The eggplant was too smokey and mushrooms too bitter for my taste, but then, maybe my American palette just isn't accustomed to this stuff. Dessert was a chocolate couldn't (large!) paired with a tiny scoop of ice cream. Honestly, I found the chocolate so strong that I found the ice cream virtually tasteless. The bitter orange sauce was lovely, though. I'd give the food 3.5 stars but given the price, I'm inclined to give it more a 3. The dessert was very well balanced and wasn't overly sweet. The prices here were great and affordable. If a restaurant like this was in the US, the dishes hands down would be at least $10+. The service here was great. The staff was very attentive and were patient. They took the time to explain what was on the menu in English for us (menus are only in Spanish). If you decide to come here, you'll want to make a reservation online because it is popular. At the end of our meal, they treated us to a shot of limoncello. If this wasn't our last meal in Seville, we would definitely return to try other dishes on the menu!

After suggesting it to my family, we decided to try it out, and Zelai blew our expectations out of the water! Their menu has some of the most interesting dishes I've seen, and they really seem to experiment with all sorts of food combinations. One of the most surprising was the seasonal salad with mandarin sorbet, I didn't eat it myself but the rest of my family liked it so much they ordered a second. I had the confit cheeks which were nice and tender, and my mom had the cuttlefish brioche which looked amazing. We ended with dessert, and ordered 3 for the table to satisfy our sweet tooths. We had the ensaladilla, garbanzo beans, egg in mashed potatoes with truffle oil, salted rice and wild boar taco. We ended dinner with Sexy Chocolate. Add in an amazing wine and beer menu in a quaint off the beaten path location and you have the makings for a dinner I won't soon forget. And...less than 40 Euros. Our older one was able to sit on the chair regularly but it was a precarious situation. Only two PE keeping this place alive. The chef in the kitchen is meticulous with his craft and the kind hearted lady out front literally does everything else. They make an excellent team!
