Easily the best Food of our Alaskan Cruise! After wasting time and money at one of the crab restaurants on the island we were still hungry as we waited for our shuttle. We saw this taco spot and figured we'd give it a shot. We ordered the blackened shrimp tacos and garlic butter scallop tacos, served with chips and mango salsa, and both were incredible. We're from Southern California and have had our fair share of seafood tacos -- these were some of the best! The chowder had great flavor and the mocha iced coffee hit the spot too. Great sized beer too. We were rushing to make our shuttle, and they got everything out quickly enough for us to enjoy our meal and still make it on time. Nestled right outside one of the cruise piers is Timber and Tide. We stopped here based on the recommendation from a tour guide. When we arrived, the place wasn't crowded. The menu had a few overwhelming choices. I landed on a fish sandwich, a fish taco, and seafood chowder - I could not finish everything. All of the food was really good, but the halibut sandwich stood out. The fish was tasty and had just the right amount of batter. The staff were very friendly and the food did not take long. The staff taking our order was extremely helpful with answering questions and getting us situated with our order. The ambiance was really loud but thats a given with the world cup and cruise ships. We ordered the Captains feast which comes with chowder, fish and chips, king crab legs, and Dungeness crab claws for ~$380 pre tax & tip. The crabs were really good and tasted extremely fresh. The fish was good fresh but got a bit chewy when they got cold but overall it was a pretty good meal. My favorites were the tacos but the fish and chips were great as well. We loved the fries. They were cooked perfectly and were crispy and delicious! The tacos had such amazing flavor. The salsas they had with it were great as well. We all commented on what an amazing first meal this was, and we just may come back in the next few days. Right on the dock in Ketchikan - Timber & Tide is cooking up some tasty seafood dishes. We had their fried cod and their chicken taco and both were a flavorful bite of food. Our server was friendly and made you feel like you were royalty. The restaurant made you feel like you had transported back to a pirate's ship on the ocean yet it was clean, cosy and inviting. Wow!! This place was beyond expectation. I got the bread halibut taco without onions. 5 stars. The black bean taco was recommended- I normally don't do beans nor vegetarian- it was delicious. Again without onions. 5 stars I got a cider and I don't know the label but it's was smooth. My friend got the queso with chips and if it's possible to give that 10 stars.. I would. We will return especially for the queso. They were very patient and helpful in picking our items and embracing first time visitors. A local review. We heard of this place and decided to finally try it out last night. As soon as we entered the place, we hesitated because of the high prices, but we thought the food might justify the high prices. I ordered 2 tacos, the surf and turf combo for $23. Another family member ordered the s'more dessert ($20!) along with some other items. You place your order right at the entrance and then find a seat in a booth or one of the outside areas. The wait for food wasn't very long. The server brought our food, and we started eating. It was about five minutes later, and we were eating and visiting when the server came by and asked if we were ready for dessert! Now I know they're used to getting the tourists in and out of there as fast as possible, but this was in the evening after the tourists were mainly gone. We said we weren't ready yet, as we were still eating our dinner. She came back about five minutes later and asked us if we were ready for dessert again. We said no and continued to eat. A few minutes later, the lady at the register asked if we were ready for dessert. Give the customers some time to finish their food! We finished our dinners, and the server stopped by again, and we said we were ready for dessert. My husband ordered a halibut taco and said there was very little, if any, halibut in it. The s'mores were nothing special: a handful of marshmallows with graham crackers and a few Hershey bars, not worth the $20. One of our family members ordered the lemon cake. She said it was a store-bought cake with a lemon sauce drizzled over it, but nothing great. The booths are very cramped. We felt cheated by the prices and what we received. Good dining experience! Despite being located in a touristy area near cruise ports, the food was surprising good, and the service was speedy and attentive. I had the halibut fish and chips which was very good. The chips/fries in particular were as close to perfect as I've ever had. The halibut was fresh, crispy, and meaty. The upcharge for the mango salsa wasn't really worth it considering it is just a small solo cup of it, but other than that, both options were tasty.
