Being out of state, we used Yelp and read good things. Pricing wise, they were not the cheapest, but there is a reason. FireTec was super communicative on what we are to expect, and super responsive to questions. They called to confirm the day of appointment, and showed up on time, masks on, shoe covers, and armful of floor pads and coverings (more on this later. The tech came and was friendly, respectful of the COVID situation, and careful with our home. Every fireplace they worked on was meticulously prepared and protected to ensure no damage or dirt would get on our floor. During the visit, they even updated me on findings as they went along and also how they were going to charge me less than estimated as certain chimneys did not require the level of inspection requested or originally thought to be needed. At the end, 3 of our gas inserts needed new control modules as the batteries leaked and damaged the units. They showed me the issue and again were transparent on what was needed. Now, I could leave the review as is, but this is what going above call of service means. The tech, bothered with a small finding in the video inspection, called me back after he left asking if he could come back and recheck one of our chimney. I am glad he did, as he discovered that one of our fireplaces was blocked off by previous owner, and it was not safe to be used. Being a father with 2 kids in the house, this is the kind of service expected. FireTec ordered the new gas inserts control modules and called me much earlier than the scheduled appointment asking if I was available to get the gas inserts fixed with the new control modules. Apparently their tech was freed up and available. Fast forward, our fireplaces are clean, inspected for safety, and gas inserts working as expected. And as if that wasn't enough, they send a thank you card. This is how you are customer centric. It's hard, but not impossible!

After 20+ years in the area, it was a pleasure for me to hire a contractor who will work with the customer, is efficient in the entire process from contract to completion and does a GREAT JOB! And a bonus, his entire work crew is hardworking craftsmen at their work and courteous to anyone they meet. My project had two components, the replacement of an existing concrete sidewalk and steps to the front door and the installation of a drainage system to reduce groundwater runoff due to the steep hills near our home in Murrysville, PA. Jimmy, the estimator was prompt and considered the challenges of my specific project at the outset to quote a price, and then Chip called me back right away over the weekend to walk-through the project scope and his plan on construction. Equipment and materials arrived the day before, and when Chip says he will be there as the sun is rising, take him at his word! His team worked efficiently to remove the existing sidewalk preparing the forms for the new concrete and digging the drainage trenches, removing all debris from the site the same day. Then the real excitement of the project began on day 2, when the concrete arrived (they only use high quality product), and when the moved and poured half a mixer truck of concrete, it was a really amazing, choreographed event that should be put to music. No heavy concrete truck came on the property as they moved almost 6 cubic yards of concrete from the road so as not to damage the existing driveway. Finally, after pouring the concrete, they finished the contoured sidewalk beautifully to produce an elegant look to the front of the house. Again, on the French drainage part of the project, they put surface drains and top-quality pipe covered and wrapped with pervious material and stone and backfilled with soil, fertilized grass seed and topping to ensure robust growth of the new lawn, all leading to a deep course stone pit to allow the water to run off slowly and be absorbed into the landscape. Chip even took note of a gutter lead problem and fixed a problem created by a previous deck contractor I had hired earlier this year. He said no charge, and not only was the total project beautiful, but it was also reasonably priced. I would hire A.E. Nicholas to do any project at my home again!

One of his guys cemented the hole back up after they removed a large brick that was blocking the whole. Aaron advised getting a carbon monoxide detector which we will soon. They installed all of the flooring in our Heartland home…read more The wood flooring they had on display was NOT representative of what was installed, and they knew this but blamed the manufacturer. I had many many repair trips to fix sloppy tile work, amongst other things. Within one year of installation of the carpet, it got ridiculously loose and buckled in multiple rooms. It has separated in different areas where you can see a gap in the pad. I'm well past the warranty at this point, but it was noted on my punch list (6 years ago) and they told me I could have it repaired in the future. Well, it's the future (present actually, ha), and they have ignored my repair requests, even though everything was properly documented. Lastly, I was going to pay them for some other repairs, like tile that my kids broke, and they ignored that too. So now, it's going to cost me a few hundred dollars to fix the AWFUL install job that they never did correctly, and they've earned this review

The staff is extremely knowledgeable and courteous. Christy provided us with many options to choose from and great advice during our selection process. Judy did a great job in scheduling our job around other contractors. Ronaldo and his team did an excellent job with installation. We get many compliments on how great the floor looks and how well it was installed. Some people think its wood or LVT.
