Beach bar in Positano off the beaten path. About a 15 min walking journey up and down stairs across Positano from where the ferries drop you off. Very casual. Walked in without any type of reservation for two. Two seating options: deck seating for a traditional dining experience or beach lounge chair where you can order food/drink out to. Ordered a variety of spritzes which were reasonably priced for a touristy area. About $8. Very refreshing and tasting. Also ordered a few different dishes like prosciutto with cantaloupe, seafood pasta, and more seafood. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and the pasta was perfectly cooked. Was also my first time having prosciutto with cantaloupe which was a fantastic combo. Da Ferdinando makes for a nice lunch that's away from where a majority of the tourists eat/drink so if you're looking for beachy vibes, less crowds, and great food and are willing to walk a bit, I would recommend.

I challenge you to find a better casual beach side vibe combined with excellent fare in the ENTIRE Mediterranean! Loved the mix of 18-60 year old "beach boy" servers and the great view and environment on the less crowded Fornillo Beach in Positano. Was so happy when the chef agreed to prepare the regional favorite Spaghetti alla Nerano that several vlogs I had viewed said they featured but wasn't on their seasonal menu (July). The dish did not disappoint and was the best version we tried during several days all over the Amalfi Coast.

This is the best beach in Positano. The music playing the best service. Amazing food and craft cocktails!! The beach clubs near by don't have the same level of service and no music. This is the best spot to book.

Our favorite meal in Positano so far. My husband and I split the Insalata mixta (loved the green olives on it) and the fried calamari, and asked them to add shrimp and sardines - they were delicious, too, especially the mild sardines! We enjoyed a Hugo spritz to start, then a glass of their house white wine with lunch, which was really good, and just €4. My daughter was very happy with her swordfish, too. Breathtaking setting - right on Fornillo beach, and so much more relaxing and less crowded than the main beach. Sat overlooking the blue ocean, blue skies, and palapas. Great music playing, too. They have a "beach club" too, so I rented a chair and umbrella for €30. (Front row was €40, but everything was sold out, except back row, by noon on this sunny Saturday). You can order drinks and food from their servers on the beach, too. Pretty civilized. Altogether, an incredible experience.

A very cute beach club/restaurant on the smaller Fornillo beach adjacent to Spaggio Grande. You can actually take a small complimentary boat from the main beach in Positano to Fornillo Beach, but it's also a nice 10/15min walk from beach to beach. It's definitely a quieter and seemingly more private beach! We got chairs in the first row for 30€ per person. They have a menu where you can order cocktails or bottles (we got aperol spritzs and Prosecco). You can also order food to eat at your chair. We made lunch reservations at 12pm, and we had spaghetti nerano, prawns, and red shrimp carpaccio. Everyone who worked there was lovely and attentive. Make sure to call ahead for a chair/lunch reservation!

Fornillo Beach, where Da Ferdinando is located, is a short 15-minute walk from the Poistano port. 15 minutes and a world away, atmospherically, from the crowds of Americans sitting shoulder to shoulder on Positano's main beach. Fornillo appealed to the side of me that prefers a quieter atmosphere. Lining the shore of Fornillo Beach are a string of beach clubs followed by a small public beach at the end. For those not familiar with beach clubs here's what's on offer: * a chaise lounge with beach umbrella; * food and drink served at that chaise lounge; * use of things like rafts, SUPs, and kayaks; and * restrooms and changing rooms. Day one I identified Da Ferdinando as the best of the lot, after looking at the menus, atmosphere, and reviews of all of the other beach clubs and stopping here for a drink. Days 2 and 3 I returned to De Ferdinando's to reserve a chaise lounge and spent the day being spoiled by their staff with food and cocktails far better than that I had almost anyplace else in Poistano. Near the end of my stay I ran into a couple I'd met on Day 1; they had tried another beach club only to conclude that Da Ferdinando's was indeed the best. Prices may change as the summer goes on, but in May a chaise lounge with umbrella, closest to the water, was about $20USD for the day. One or two rows back (that's about as far as the rows go) or later in the day the price drops significantly. Including a delicious lunch and a cocktail or two I never exceeded $50USD for the entire day. Though the walk to Da Ferdinando is short it's not flat so it's worth knowing that Da Ferdinando offers motor boat service, free of charge, to and from the Positano port. It's a nice way to get out on the water without being in the water and to keep from sweating through your clothes in Italy's summer heat. Da Ferdinando was splendid. Were I returning to Positano I've little doubt it's where I'd again spend almost every day.

Our visit to this restaurant was a very pleasant one. It was recommended to us by another tourist and I will recommend the future tourist to go here. Few minutes away from the crowded Positano beach you will find Fornillo Beach. They offer beach chairs and umbrellas so you can lounge here all day swimming , drinking cold beer and eating delicious food. We took the free boat to here but later I found out that you can walk there through town. But walking in Positano is very challenging so just take the boat. The customer service is wonderful, the prices are very reasonable and the views are breathtaking. Perfect place to swim and avoid crowds.

Absolutely fantastic... saw this in a tik tok by a Positano influencer CHRISTIE https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPR7u4kjW/. As advertised a wonderful and friendly beach front restaurant with a more secluded beach -15 min walking distance or boat taxi with excellent food and drinks that also sells beach chairs.

The food at da Ferdinando was excellent. The pasta was creamy and flavorful and the lemon sorbet was very refreshing. They also served a fresh basket of bread. Everything was great including the service.

    Trifecta of tasty drinks!

Great place for checking out the beach in Positano! This is located on the smaller beach in town, so it's nice not being in the middle of all the commercial stuff. Also, even though it's only a short walk away, rental prices are more affordable than at the big beach. Along with a chair rental on the beach, you get WiFi and free access to the shuttle back to the main beach where the water taxi docks. Also, while on the beach chair, you can order drinks from the menu that they'll bring right to your chair. We ordered two drinks when we were there, and both were really good. One was the house white wine, and the other was a drink with some ginger flavor that was really tasty. I'd come back here in a heartbeat on a future trip!

Your typical beach bar along Fornillo Beach. Pros: - fast service. We got seated immediately and got our food pretty quickly, which was key after finishing the Path of the Gods and needing a break. - good views for Fornillo Beach, a rocky beach immediately next to Positano - decently affordable - cocktails were 8 euro - free WiFi - pizza was tasty!

Those rocks get hot- wear shoes!

Food was awesome. The walk from the marina is a challenge so take a quick water taxi instead. But worth the walk for a great meal.

Many other reviewers have mentioned that this is the best meal that they've had in the entire country and unfortunately, without sounding like a false advertisement, I absolutely must agree. This was the best meal I have had in the entire country and I have traveled Italy extensively. They only have a couple of tables, the brothers, along with mama and Bridget, deliver an incredible meal, incredible experience, and the way the patrons feel after the experience cannot be matched. What the hell if we ordered Caesar salad, then meatballs, then gnocchi, then seafood with linguine, then the local catch of the day which today was amberjack, then ribeye, then dessert. I'm not alone in my prayer of this restaurant, my wife and my three children are unanimous that this was the absolute best meal that they have had in Italy. I strongly recommend this restaurant, but I would mention that you need to get there early because they do not take reservations. Please feel free to joke with Bridget about her Texan roots and her hallmark story which caused her to settle in Positano!

This was our first meal after arriving in Positano and we couldn't have asked for a better one. We arrived in Positano around 10 PM on a Saturday night. This restaurant was on our itinerary and was a 2 minute walk from our hotel. We walked up around 10:30 and they sat us immediately on the outdoor patio. We ordered grilled octopus to start and it might have been the freshest and tastiest grilled octopus I've ever eaten. We also ordered a spicy green sauce pasta that was top 3 best things we ate on our entire trip. I wish I knew the name of it so that I could mention it here. We also ordered a prosciutto and burrata pizza. My wife isn't a huge fan of prosciutto so she didn't enjoy it as much as I did. But I would happily eat that pizza again and again. The staff were very kind and friendly. They didn't ever seem annoyed that we came in later at night. Every day that we walked past them to go into the main center of Positano, they smiled and invited us back in or asked how we were doing. They don't have the same view that other restaurants might have, but what they lack in a view, they make up for in quality and service.
