Hungry and looking for a hearty mid morning meal, happened upon this place. Menu was interesting but breakfast options were limited if you're not a fan of eggs. They were busy and service was slow. An okay place at best.

We really enjoyed this cute little spot. The food was very good. The service was exceptional. Cute little locally owned café type place.. Got some coffee to take home for our son and he said it is great. Does not seem as touristy as some of the other spots. Definitely would recommend.

    Friendly atmosphere!

Really liked this place. Everything else felt so touristy and over priced. This seem normal, warm, and friendly. Small bar and restaurant. We had fish and chips and chowder with some really tasty tap beers. Would highly recommend!!

New york cafe is such a gem. The food is delicious and portion sizes are generous. The wait staff are friendly and professional. More over, i absolutely loved the vibe of the cafe. All patrons were enjoying their food and chatting away. The cafe's history is incredible- started in 1911 by a japanese family, this establishment truly has withstood the test of time. Highly recommend for a visit if you are in ketchikan!

Small local place that had nice portions and good service. The server was pleasant and friendly. My first trip to experience an Alaskan family owned restaurant.

    Halibut fish and chips.

Very chill vibes, lovely efficient staff and great food. While still touristy, this is far enough away from the main drag that you've weeded out some cruisers. Halibut fish and chips was fried to perfection - light and crisp. Fries were great too. Hummus plate was lovely and garlicky. Great selection of Alaskan beers plus ice tea and lemonade were lovely.

As it's located…read morein a very busy shopping district and next to the Lumberjack show, this is a popular spot. On a drizzly July day with several cruise ships docked, we waited over 30 minutes during the prime lunch hour to order our food, with the line far outside the door and onto the sidewalk. But the line moves fast and we found seats in the 2nd dining room (there's also outdoor seating weather permitting). The food came quickly, a little over 10 minutes after we ordered. My wife chose the Alaskan Sampler Fish & Chips, with one of each of the 3 fried fish options: Pacific Cod, local Silver Salmon and local Halibut. It also came with a generous portion of fries as well as a side of coleslaw. Of all the fish, the halibut was her favorite. She surprisingly enjoyed the coleslaw, as it was dressed with a house-made vinaigrette and wasn't sweet (like many other places use mayo and relish). There was malt vinegar and ketchup on the tables. My salad had a huge salmon filet covering it, with vinaigrette on the side. It was very filling, and I felt better about myself for choosing a healthier option at port after days of overeating on this cruise. We did order sodas with our meal. There is a self-serve soda fountain with free refills. There is also a small bar inside the dining room where you can order draft beer as well as wine and cocktails.

This is not bad but I don't think their fried fish is as good as their grilled/blackened fish…read morebecause of the oil. The place is located close to the pier so very convenient if you are coming from the cruise lines. The place is popular but they do have enough seating that although you may need to wait a bit you can eventually find seating. It's rustic and a fitting place for the kind of food they serve. The crab is ridiculously overpriced. The fish and chips is also expensive but at least you get to pick the fish between salmon, cod or halibut. The breading is slightly thick for my liking but my main problem has to do with the oil. I usually prefer fresher oil. The food is ok. I think the blackened salmon is probably the best bet for most of the items they offer such as the rice bowls or the tacos. You order first and then you get seating. They clean up quickly so if you wait for a table you don't have to wait long. Overall it's a food tourist spot that has overly expensive food but not bad enough to avoid. They have a patio and the interior is rustic fish house style.
