I had previously used Morningstar for a front entrance and steps, and they did an absolutely amazing job, so I contacted them again. Kerry came out and talked to me twice about my project. My property is a hill, basically, which added challenges to the job. After demolition of the old firepit, and excavation of the site, I got a retaining wall that is absolutely a work of art, a beautiful patio and a firepit that rivals anything I've ever seen for workmanship and beauty, and a walkway that is unbelievable! The weather did not cooperate for many days, but once they were able to pour concrete, they got right on it. They created a circular patio against a retaining wall of graduated height, measuring 4' in the middle. Then, they added a template design, having to work suspended above the concrete! The results are just beautiful! I wanted a larger than usual firepit, as I have a wooded lot, and burn a lot of twigs and debris from the trees, but wanted something that would be an attractive firepit for get togethers. They absolutely came through for me, I love the firepit that they designed! The walkway that they laid out is curved, and looks like a path in the woods. They finished it beautifully, with a pattern that looks like stone. Their pricing is competitive, and the quality is well worth it. They are reliable, and very focused on doing a spectacular job. They also make sure to leave the jobsite clean and in great shape, straightening out the landscape beautifully. I am over the moon with my new patio, firepit and walkway. They removed an ~ 54' long x 6' tall railroad tie retaining wall at the top and back of our driveway parking pad and replaced it with a Versa-Lok retaining wall and replaced all of the existing parking pad concrete between the 2 car garage and the retaining wall. They also replaced a short retaining wall with Versa-Lok at the bottom of this wall extending back about 16', and built a new short, 10' long Versa-Lok retaining wall along near the driveway on the front side of the house. MorningStar provided a competitive price estimate and completed the work in a timely manner. They were very responsive, flexible, responsible, professional, hard-working, and respectful, and went the extra mile. They provided examples for prior similar jobs. MorningStar contacted the engineer to make acceptable modifications to the tall retaining wall that allowed for improved strength, ease of completion, while still retaining as much of the parking pad width as possible. They quickly obtained the required permit, which also required a pedestrian railing on the retaining wall edge for which they subcontracted. They took care to limit damage to the surrounding landscape, and reseeded. In addition, they sealed not only the new concrete, but also the rest of our driveway and sidewalk. Our neighbors were very impressed with the results.
