Save yourself the pain - literally. I've given this place so many chances, and I'm officially done. I've gotten terrible cuticle infections here twice, bad enough that I had to go to the doctor for prescription medication. Someone else told me they recently ended up in the ER from an infection from here!! The front desk is always rushing the techs, and it shows - they go too fast, cut my cuticles, and I usually leave bleeding. It used to feel worth it for the price, but now the prices keep going up and they upcharge for everything. Last time they charged me $5 extra for a fill because my nails were "too grown out" (they weren't). The place isn't clean - I've seen them reuse tools without disinfecting between clients. They've also filed my nails way too thin multiple times, to the point I felt burning from the drill. My nails were brittle for months and only got healthy again once I stopped coming here. First review I've ever written. Sitting here waiting 30 minutes and counting for a simple polish change. This has happened multiple times. I come here often only because I live very close by. I didn't schedule an appt days in advance as you don't need to but I called 15 minutes before I arrived asking if they'd be available for polish change in 15 mins. Unless it's absolutely jam packed here, they pretty much almost always say yes. And then no tech is near done and they just have you sit there and wait. I knew this was gonna happen again and I should've just left after waiting 10 minutes but I always feel awkward/rude. I always say it's my last time coming here every single time. Do NOT go to Dew Luxe. Today, I booked a pedicure 2 hours in advance and when I got there I had to wait another 45 minutes for them to even start. But the whole time they kept saying "someone will be right with you" or "5 more minutes" until 45 minutes went by. And only when I finally got up to leave, someone came over. Then they made me leave before my toes were dry to let someone else use the drier. By the time I walked home (5 minute walk) all the nail polish had rubbed off because it was still wet. I went back and asked them to fix it and they went through the whole "5 more minutes thing" AGAIN! So, after waiting ANOTHER 25 minutes for another nail tech that was never coming, I asked for a refund. And then they said they don't give refunds!! So after all that, I left with no nail polish and a waste of 2 hours. Oh and I also lost $50. Management is so rude, they are overseeing this entire operation where they overbook appointments, provide terrible service and then refuse refunds. I had heard so many great things about this salon and was really looking forward to treating myself. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to the hype at all. To start, I booked a pedicure expecting a relaxing atmosphere, but the massage chairs were broken. While that's not the end of the world, it's a key part of the pedicure experience and felt unprofessional--especially since no one mentioned it beforehand. Next, I went in for a Gel-X French manicure. I made it very clear to the woman at the front desk that I wanted French nails and even offered to choose another style if that wasn't something they could do. I was reassured it wouldn't be a problem. When I sat down with my nail tech, I once again explained that I wanted French nails and even showed him a photo. He said "okay" and got started--but once he got to the tips, it became obvious he couldn't actually do them. Rather than letting me know upfront or asking if I wanted something else, he attempted it anyway. I ended up asking him to just remove the tips and leave the base color because I was so unhappy with how they looked. Overall, I was really disappointed. The owner/manager here is SO rude. She has such an attitude and makes you wait like 30 mins even if you have an appointment. She bosses the customers around as if they are not the ones paying for a service. It is no way to run a business. Not to mention, some of the techs are extremely aggressive. I needed a builder gel fill and while she took a lot of care in placing of the gel and i appreciated that. It still ended up sooo thick and my two thumbs look completely different as do all of my other fingers but I'd been sitting there (uncomfortably---worst chairs ever no lumbar support) that i didn't say anything bc I needed to leave. I love this place so much I wish it was closer!!! I have had both the Gel X and basic gel mani and both times the nails lasted longer than any other mani I've ever had!! I have had my nails done here at least a dozen times, but will not be returning. The result is usually good, but the customer service is lacking. My last several visits, I have called and made an appointment and despite arriving at the agreed upon appointment time, have had to wait 30-45 minutes to get my nails done. My most recent appointment, after 40 minutes passed from my appointment time for a regular manicure, I was seated in a pedicure chair. My manicure was done there, with the bowl of water for my nails to soak in placed in my lap and me leaning to one side so she could do both hands. My nails are extremely short and understand that can be a bit difficult, but my nail tech didn't even bother to even them out, which is all I asked for. I understand things happen and business gets busy, but I've never once received an apology and a, "Sorry for the wait, we'll get you in as soon as we can," would go a long way. This review is solely based on my experiences with two services: dip powder manicures and pedicure. There are not many nail salons in the Boston area that offer dip powder. I previously went to a different salon that had subpar quality compared to what I've received at D Luxe Nail Bar and I am so glad I found this place. The color selection here is good, though I wish there were a bit more variations of greens and blues - but that is solely based on personal preference. Ruby does an amazing job at dip powder application. It is not super thick, and not lumpy which I appreciate. She also does not overdo it with the soft drill. Again, I'm appreciative of this. My dip powder manicures have lasted 3-4 weeks since coming to D Luxe Nail Bar, and everyone is astonished at the length of my natural nails. Pedicures have a bunch of different options to choose from, and are good. It is Southie, so parking can be tricky at peak times. Be sure to call and make an appointment as Ruby can be busy. Since Ruby is the only person (I believe) in the salon that does dip powder, your appointment may start a few minutes late but their customer service is good. I keep trying to give this place a chance, but think this is my last go here. First off, every time I go I make an appointment so I don't have to wait and every time I wait. This week I made an appointment for 6:15 and when I showed up there was a wait about 5 people deep. I waited about 20 mins until they sat me down I one of the foot spas. I then waited another 25 mins until one of the girls came to do my pedicure. Why make an appointment when you then have to wait 45 minutes to see someone...seems a little ridiculous to me. Here is the second reason why I'm done with this place. I always get a gel manicure and the gel never makes it past the 3rd day. Meanwhile any other place the gel last at least 2-3 weeks. Not sure why this is, but my gel literally peels off in just days (see attached photo on the third day). They do fix it for free, but who has 45 mins to wait to get your nail repainted when it should have been done right in the first place?! And in my case, I'm now out of the country and have a chipped nail that I can do nothing about for the next week. The reason why I do keep going back is because the ambiance is nice, spa like, unlike the rest of the nail places in Southie. The girls working there are nice and do take their time while doing the pedicures and manicures, however the wait time and the fact they don't last is not worth the money or experience. They should really fix this as there are so many other places to choose from that do a better job for way less money. I've given them way too many chances in my book! read more

To start off I just moved here from California and it's hard finding a new nail salon you can go and trust. With that said I had seen all the great reviews this place had and I saw all the pictures posted; thought to myself "THIS IS THE PERFECT PLACE". Since I always have elaborate designs on my nails. With that said. I had an appointment at 5 and didn't get seated until I want to say about 5:15 (typical for most nails salons. Not an issue) but when I had asked her if she could do the design I showed her on the picture( which I'll attach). She didn't have the powder but to chose two powders that looked similar. So I did. Thinking this was going to be a traditional ombré acrylic. When she was doing my nails she seemed rushed and when buffing my nails had hit my cuticle and skin multiple times, burning and hurting my fingers. Also she had cut my pinky while cutting away at the cuticle. Correction so I don't pose as a liar: I was there for two hours but the work felt rushed since she had backed up clients waiting for her. Then came the worst part. Was when she actually did the ombré she just dusted powder of the nails and gone over it with polish and at first it did look like an ombré effect. So at the end my nails look like candy corn. REALLY NOT HAPPY WITH THE END RESULT. Then when it came time to pay I was charged for the refill, THE REPLACEMENT NAILS for the ones that had lifted really bad which i have never seen at any nail salon, and the use of the two powders. I'm sorry but back home in California I would pay 60 dollars for elaborate nails with gems and crystals and get a much much better job. Why couldn't the nail tech be honest with me and say she really couldn't do it? I would not have been upset or anything if I had to do something different and not what I wanted. That's what the nail tech is for. To help and guid the customer on what is possible to do. I will not be returning to this salon. I'm not discouraging others. I was getting gel on my nails for years before going to D Luxe. I live in Southie so it's super convenient! I went in wanting to try Dip powder. My technician was Vi and she has changed my life!! I go every 4 weeks (sometimes longer) and my hands are constantly in gloves, working with products and in water.
