The locals at the retail store told us about this place a little bit farther from the cruise ship dock. An easy walk for delicious food!! Staff was friendly and we got there when it opened so it was so fresh. Fried shrimp and chowder was incredible.

    Side of onion rings

(Review written by my 13 year old) What's the tea big backs? I've got a big pot brewing.. It's Alavas Fish-n-Chowder! Delish and somewhat nutrish, this place has already caught my eye as a potential stamp of slay winner. But anyways! The service was fast, the food ATE, no crumbs, and it wasn't too pricey! When I first walked up, it was honestly giving food truck vibes and vibe was low key vibing!! I would personally recommend the fried halibut, and onion rings , they were sigma. Soooooo... yur. I can officially present the prestigious, perfect, profound stamp of slayyyyyyy!!!! ATE. THAT. UPPPPPPP. (No crumbs, %0 crumbs frfr). Gorl bye.

Tried the Cod fish and chips and a cup of chowder. Guy running the shop said that chowder was his mother's recipe. We liked it all a lot. Complaints to his momma.

    Cod sandwich

Scrum-didly-yum is how I would describe this restaurant. 11/10 fried fish and 11/10 friendly service. This place is no fluke and worth taking the free shuttle ride from the dock. The only thing I would be aware of is that there is only outside seating. When we went it was lightly raining but we ate in the mall across the parking lot. I got the sandwich but others in my group got the halibut or cod fish and chips but we all agreed it was delish!!

The menu is limited right now because the owner has been in the hospital, but the food they serve is worth a visit!

On a drizzly July day with several cruise ships docked, we waited over 30 minutes during the prime lunch hour to order our food, with the line far outside the door and onto the sidewalk. But the line moves fast and we found seats in the 2nd dining room (there's also outdoor seating weather permitting). The food came quickly, a little over 10 minutes after we ordered. My wife chose the Alaskan Sampler Fish & Chips, with one of each of the 3 fried fish options: Pacific Cod, local Silver Salmon and local Halibut. It also came with a generous portion of fries as well as a side of coleslaw. Of all the fish, the halibut was her favorite. She surprisingly enjoyed the coleslaw, as it was dressed with a house-made vinaigrette and wasn't sweet (like many other places use mayo and relish). There was malt vinegar and ketchup on the tables. My salad had a huge salmon filet covering it, with vinaigrette on the side. It was very filling, and I felt better about myself for choosing a healthier option at port after days of overeating on this cruise. We did order sodas with our meal. There is a self-serve soda fountain with free refills. There is also a small bar inside the dining room where you can order draft beer as well as wine and cocktails.

The place is located close to the pier so very convenient if you are coming from the cruise lines. The place is popular but they do have enough seating that although you may need to wait a bit you can eventually find seating. It's rustic and a fitting place for the kind of food they serve. The crab is ridiculously overpriced. The fish and chips is also expensive but at least you get to pick the fish between salmon, cod or halibut. The breading is slightly thick for my liking but my main problem has to do with the oil. I usually prefer fresher oil. The food is ok. I think the blackened salmon is probably the best bet for most of the items they offer such as the rice bowls or the tacos. You order first and then you get seating. They clean up quickly so if you wait for a table you don't have to wait long. Overall it's a food tourist spot that has overly expensive food but not bad enough to avoid. They have a patio and the interior is rustic fish house style.

Easily the best Food of our Alaskan Cruise!…read more After wasting time and money at one of the crab restaurants on the island we were still hungry as we waited for our shuttle. We saw this taco spot and figured we'd give it a shot. We ordered the blackened shrimp tacos and garlic butter scallop tacos, served with chips and mango salsa, and both were incredible. We're from Southern California and have had our fair share of seafood tacos -- these were some of the best! The chowder had great flavor and the mocha iced coffee hit the spot too. Great sized beer too. We were rushing to make our shuttle, and they got everything out quickly enough for us to enjoy our meal and still make it on time. Skip the long crab lines and tourist prices and head to Berth 4 instead. Great food, fair prices, indoor and outdoor seating. Foodie approved and highly recommend!

The menu had a few overwhelming choices. I landed on a fish sandwich, a fish taco, and seafood chowder - I could not finish everything. All of the food was really good, but the halibut sandwich stood out. The fish was tasty and had just the right amount of batter. The staff were very friendly and the food did not take long. The only thing I will call out is the place is pretty pricey -- but I'm not surprised since it is a touristy area. Overall - I liked the place.

He gave great service and great recommendations for the amount of crab legs. We would need for the size of our party. It is pricey, but it's about the same anywhere you go. The food was tasty. We had a group of 8; sat fairly quickly for being a packed house. Menu was decent in choices; prices were super high in my opinion for what you got especially with being so close to the water. But I get it tourists... charge more. The crab was delicious and prepared well. But the other items we got were just meh. The clam chowder wasn't anything special and the fish tacos were strange in flavor combos. They didn't mesh; but the fish was cooked nicely. Our waitress was an adorable Asian girl that was really kind and on her A game handling all the tables. Our table was by a kiosk where the waiters come to put in orders and there was a Caucasian guy that worked there that was griping to his coworkers about cruise customers. Basically said I hate when the ships come in and we get all these customers. He just wasn't kind nor seemed like he wanted to be there. So being able to hear that was just off putting.
