IMO downtown Ketchikan really has so few good sit-down restaurants. We found Ocean View by accident and really enjoyed our experience here. We are from San Diego, so we consider ourselves Mexican food snobs, we found the Mexican food here to be very very good. We ordered the Flautas and enchilada plates and both were quite tasty. Been eating here for 25 years. Last few visits have been grim. And now $60 for one margarita and a protein-less salad served swimming in a pool of water that I couldn't even eat. Stick to pizza and Mexican dishes and you might have a (wildly overpriced) decent meal. Friendly staff. read more

We've been to Ocean View several times so I feel like my review is inclusive- Been for lunch for pizza- not super filling if you share one so appetizers are needed! Pizza dough was excellent - light and fluffy! Been to dinner for their pasta - Husband got the shrimp Alfredo and said it was not worth the price for the portion size he received. Been to dinner for their Mexican- this where they shine! I get their beef enchiladas every time and they NEVER disappoint! And this is coming from someone who rolled enchiladas with her grandmother for years! Husband is a big fan of their el pastor burrito- fresh and great size. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is always fun (they do a great show for birthdays) and they are always busy! Call for a reservation for sure! Chose to get takeout because the environment in the restaurant is claustrophobic and not well organized, still disappointed though, because they allow our food to die in the takeout boxes before it gets to us. mushy taco shells are awful. would not recommend going here, go to Chicos instead downtown. Surprisingly, Ketchikan doesn't really have a lot of great places to eat, however, Luis, the tireless, enthusiastic owner of Ocean View does an amazing job with this place. They have an extensive menu, ranging from Greek to Italian and Mexican, which, quite frankly, is never a good sign. However, I've found the Mexican food to be fantastic here. The fajitas have fresh veggies and ample slices of avocado, the molcajetes sizzling hot and then my favorite, the plump, crisp lightly grilled shrimp street tacos. We've been coming to Ketchikan now for over a decade and we always stop here for at least one dinner, and often more. Yay, Ocean View!!! read more

Great food for the price in this area and the staff were exceptional, setting us up with a delicious dessert in addition to the great meal when they learned there was a birthday at the table. Ocean View was the first restaurant we went to on a recent trip to KTN, at the recommendation of a friend who spent a great deal of time their. We were able to seat ourselves and sat by the window above the water with a wonderful view of the water and wildlife! We showed up in between lunch & dinner with mere minutes to spare to order from the lunch menu and they didn't hesitate to allow us to order from it. Interesting concept... Mexican and Italian food, so I think there is something for everyone, especially if a group in indecisive. Chip & salsa to start and our meal came out quickly, piping hot and everything was good! Since we were dining between busy hours, we weren't there for very long. Service was pleasant, a little chitchat here and there with our server and we were on our way. read more

We were in town for several days eating seafood and wanted a change. Found this place with good reviews and a mix of food so we decided to give it a try. Talk about an interesting place. The decor is a mix of Mexican decor, being in the club watching music videos and delish food. Such a fun place to eat. We love Tex-mex since we are from Texas and I was wondering how this would turn out. Honestly, it was delish! The tacos were really good. The appetizers were good too! You can't tell from the outside but this restaurant is very beautiful inside. What a great atmosphere to eat dinner in. We had a fettuccine and a spaghetti and meatballs and it was delicious. One of our cruise stops. We had an early morning stop and needed to be back on ship by 12:30. Not many places were open and we were craving Mexican food. We were in a rush to be back on board so they expedited us. The Queso Fundido was one of the best I've ever had. I recommend the Mango Mojido! So first impression... 'What do you want to be when you grow up?' This place has a multiple personality problem, can't decide what food to serve. Honestly this big a menu is not a good sign... what is the chef really good at? Tacos, Pizza, Italian, or just mixed drinks. Also noticed at least 7 small lcd TV around the dining area showing clips of beaches and sunsets... so 'ambiance', I guess. Chips were good, but sauce seemed too Italian, perhaps it was meant for someone's linguini and meatballs. I may have tasted cilantro once, but I think it was only by accident. Going to try the Carne asada tacos. Fingers crossed. So asada was pretty good, just a tad tough. Pico was really garlicky, but that sauce was spot on. Loved it! I would order them again. Unfortunately, the sauce couldn't pull them above a solid 3 rating overall. read more

I love how professional you guys are for a small alaskan city, and the food is better then ever.

I will say this. The food really is good. And not just Alaska good, like good in general. The major downside is that it is also INCREDIBLY expensive for what it is. I almost always get a beer with dinner and $8.00 for a beer that isn't being served in a airport is waaaaay too far. They priced themselves out. Still, if money is no object and you happen to be in Ketchikan it's not a bad way to go. Update: just when things have gotten as bad as it could get the roll out the $16.95 margarita Re-update 9/13/19: Oh Ocean View... As much as I despise you I recognize that in a restaurant desert I need you. It really isn't bad as long as you are okay with someone taking their greasy hand and (figuratively) placing it in your pants, removing your wallet, and taking as much cash as they desire. The bro lives up in Ketchikan, Alaska and I've been there several times over the past 10 years. Without fail, ever since the first visit, the fam bam has to hit up a few spots in this tiny little town: 1) Ocean View, 2) The Pioneer Panty & 3) Burger Queen! I'll talk about 2 & 3 in another review... Ok, so the menu at Ocean View is extensive. I remember first going there back in 2004 and the menu was a smaller, more mexican style cuisine (obviously with white people influence - I can say that...I know TRUE mexican food growing up near the border!) with some American dishes like burgers, chicken, etc. Anyway, i digress. The menu has grown to add Italian, Greek, etc. probably to be more well rounded for the plethora of tourists. And I'm sure I've ordered a few dishes the first couple visits but once my bro recommended the fajitas I was HOOKED! I'm usually not a beef fan, so I tried the chicken the first time and had a taste of my bro's beef fajitas. From then on, it was the BEEF FAJITAS ALL THE WAY! The fajitas are super plentiful. You can have left overs for a couple days...you can even share with someone and still have left overs! A little pricey no doubt. I think $18.95 plus tax but who cares when you are in Alaska and eating the best fajitas ever? Not to mention everything is expensive anyway! This past trip I had my bday dinner there...and since my bro was getting married we had the whole family and his (now) wife's whole family so it was a wild, loud experience with ~30 of us and the waiters took great care of us. They even split up the bill in a million different ways at the end with no complaints or mean faces. Great food, great service, great company...couldn't ask for more. The menu is massive. It takes way too long to go through it and it's a bit ADHD to say the least. Pair it down to basics and focus on what you do right. The street tacos are good, really good. But I was FLOORED when I got my bill. I saw they were $18 for 5 street tacos. A bit over priced, but not too bad really. But I wasn't thinking and got the dinner which comes with beans and rice. $25!?!?!?!?!? WTF!!!!!!! Seriously?!?!? He's charging seven dollars for .50 cents of ingredients? This is completely BS. I'm sorry, I should have paid better attention but when you order two dinners and one isn't even fully eaten, it quickly becomes a pricey dinner. The food is okay. It's a nicer Mexican restaurant but I wouldn't say it's much above Chi Chi's was back in the 80s. At least they gave you chips all night long. You're lucky if you get one basket of slightly stain chips. For $25 I should be getting a cabana boy making me home made guacamole next to my table!!! read more
