the staff was all very kind. My only thought is that the restaurant itself runs a bit more on the less ambient side, and feels a bit rustic. But honestly, we're happy and our tummies are pleased!
We came for brunch yesterday and found out why this place is so popular with locals. The breakfast plates are made with lots of aloha. The pancakes and plates were delicious. They had local dishes like loco moco and spam with rice. We tried their new featured dishes called a special Japanese pork tonkatsu. Wow! It's Best tonkatsu we ever had with juicy premium pork imported from Japan and cooked to perfection. They plan to offer it later in the afternoons and possibly evenings soon. The service was super friendly and helpful. The local restaurant is cozy and welcoming. They also have AC if it gets too warm. We love this island favorite.
Cutest little place that was open early! For under $10 you can get full from their Early Bird special. The workers were so sweet and refilled water and coffee often.
If you're looking for breakfast, this is a great choice! Especially if you like eggs Benedict and shrimp then this is a definite must try. Service was very friendly and the portions were great. My family had the original French toast and added the coconut macadamia sauce on top. We also ordered the breakfast plate with three meats, three eggs, hashbrowns, and rice. There's plenty of parking outside and inside the restaurant there's comfortable seating.
Had a very confusing experience here ordering through the Yelp app. I ordered as we were driving to the restaurant, but the order status stayed at "pending confirmation from the restaurant" and never updated to "pick up ready". I had no idea what to expect when I arrived to pick up my order, but luckily my order was ready. It sounds like at least for Yelp, they get incoming orders but don't have the ability to send updates back. I wouldn't recommend ordering via the Yelp app as you don't get order updates and prices are more inflated than ordering directly from the restaurant. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the wait didn't seem that bad and we were starving, so we asked if we could get a table and eat our takeout order there. After waiting ~10 minutes, we got a table and I finally opened the food. I'm really glad I decided to eat here, because they actually packed the wrong dish for me. I ordered the stuffed shrimp plate, but they misread that as the stuffed shrimp benedict. I told them about their mistake and they quickly remade my dish. I didn't realize they drizzle hollandaise sauce over the shrimp plate and would've asked them to remove it had I known, since I'm not a fan of the stuff. But after scraping off most of the sauce, I found myself really enjoying the stuffed shrimp. I'm not sure what goes into the stuffing, but there was definitely a lot of mushroom and other tasty thing. The stuffed shrimp paired with some rice really hit the spot after biking in the morning. Portion for this was on the smaller side though. My friend got the broasted chicken breakfast and thought it was just okay. We both felt it was dry. Since we were dining in, my friend ordered a coffee and we shared a mini order of their popular macadamia nut pancakes ($8.75) to try as well. Very happy they offer various sizes of their pancakes for folks like me who just want to try a few bites. I usually prefer savory dishes at brunch but the coconut sauce on top was bomb! Would recommend.

Daddy O's in Lihue is a simple but classic restaurant serving up Hawaiian/Asia pacific style faire. I went for breakfast with my family. I ordered the local breakfast with bacon. I thought it was really great for what it was. It's affordable and filling and it's a fair price. The service was great. We even got to speak to the owner Daddy O and we learned he was in business at this location for about 10 years and he was a former commander of a gunship at 20 in Vietnam the Vietnam War. WOW. When he is not serving up yummy food in his restaurant he is giving aerial tours and teaching flight lessons for planes and helicopters. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the street, but it is definitely a place you will want to go during your time in Kauai.
My omelet and hash browns were made to order, so they were fresh and tasted good. Our table also ordered the steak and eggs, Eggs Benedict, and pancakes. The steak wasn't a premium cut, which is understandable for the price, but it had quite a bit of fat that needed to be trimmed off before eating. The Eggs Benedict was edible, but it ranked on the lower end compared to others I've had. It wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't something I'd order again. The pancakes were decent. The staff were very friendly and mentioned that they serve Japanese food on certain evenings, which sounded interesting. Overall, the experience wasn't bad, but it also wasn't memorable enough to make me want to come back. There are other places I'd rather try before returning here.
Tried Daddy O's for breakfast with my family and was pleasantly surprised. We got seated right away and our food came out fast. Our server was super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Ono Omelet which was really tasty. I had anticipated that it would be pretty oily because of the spam and Portuguese sausage inside, but it wasn't oily at all. The spot is tucked away in the back of a plaza, so it's easy to miss, but definitely worth finding.
Just the perfect mom and pop restaurant we needed during our stay in Kauai! We came here twice and really enjoyed the food. Breakfast and lunch served all day. We met the owner Henry and he was super welcoming. Remembered us on our second visit. We didn't know what to order so he started us off with Chinese sui mai and steamed pork bun. Good app to start off with! Speciality of the day was the prime rib sandwich, we went with his recommendation and it did not disappoint. My wife enjoyed the sandwich. What really made us come back the second time was the macadamia pancakes. I don't really order pancakes but I wanted to try something more local especially with macadamia. I'll have to say this is the best pancakes I've ever been served. Super fluffy, warm, and the best part was the coconut cream. That literally sold it for me. Henry was right when he told us we'd come back after our first visit. We also tried the breakfast burrito also. Just the right size and everything you can ask for inside a Hawaiian breakfast burrito. Great spot, will recommend anyone to come try!

Well, this was our last stop before we went to the airport. There was a lot of good reviews so we decided to give it a try.. We met Daddio such a nice guy lotta history he's been there for a while, but he's familiar with the bay area. They were very friendly, professional, attentive. The atmosphere is laid-back, cozy, clean and inviting. OK if you've been reading my reviews; I'm very picky about my eggs and I like them over easy. They made them perfect, the bacon was delicious and my sourdough toast was perfect. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast and they loved how their eggs were cooked to their liking. If you are ever in this area or heading to the airport in Kauai, you have to try this place, it is absolutely delicious. read more

Service was great! Breakfast was hearty and tasty and best bang for your buck considering the prices in Hawaii. We got the short rib on special which was so tender. First time at Daddy O's--sadly, on the day we were leaving! I wanted to try everything, but then the owner (who was also taking our order) mentioned the specials... one was garlic shrimp--my weakness. That sealed it. I asked him to choose for me, and he brought out the garlic shrimp plate--at 9:15am! I've never had shrimp, rice, and mac salad for breakfast, but wow--this was my 6th garlic shrimp plate this trip (Oahu + Kauai), and it's one of the best. The shrimp was scrumptious, topped with crispy garlic and bursting with flavor. My husband and my sister had the French toast with spam and eggs--French toast was yummy, and the spam was perfectly cooked and delicious. My super picky brother ordered the mahi plate and loved it. We also shared a coconut macadamia pancake--fluffy, perfect, and topped with the most delicious sauce. So sad we found Daddy O's at the end of our trip--we would've eaten here again for sure. Joy, our server, was a gem. We even took a photo with her and the owner to remember them when we're home and dreaming of their food. Highly recommend! read more

On our way to Poipu, we saw Daddy Os for some breakfast. Located in a strip mall, it doesn't look like much. Friendly service! Turn down the pineapple!!! It would seem like the pineapple is something they give complimentary by the way they present it but it's not. It's $6 for some pathetic pineapple pieces with some seasoning on it. Totally not worth it. That was the only disappointing thing. Other than that I got their Ox Tail soup and my husband got half an order of the loco moco. The loco moco was the better ones we had on this island. The beef patty was nicely seasoned and charred. And then my ox tail soup, it was very good! I'm glad I got it. Local diner with great food and service. Definitely a no frills type of place, but this is what made it great! You can tell that the locals come here and this is what we wanted! Great sit down quick service restaurant near the airport. Fast service, good food and reasonably priced. Our server was friendly and offered great suggestions on favorites. We ordered the half order of the stuffed French toast, the Local sampler with Portuguese sausage on the side, and we order the fried chicken to go for the plane ride home. French toast was so delicious with a creamy cream cheese filling with fresh cut fruit, solid eggs meal. The fried chicken was so good- we ate it 3 hours later and it was still crispy and juicy. A little hole in the wall place in a shopping center. I got the ube pancakes. My husband got French toast and eggs. I LOVED the ube pancakes wowwww so good. My husbands was good too but you can get French toast and eggs anywhere. I guess they are known for their oxtail soup. It looked like everyone in the restaurant had it but us. So it must be good. Eating out can be expensive anywhere but definitely is in Kauai. Desiring to have a good breakfast but at an affordable cost, my wife and I ventured away from the hotel restaurant to Daddy O's found in a small shopping center in town. We walked in, chose our seats, and were greeted by our waitress immediately. We ordered our drinks and browsed the menu. The drinks came quickly and we ordered which also came quickly soon after ordering. My wife had an omelet and to her surprise was ho-hum. It was very basic and not packed with flavor. I on the other hand opted for French Toast, Sunnyside Up Eggs, and bacon. I can say that I was completely satisfied with my plate of food. Zero complaints. Maybe Hawaii does omelets differently than we do in California? Outside of the lackluster omelet, the food was good, the service was quick, and the price was right. read more

So glad Daddy O opens at 7am because due to jet lag we were up at 6am every morning on our trip. Daddy O is a very casual diner walking distance from where we were staying. I got the French toast plate with scrambled eggs and Portuguese sausage. The French toast was fluffy, eggy and lightly sweetened! I only had put some butter on top and it was so good! Hubby decided to try the stuffed shrimp benedict since we never heard of it before. I believe it's a mixed of ground shrimp and imitation crab. The next thing I knew, hubby's plate was completely empty! Great breakfast and good service, food came out quickly since there was only one other couple dining in at 7am. read more

This place is located in a strip mall and was relatively easy to find. We had an appointment to get to, so we ordered to go. We got the breakfast burrito, the local breakfast and a coffee. It was overall not great- very greasy and standard at best. It was also kind of strange because when I went in to pick up, there was a bird flying around and no one seemed bothered by it except me. read more
This is our first and last time here. We are tourists and read the nice reviews on this place so wanted to try it out. It is located in a really old mini mall in an uneven asphalt lot. We hardly found it as their business name really didn't stand out until you came close to the door. We were seated promptly. Servers were really nice and brought us waters. We looked at the menu and everything looked nice in the pics. We both ordered the local breakfast. Unfortunately these lacked flavor and presentation. The hash browns in hubby's breakfast was dry. The scrambled eggs in my order was runny. Portion size was fit for a child. We ordered mini pancakes. That, too, looked like it was a child's portion. You can get better short stacks at Denny's or IHOP for same price and better quality. Keep in mind, they CHARGE you for HOT water in a cup at 50 cents each! The restaurant is quaint in size and outdated. I oddly felt like I was getting bitten by mosquitoes under the table. Told my hubby we had to hurry and get out. Could have been mold or mildew if it wasn't mosquitoes. The owners, husband and wife, made small talk with the regulars. When paying instead of asking how was everything, he said "where you heading to?" Odd. Anyhow, we're never coming back here. I just didn't feel they paid much attention to us after we got our meals. Casual mom and pop breakfast spot in Lihue. No frills, just delicious food. We both got the early bird special and split a short stack of pancakes, YUM!Service was quick and the staff was kind and checked on us frequently. They even gave us some beach recommendations. Stopped off here for breakfast as it was recommended by a local. It is a mom and pops type of cafe. It happened to have more holiday makers that locals when we arrived. Plus it was minutes from the airport which was helpful. Food wise, you have all your local dishes. Breakfast plates, rice dishes, and so on. We had the shrimp stuffed benedict and a plate that offered everything. Not quite sure the name but came with rice, sasuage, hash brown, of course spam, eggs, bacon and ham. Food was good. Restroom on the other hand was way outside around the corner from the complex. A code of given for entrance. Overall, it was ok. read more

Love this place and Mr Daddy O himself. Such a great man with a wonderful story. All the recipes are his own. He has tremendous passion for his craft and is always looking for new ideas. Food comes out fast and ONO! My favorite dish is the coconut pancakes and loco moco. My daughter had the chicken and waffles and they did not disappoint. My other daughter loved the UBE cakes! Lol. We actually came up with the breakfast burrito when we were doing fish tacos! Just recently we created an anchor chili sauce to go with it to give it just a little bit of a kick. So glad you enjoyed it.
Do they serve loco moco during breakfast hour?
