I needed a new firepit, a concrete slab for my concrete table and benches and a walkway from my detached garage to my house. I had previously used Morningstar for a front entrance and steps, and they did an absolutely amazing job, so I contacted them again. Kerry came out and talked to me twice about my project. My property is a hill, basically, which added challenges to the job. After demolition of the old firepit, and excavation of the site, I got a retaining wall that is absolutely a work of art, a beautiful patio and a firepit that rivals anything I've ever seen for workmanship and beauty, and a walkway that is unbelievable! The weather did not cooperate for many days, but once they were able to pour concrete, they got right on it. They created a circular patio against a retaining wall of graduated height, measuring 4' in the middle. Then, they added a template design, having to work suspended above the concrete! The results are just beautiful! I wanted a larger than usual firepit, as I have a wooded lot, and burn a lot of twigs and debris from the trees, but wanted something that would be an attractive firepit for get togethers. They absolutely came through for me, I love the firepit that they designed! The walkway that they laid out is curved, and looks like a path in the woods. They finished it beautifully, with a pattern that looks like stone. Their pricing is competitive, and the quality is well worth it. They are reliable, and very focused on doing a spectacular job. They also make sure to leave the jobsite clean and in great shape, straightening out the landscape beautifully. I am over the moon with my new patio, firepit and walkway. I am not typically one to leave bad reviews, but Kerry and Morningstar Construction installed DEFECTIVE CONCRETE and left me high and dry. Take a look at these photos of their work. They blamed their supplier, JJ Kennedy, who they said sold them a bad batch of concrete. Every time it freezes the concrete crumbles, and gets worse! Plus, Kim (Kerry's wife) told me that this has happened on Multiple Jobs - not just mine! It shouldn't be my problem - it's Morningstar's problem. I tried to address this with them before posting any reviews. I repeatedly called and email them to try to get this resolved. They kept ignoring me and I had to keep contacting them again and again. Finally Kerry promised IN A WRITTEN AGREEMENT to come back to my house and replace the crumbling concrete before 2025 was over -- but 2025 came and went and Kerry was full of excuses on why he couldn't do what he originally promised to do. The results speak for themselves! Kerry and his crew exceeded my expectations with a quality product that fixed my problem! Very attentive an responsive!! Kerry Morningstar made time on a Saturday to give us an estimate to fix clogged piping, culvers, and drainage problems caused by a 60-degree temperature swing that caused our driveway to flood into the neighbor's yard and onto the street. Then when the temperature dropped back to single digits, our driveway, street, and neighbor's iced completely over creating a potentially dangerous situation. Kerry gave an estimate and was able to begin work within 2 days. He and his crew did an outstanding job! They excavated and repaired the culverts and made some corrections to some previous sub-standard and faulty work. They made additions that were well planned and will more than prevent any future flooding! They also installed a retaining wall and french drain down the length of my driveway that carries away any excess water and looks outstanding! While they were installing the wall and drain, I requested the addition of a trench drain with a grate across my driveway. Kerry honored my request at a very reasonable price! When it is all said and done, I couldn't be more pleased with the results! They were quick to visit our home to look at our project and provided a reasonable estimate. After going through several other contractors, it was nice to have someone take our project seriously. The work was done in the time frame we were told and they left the site tidy after every work day. They were very responsive to any questions we had and always called us if they ran into an issue or had a question of their own. Jose completed our project in a professional manner from the bidding to the cleanup. We had a complicated shape to complete. Jose listened to our requests and gave us what we wanted. We altered the request after the bidding and Jose said he could do the job. From the time I gave him a call to the completion of project was 8 days. These guys demolished a very large, 8' high wooden deck that had partially collapsed. Kerry came out the same day I called to assess the situation, gave me an estimate the following morning, and they were on the job the next afternoon. The price was absolutely fair, the work was very professionally done, and they were extremely diligent about cleaning up and hauling away 100% of the debris.
