Normally, I don't ever come back to a colorist with issues, so this was a first for me, but I was glad to work with her to fix it. The management was awful from the start. I called to make my appointment and she had me tell her what I was having done. I have no idea, I don't know the different color techniques or what I should have done. Turns out they wanted to know how much time I would need in the chair. I would have no idea. Then I had a serious issue with the color itself. The front is brassy blond with odd root lines showing and the back is almost a white blond. But I was happy to go in for a fix. Management called me prior to my "fix it" appointment and I was grilled demanding to know my entire hair color history over the phone, I'm not a colorist so I had no idea how to explain it or what I was going to need to have done to fix it. The I was accused of being unhappy with what I told the colorist to do. Huh? If a customer is unhappy and kindly requests a fix, why didn't she have me come in and evaluate herself, rather than grill me over the phone? Turns out she was concerned about how much time I would require in a chair, again. Also, she informed me that I'd have to pay for the blow out after it was fixed. I am supposed to walk out with wet hair and assume the color looks good? She explained you weren't happy with the color, not the blow out. So, you have to pay for the blowout. WHAT? The tone used, the excuses, the blame the customer attitude and my hair still isn't the way I'd like it.

A lot of the other hair/nail salons in Belchertown have limited days/hours. 2) accepts credit cards. I'm shocked that in this day and age, some salons don't accept credit cards... that's just a dumb business move. 3) eyebrow waxing is done here. Again, I'm shocked that one of the nail salons I went to doesn't do waxing. I was, however, a little disappointed in my wax job ($12). I have a feeling she doesn't do too many, because I was left with quite a few stray hairs that I had to pluck out later. Additionally, the hair grew back right away which infers that the hair wasn't really completely removed, more like broken off at the surface. Her credit card machine is one of those Amazon squares and it had a really hard time reading my card. I ended up having to go get cash back from a grocery store to pay her. Cathy is super friendly, accommodating, and helpful. I could tell by the number of people going in and out, that she is quite the popular choice for hair styling/cuts. I will definitely stop in again, should I find myself in need of an emergency wax, and just be sure to have her "clean up" any last minute strays.

The clientele ranges from the more conservative "cut-just-an-inch" type to the more daring "i-want-something-different" type. Whoever you are, In Vogue will make you a happy girl (or boy). My appointment was with Tara, who is the most fun, passionate and knowledgeable stylists I've ever worked with. When she talks to you, you can tell she's very excited about what she does and that her heart goes into it 100%. Seriously. We had Katie on makeup and Megan on hair. They arrived on time with everything they needed and were friendly, fun and kept everything running smoothly throughout the day. Katie made me the woodland fairy princess of my dreams and Megan definitely understood the assignment when I asked for a bohemian fishtail braid with flowers integrated into the whole thing. She even practiced on a mannequin at home after my trial to get everything just right. Truly can't say enough good things about HHB! Oh, I also had a lash lift and tint by Ashley a week or so before the wedding and she did an amazing job as well. I asked do not take more than an inch off as she was cutting. She cut off so much I look like a kindergartner who cut their own hair. I said they were too short . Her response - "don't worry they'll grow back" . But in the meantime I need to deal with super short bangs?? Really?? - Secondly she added toner to my hair after the highlights (was never done previously) which made my hair look darker. Why? I specifically said I liked my previous hair color. Why change it without asking me ??? - THE KILLER - charged me 25% more than my last appointment without any notice. So expecting to pay $140 (w/o tip) for my hair appt was now $185. It's ironic that I continually get reminders of my hair appointment via text & email but no forewarning of the price increase. She stated that the price increase was because the rent went up, product prices went up and all the girls here are so good. I DON'T THINK SO !!
