This place has seriously great reviews, so we wanted to try it and see what all the hype was about... It's definitely one of the better spots for traditional Italian food in the area! Service was excellent; friendly, helpful, and on-point! Their menu is also great, as they have all the popular items, plus many more that are interesting and fun. We were a group of four and tried several items that we all shared and we enjoyed everything. Save room for dessert, they do a very nice job with those as well. I don't think they offer reservations, so you need to get there early to try to grab a seat. They do have tons of seating in the courtyard area outside, so the wait isn't long, as long as the weather is conducive to sitting outside. Inside is rather small though. Absolutely loved everything we tried and would return! read more

Visited Gustapanino twice during our visit to Firenze Italy. This restaurant is rated higher than others in the area, which is why I chose to visit. On my first visit, we tried several dishes, including bolognese pasta, steak, and lasagna. All were very good. The lasagna was particularly good, while the bolognese took 2nd place, and the steak took 3rd. On the second visit, we realized they don't offer pizza, so we requested more pasta. This time, I went with spaghetti and meatballs, my daughter requested a cheesy pasta, and my wife requested the lasagna. My daughter's cheese pasta was very tasty and rich, but after she ate the whole dish, the richness was a tad overpowering. My wife loved the lasagna and my son and I very much enjoyed the spaghetti. It was excellent. They have great food and great service. Definitely recommend. read more

Very lovely and wonderful people. I felt at home, loved, and happy to be here. We sat outside a delightful experience. Lots of tables with smiling faces. We ordered an app, zucchini fondue. We licked the plate clean. Spaghetti, meatballs, potatoes, spinach, and ravioli was what we ordered. Before our reservation, we shopped in the plaza. We did come here on Sunday.. Reservation is 100% needed. Don't be shy to call on the phone they spoke English. While we were waiting in line, we were handed a glass of Prosecco. We did get a bottle of Chiante with dinner. Unfortunately, not recommended. Our dinner came out cold, it was corrected but this isn't the best meal we have had. The sauce wasn't good. I'm telling you there's better here: my mom's ravioli sauce & my spaghetti sauce was the exact same. It just wasn't good. Pass on this place. Come for drinks during the day. read more

They were busy but took our group of 4 right in. I tried the Limoncello Spritz and the April Spritz. I love Limoncello but found the spritz to be bitter, the Aperol Spritz was good though. I ordered the ribeye with pepper gravy and it was very good. My husband got the meatballs and he enjoyed them (I tried them and they weren't my fave). Overall we had a good experience, the square where the restaurant sits is such a cute spot so definitely check it out. read more

Gustapanino: My most frequented restaurant in florence is a place of permanent happiness, delicious food, impeccable service and really fun music. The owner pasquale is always there and generously offers a limoncello or a little prosecco to his clients. In front of one of the most beautiful churches of italy, basilica santo spirito, it's a most unique trattoria that you should not miss during your stay here. THIS. This restaurant is the one my group could not stop talking about. We had made jokes throughout our trip that some restaurants were good, but did not make us "transcend". This restaurant was transcendant! The absolute fan favorite was definitely the eggplant appetizer. We have never tasted eggplant in that way. The member in our group had to fight us off from "tasting" more bites of his dish. It was that good- definitely recommend that if stopping by. Additionally, the tortellini was delicious! Genuinely a 10/10, the highlight restaurant of our trip. The restaurant itself is also quite cozy and cute. It's very aesthetically pleasing. Incredible food and service. We went back multiple nights and loved it each time! It felt very authentic and they made us feel like family. We enjoyed everything from the focaccia bread to start the meal to the gnocchi, tortellini, and rib-eye. They use very fresh ingredients, and the service was excellent. We ordered the warm chocolate cake for dessert, which we enjoyed immensely. This was our second night eating at Gustapanino. The night before, we ordered Italian sandwiches for our group, and they made many varieties for us. Excellent! We also had a great Brunello. We can't wait to return the next time we are in Florence. read more

I typically don't leave reviews but had to on this one. TLDR: don't waste your time or money here. Like most restaurants in Italy, the service was terrible. Had to flag down a waiter to get our drinks and submit order (I've learned to submit order asap because it will be like 20 minutes before the waiter returns). I got a burger ( I know, but after 3 weeks of tiny pasta dishes I wanted something different and filling) with a side of spinach. I got spinach because we ordered the roasted potatoes for our 2 year old. The burger came out raw, and I tend to like my stuff on the raw side so the fact I was disappointed is saying something. The potatoes had no flavor except for olive oil, same with spinach. It's as if their idea of seasoning is to drown food in olive oil. I would've sent the burger back, but a server never came back by to see how everything came out (extremely typical of Italian service) and I didn't feel like waiting another hour for them to cook the burger. Had to flag a server down again for our check, which came about 10 minutes later. To be fair the first couple bites of burger seemed pretty tasty. read more

Gusta Panino is a very good restaurant located on the opposite side of the river from all of the museums. If you are in the heart of Florence, it is a short taxi ride. If your hotel is close to the river, it is walkable. If you take a taxi, it cannot drop you off in the front of the restaurant. It will drop you off just around the corner. The restaurant is located in a pedestrian only area. As most Italian restaurants go, they are not in a hurry. If you are in a hurry, you need to clearly tell them that you are. You can take a very long time to be served dinner or like I said, if you're in a hurry, let them know and they will do it faster. Tonight, we had two different dishes. We had the good gnocchi salmon with zucchini cream sauce and we had the Mediterranean artesian macaroni with tuna. As an appetizer we had the cheese and honey board. I posted pictures of all three. All of the dishes were very good and freshly made. Extremely good flavors and well put together. We both enjoyed the dishes immensely and would highly recommend both of them. They have a small selection of wines but all of them are very well priced. We had a bottle of Rosso di Montepulcaino for $26. In the States, it would be much more. Their entire list of wines were very well priced. One note that you should be aware of is that Yelp says they are closed on Monday. This is true during the off-season but not during the summer months. If you want to go on a Monday, I would suggest you call first to make sure they are open. We went on a Monday and it was extremely busy and bustling. I highly recommend reservations. Bottom line - very good food with a hard-working staff. We really enjoyed it. Food was delicious. An easy five stars. The staff is extremely friendly and personable. Bon appétit. read more

Awesome place and the staff was great! The whole neighborhood was watching the soccer game or hearing it on radio. It was exciting to hear all the customers and staff rooting for the game. The manager/ owner gave my wife and I a small glass of wine each while we waited for the huge awesome burger, yes burger! I was craving a burger and wanted to see how it was made in Italy. Let me tell you all, it was great and very delicious. My wife and I had a hard time sharing one burger, it was huge.my wife and I went back the next day to give them more business but unfortunately it was closed. First night in Florence and so glad we came here to kick off our Italian vacation! The food was SO delish and the outdoor seating on the piazza was lively and inviting. The owner was SUPER welcoming and took the time on a busy weekend night to speak with me individually about a food allergy so I could feel comfortable ordering. We shared the eggplant crostini with caramelized onions (TO DIE FOR good!!) and the farmers pasta without anchovies. Almost wish I hadn't ordered the fresh buffalo mozzarella with shaved fennel and oranges because I was full but then it arrived looking so amazing and tasted even better!! To top it all off, we received complimentary limoncello with the very reasonable bill. This place is on my "must return " list and definitely should be on yours as well!! read more

Wow! We stayed just steps away from this beautiful square- the heart of the community. This restaurant was exceptional! The friendly staff , the outdoor ambiance and the FOOD! We were fortunate to have been there while an outdoor concert was happening on the steps to the Santo Sprito church . Pinch me ! My friends and I went for an early dinner here and it was wonderful. We ordered lasagna, spaghetti and rossinis which were all delicious. For me, the lasagna was one of the best meals I've had on our trip to Florence. Our drinks arrived to the table a little later than our meal but we were too busy people watching and enjoying the outside seating inside the picturesque Santo Spirito square to mind. The best and most memorable part of our experience was when we went to pay for our meal at the end of the night and were given free limonchello shots! Overall a wonderful evening and very worth a stop if you're in Santo Spirito. read more

This is one of several "Gusta" eateries/bar on and around Santo Spirito, and this one is right on S.S., in my opinion the best location on the square. Owners Pasquale and his wife Claudia are fabulously friendly (he's a character!), and the food is top-top-top. I went crazy for the Schiacciata Calabrese, which is not so surprising since the family hails from Calabria! A must go for your next panino jones, but be aware the pasta and other offerings are excellent too. read more

On top of the pain of securing a reservation (they only take these over the phone; no online system), the only slot I could secure even as a solo diner was as soon as they opened, at 6pm, and via a bar seat. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by several of the staff, all warm/kind. One of them offered me a table, even though I humbly mentioned I'd be fine with whatever was convenient to them. I looked around and saw what seemed to be majority American tourists so I had very standard expectations. Well, what commenced...my god. I'm getting chills now thinking about the entire experience. Just the absolute perfect dinner my first night in Florence. Everything on the menu looked fantastic and I was even tempted to order 2 Primi (pastas) but my server discouraged it, said they were quite large. Instead she guided towards the "must" appetizer, the "onion flan with pecorino cheese and truffle" followed by their signature pasta, "pappardelle with wild boar ragù" The appetizer literally brought me to tears as soon as I took a bite. I didn't think I liked truffle but this was life-changing. And the pasta was served piping hot and also to die for. I complemented the meal with a delicious glass of white and red and ended with the utterly divine tiramisu. I will be dreaming about this meal for years to come. So epic.
