The mussels to start are a must! The seafood salad was so tender it melted in your mouth. The fresh variety of fish you can choose from is beyond. I ordered the paccheri pasta with pistachios and shrimp. I believe this would be hands down one of the best dishes I ever had. The service is spot on. No need to have to speak their language. We ordered take away because I needed to try some pasta while in Tuscany. But did not want to sit down for three course meal. We ordered the ravioli with the walnut cream sauce. This was unlike anything I've ever tasted before. It was so delicious. I could've probably eaten two servings of this. I'm sure Da Carlo has many more wonderful dishes to try. Four of us stopped here for lunch and had a wonderful meal. The calamari was fresh and crisp, the seafood pasta was so good, and the grilled tuna steak was fresh and cooked just right. Lovely seafood restaurant. Ambiance and food. Service is somewhat slower because you're not supposed to be in a rush and it gets crowded starting around 8:00 pm. We had a huge mussels appetizer to share among three of us, then I had spaghetti vongole. Delizioso. Good bread. Good wine. They serve meats as well but we went for the seafood. Decent restaurant in Selvatelle frequented mainly by locals. Try and speak a little Italian and you'll get a lovely smile and attentive service from the young waitress. The menu is quite extensive and I would recommend the cold seafood starter with prawns in a cocktail sauce and follow with mixed fried fish platter or a Mediterranean salad with tuna. Food was tasty, service good and at around €45 for 2, with a bottle of house white, good value for money. There is a big car parking area outside.  Just make sure you get there at the appropriate eating time as the restaurant closes at around 3pm read more

We tried da Carlo's after arriving in the area on our first night. The welcome was friendly and the outside terrace was lively. The range of dishes on the menu is huge, something for every taste. Although that often sends warning signals out to me as I would question how a kitchen can support such a wide range of dishes. However it is clear from the menu that many of the items are prepared from frozen. So choose with care and you will be fine. We ordered some Antipasti cured meats, which arrived promptly and tasted Ok. But nothing special. Drinks are good value with a wide range of local options. Our primi and seconde raised the bar much higher. Pasta was well cooked and the sauces tasted great. Fish in particular was very fresh and grilled to perfection. Pizzas looked great and tasted great also. This place is really good value and if you chose wisely you will not be disappointed. read more

We had our first Tuscany dinner here after checking in at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club Borgo Alle Vigne. The restaurant was easy to find as it was right along the main road to the hotel. Many restaurants were closed on Monday so we were glad it's open.and not crowded. Or was large and bright. Our server spoke fluent English. The menu in Italian English and German offered many selections. The prices were very reasonable. We had the house white wine which was quite good after a long day of travel. The beer was good as well. The primi pasta dishes(bolognese, clams and salmon) were nicely done (@ €7,half of what we paid in Milan just the day before). The tasty pork secondi was €7 as well. Added salads and roasted vegetable as sides and it's another €14 for 4 people. For dessert we tried the flambé truffle and a special pudding of the day. All in all, a satisfying, enjoyable and hassle-free dinner to end a long day. There's a cover charge (coperto) @€2 pp which we felt was fair. read more

Simply amazing. After an afternoon of touring Tuscany, we stopped here based on a recommendation from the Hilton. I had the seafood carpaccio and the gnocchi with Gorgonzola cheese sauce. The carpaccio was fresh and light, with a perfect blend of tomatoes, spinach leaves and oil. The gnocchi were so flavorful despite just having a basic cheese sauce. Each one melted in your mouth. Don't forget to have dessert...just a simple strawberries and cream (with some gelato) will make you feel like you are eating healthy and have no guilt. There are not many restaurants nearby, but Da Carlo is a gem, especially if you stay at Borge Alle Vigne, a Hilton property in Salvatelle, less than a mile away. We dined three nights in one week's stay after some extensive sightseeing in Pisa, Lavorno and Firenze. Aside from dinners in those places on other nights, we had late nights at Da Carlo until 11 pm. The menu was vast, the food delicious, inexpensive and fast. Love the ambience and the helpful staff. Don't miss it! read more
