Chose Frey & Sons based on Yelp reviews. Dave was courteous on the phone and scheduled for the following day. Technician was prompt and polite. Work was performed properly. Work performed: run two new circuits to garage. Had two small issues: 1. Technician initially charged 5 hours of labor even though he arrived at 11 and left at 3:30 including 30 minute lunch and 1 hour Home Depot trip for parts. Quick discussion and it was resolved. 2. Technician did not vacuum wood shavings from the area where he drilled to run wire. All other areas were cleaned up. It was likely he was late for another appointment and simply forgot to go back after loading his tools. Discussed with Dave Frey and he made it right. Overall, I was happy with their service, and even though we had a couple hiccups, those were resolved promptly and courteously. I would hire them again. read more

Looked to Yelp for a local electrician to fix a small Electrical problem in our house. I called Dave and he answered the phone and we talked about my issue. He came out shortly after. I had an issue with my clothes dryer blowing fuses. I called Dave and he came out within 2 hours and fixed the issue (loose wire in fuse box). Dave made sure everything wS working before he left. They no-showed me. I had an appointment. Supposed to be there first thing in the morning. 9am rolls around, no call, no show. So I called and left a message. I got a call back, and was basically told the tech that was supposed to work my job couldn't be reached. "I don't know what happened. He isn't responding to my calls or texts". Nice. Nice associates you work with. I missed work to meet these guys. Never again. Instead Keith Falzon did the work the next day, and he was the Bomb. Hire him instead. read more

Hired them to replace my electrical panel/breaker box and install smoke detectors up to code. Had high ratings on BBB and good friendly suggestions in the quoting process. Quote was cheaper, but less thorough than another. When I mentioned wanting an inspection he waivered, stating that he did not know the inspector in my area, but agreed. Set a younger electrician to do the work. Nice guy, seemed good, complained he wasn't allowed to buy all the proper parts for the job and that made it more difficult. Failed inspection... three times! Young guy was happy to learn and fix his mistakes. The owner was fuming, clearly hadn't kept up with code changes in at least 5 years. Apparently, he's buddies with all the inspectors in his normal areas and gets to do things informally and doesn't get checked back up on. Did the bare minimum to pass. Inspector was very professional and helpful, concerned actually asked me at one point why I hired them, if they were family. A year later, I discover that the source of one of my basement leaks is actually coming from inside my panel! I find the cause/location of the problem myself. Inspector comes back out as a favor when he remembers which job it is. Thankfully we determined there wasn't much corrosion done to my brand new panel to be concerned about. Owner comes back, acting like I'm a pain, because at this point I've already done all the investigation work and it's a simple putty fix. He concludes the same thing about lack of damage we did and ends with, "If you have anymore problems, sue me." Shortly after that, the main power cable to the house breaks two of the three lines and is hanging by a thread. We lose power in 2/3 of our circuits, but maintain 120V in the other 1/3. Reconnecting that main line was the biggest struggle the younger electrician had because he did not have the proper hardware. I did not call this company back. I called DTE, but they didn't believe my power was "out". Three days and even a scared, helpful, but ineffective call to the fire station later, our power line got fixed. I am also informed that none of my 4 exterior boxes have been "tagged" (locked) out and I need to call DTE and have them do that. Electrician should have called them when they finished. So all my main electrical boxes could have just been opened by my kids at any time. Then, our fridge died from running on single phase power for so long. read more

I had them come over to install a 220v dryer outlet, I called Dave and made appointment the following day, the guy did the job very professional and easy to talk to, I had some experience doing electric work myself, so I can tell he knows what's his doing, he brings all the parts and wires he need, no homedepot trip, The price was very fair. He showed up on time for the estimate. Estimate was for an electrical service panel upgrade, add GFCIs to a kitchen, replace a ceiling fan, add one outlet, and inspect/correct some do-it-yourself wiring left by a previous owner. He asked if I wanted the electric panel done to code and inspected with a permit pulled, to which I said yes. He seemed very flustered at that. He tried to talk me out of having his work inspected by saying things like "once they get in your house who knows what they'll find. They'll look all over, not just electrical." I found it very suspicious/unnerving that a "professional" electrician was nervous that an inspector would check his work. Thats part of your job! You should know how to do things right and not be worried about an inspector. I ruled this contractor out quickly. However, a few weeks later they called me to confirm an appointment to do work on a sauna. I didn't request any work with a sauna. I don't even have one! They apparently have some scheduling/administrative issues as well. read more

The moment i called , the answer was ' no problem , we will be right there ''! these guys are very efficient , friendly, and reasonably priced ! After calling several electricians and getting quotes of $300+ to fix a ceiling fan and a light switch, I spoke with Dave Frey. He gave me an over-the-phone quote of $100 for the job. He was prompt, very polite, and figured out the problem and fixed it quickly. I will definitely use him again if I have a need for an electrician. read more
