been a colleague of a korean girl is a real bonus when it comes to this hidden gem! i was introduced to this restaurant where she visited and which is absolutely highly recommended by her. so we decided to go together with a japanese colleague for a work lunch together... it is like how it was described to me - very low key looking as it is pretty much like a residential house with its front part made like an entrance to cosy little cafe (a few chairs and tables were around). u may miss it if you walk past it in a hurry!
well, speaking of korean food, kimchi is always the first thing on my mind - so i was motivated to try kimchi pork stirfry for $10. same choice made by my 2 colleagues. the guy at the counter was super friendly and nice. We paid then took a seat outside in the front chatting while waiting for our orders. it wasn't taking too long before we were served, the presentation of food was absolutely beautiful with chopsticks and spoons nicely placed on the side together with a piece of paper napkin (very attention to details!), plus the colour, the smell...everything made me wanna drool! I was literally the first that finished the dish, cos yummy food never stays long is what i believe especially when im hungry at lunch oclock. The kimchi and pork slices were stir fried to perfection cos the flavor was so rich (a little bit spicy which i like and it gave me a good kick!), the meat was tender - very easy to chew (dont worry if you have bad teeth!). the rice had beautiful texture as it was just perfectly cooked (meaning not too soft and not hard - i'd say 'quality rice" is what it is), it came with sesame seeds and other flavored tiny little things sprinkled on top...last but not least, there was a bit of salad which refreshed my taste bud before and after the dish.
overall, i'd be keen to revisit and try something different - maybe kimchi dumplings for a work lunch! read more
