We appreciate the special Ketchikan specific additions of Filipino food and chicken wings, making the menu choices significantly larger than I would assume it is at other franchise locations in Washington or beyond. Considering there isn't many other fast food options in town, it isn't bad! A little on the spendier side but it is Rural Alaska to be fair. My family enjoys when we treat ourselves to a meal here and it's usually busy during weekday lunch. We wish hours were a little later, but we understand the mall closes early so it's partially out of their control.

On a recent Alaskan cruise, this was our lunch spot during the Ketchikan port day. As it's located…read morein a very busy shopping district and next to the Lumberjack show, this is a popular spot. On a drizzly July day with several cruise ships docked, we waited over 30 minutes during the prime lunch hour to order our food, with the line far outside the door and onto the sidewalk. But the line moves fast and we found seats in the 2nd dining room (there's also outdoor seating weather permitting). The food came quickly, a little over 10 minutes after we ordered. My wife chose the Alaskan Sampler Fish & Chips, with one of each of the 3 fried fish options: Pacific Cod, local Silver Salmon and local Halibut. It also came with a generous portion of fries as well as a side of coleslaw. Of all the fish, the halibut was her favorite. She surprisingly enjoyed the coleslaw, as it was dressed with a house-made vinaigrette and wasn't sweet (like many other places use mayo and relish). There was malt vinegar and ketchup on the tables. My salad had a huge salmon filet covering it, with vinaigrette on the side. It was very filling, and I felt better about myself for choosing a healthier option at port after days of overeating on this cruise. We did order sodas with our meal. There is a self-serve soda fountain with free refills. There is also a small bar inside the dining room where you can order draft beer as well as wine and cocktails.

Chico's is a quaint little spot not far from the main strip. It definitely had Mexican vibes the moment you walk in; typical Mexican decor, beer taps and a tropical plant. We had a group of 8; sat fairly quickly for being a packed house. Menu was decent in choices; prices were super high in my opinion for what you got especially with being so close to the water. But I get it tourists... charge more. The crab was delicious and prepared well. But the other items we got were just meh. The clam chowder wasn't anything special and the fish tacos were strange in flavor combos. They didn't mesh; but the fish was cooked nicely. Our waitress was an adorable Asian girl that was really kind and on her A game handling all the tables. Our table was by a kiosk where the waiters come to put in orders and there was a Caucasian guy that worked there that was griping to his coworkers about cruise customers. Basically said I hate when the ships come in and we get all these customers. He just wasn't kind nor seemed like he wanted to be there. So being able to hear that was just off putting.

He gave great service and great recommendations for the amount of crab legs. We would need for the size of our party. It is pricey, but it's about the same anywhere you go. The food was tasty. The sides were delicious, that you gave us plenty of napkins and butter to go around. I would strongly recommend this place for crab legs. I don't think I would try the salmon or any of the other stuff on their menu, because that is not what they specialize in and you may be disappointed. Next time I am in this town I will definitely come back.

I opted for the Elk burger, fully anticipating the characteristic lean profile and firmer texture inherent to game meat. However, the lack of fundamental seasoning left the protein tasting quite flat; a simple baseline of salt, pepper, and garlic would have easily elevated the dish. Ultimately, the experience landed in the "average, but not exceptional" category. While the execution missed the mark this time, the foundation is solid, and 108 Tap House clearly possesses the potential to be a standout spot with a few technical adjustments in the kitchen.
