We were here on a Cunard Cruise stop, and our van tour guide told us about Burger Queen. It's a tiny hole in the wall place with no real seating, but you can order at the window and they will deliver it to you across the street at The Arctic Char, the friendliest, oldest bar in the town. The location is near the tunnel and loud. The smoke from the grills also blows out onto the seating area. It did take about a half an hour to get our food. I was quite disappointed in The halibut I realize it is a burger place but the fish was so large and perfect looking, it was so sad to see it so overcooked. It was corn (not beer or tempura) style battered. I ate only half a piece. There were flies literally Everywhere and very few places to sit. The ..owner? Somewhat of a worn down spot just outside of downtown Ketchikan is this unpretentious little burger joint. There is an outdoor dining area with several picnic tables but no indoor dining. You order your food in a tiny window and then wait for your order to come out. The wait is totally worth it. This is one of the best burgers I've had in a long time...maybe ever. I ordered the Seattle Burger which is a cheeseburger with bacon plus sauted onions and mushrooms. It was phenomenal. A large patty of flavorful beef, cheese slices, bacon and covered with the onions and mushrooms. If you're in Ketchikan for the day on a cruise ship, it's worth the taxi ride a few miles up town to get yourself a real treat. My tip is to phone in your order. It will take about 20-25 minutes for your order to come out. Exactly the amount of time it takes to get your ride and motor up to this place. Burger Queen will not disappoint. read more

They make some pretty good burgers. It took about 15 minutes to get my burger and fries, and the line was pretty long to order. The bars in the area do not serve food, so they send everyone here. You can take your food and bring it to the bar to eat. There is not enough seating for people to eat outside. Just a few picnic tables. The "burger b$$$" (says it on his shirt) was fun to watch. He told me he was tired of looking at me and said he will get my order ASAP. He knew everyone was waiting awhile. His comments were not something you would hear from any restaurant but that's what made the restaurant stand different. Memorable to say the least. I would consider going back. I stayed in Ketchikan for a week and enjoyed all types of food and adventures. Burger Queen was hands down the best meal I had while there. Yes I had king crab, Dungeness crab, and halibut. I don't even know how to describe the burger, it has a very unique flavor and it's amazing. Every local I talked to said I had to try it, they were spot on. When you order, you go to the bar next door and grab a drink. They will bring you your burger at the bar. The bar was cool too. Since we were making a few stops, we just shared a milk shake and a burger. The milkshake was probably one of the best milkshakes I've ever had. We went with a Coffee Toffee combination, which the girl at the counter then informed us was her favorite. It was SO good. Thick, incredibly flavorful. It came out before the burger and was almost gone by then, it was so good. (Thisnis why there is no picture of it. Oops.) We ordered the basic cheeseburger, which was definitely good. Not the BEST burger I've ever had, but if I lived here I would totally be a regular. The combination of toppings were really great and a little less typical with their homemade thousand island dressing. As I'm posting the picture I also remembered what a great but this burger had. It was so soft and tasted really fresh! Normally the bun is more of a vehicle for burger delivery as far as I'm concerned, but this one really added something to the burger. A lot of other things on the menu looked really great as well! It's a small operation with a few tables inside and two picnic tables outside, but you can also order delivery to the Asylum bar right next door, which has incredibly cheap local beer on draft. This place was recommended by our Oceana Cruise Director so we thought we would give a try. Ordered their cheeseburger and fries and we're not disappointed. Burgers were tasty, fresh, made to order and delicious. Don't let the outside fool you because although there isn't much seating but it's well worth it. This place is a Ketchikan staple. I work on a ship that ports here every week, and I wouldn't dare miss getting my weekly burger fix. Reasonably priced and always tasty. Pairs perfectly with their bomb milkshakes that come in about 100 different flavors. The best part is THEY BRING YOUR FOOD OVER TO THE BAR NEXT DOOR OR ACROSS THE STREET. Nothing better than calling an order in, downing a couple of shots and then having a burger and shake hand delivered to you. Its almost like magic when that burger shows up and you are so drunk you forgot you ordered one in the first place. Expensive for what it is. This is a good stand only with no place inside to sit. A couple picnic tables outside but given Ketchikan's climate don't count on them. You can take your food to the bar across the street with no issue. The halibut sandwich and halibut fish and chips were good but a little pricey. What in Alaska is not pricey? OH WOW! The entertainment director on our cruise said DO NOT miss Burger Queen!! We obeyed and are super glad we did! I jumped in our way back to the ship​ and got a couple of burgers to go. Got back on the ship, through security went up to a bar and sat down to eat. Our burgers were still warm, hot even. Wrapped in foil. Very nice!! OMG, they were LEGIT! We were on our Alaska cruise today and saw the reviews on Yelp....thanks all you Yelpers...great reviews were spot on. We ordered up the Halibut burger, fish and chips and bacon cheese burger....all were absolutely great. The one thing they are definitely a five out of five on is the shakes....there were around 20 or so different flavors and I opted for the caramel....the best shake I have ever had in my life.....could not believe the awesome salted caramel flavor that came out of that cup....MMMMMMMMMmmmm!!!!! If you are on a cruise stop and get to this place before you leave. They open at 11 and crew from all the ships get here so try to call in an order first and save yourself some time, but you can put in an order and go across the street to the shops then back. read more
