Tonight was the last time I will ever go back! My last experience was a bad one as well but since I had to go to stop and shop so I figured I'd try it again. The food was horrendous. The calamari was not cleaned so I had to pull the skin off of each piece. Then when I was finally able to eat it was so rubbery I couldnt stop chewing. I wound up throwing the whole thing in the garbage! The pizza was ice cold and the only thing that was good was the soup. I work way too hard to be throwing meals in the garbage. Tender, lightly topped with seasoned bread crumbs over a bed of vegetables, he loved it! The waitress said it's a customer favorite here. I had the special, chicken Sorrentino. A bed of sautéed spinach, 2 large chicken cutlets, tender & topped with a Alfredo cream sauce, garnished with thinly sliced zucchini strips, Gorgonzola and sun dried tomatoes, wow, was it delicious! Portions are large and I always leave with leftovers for the next day. The owner always checking in to make sure all was good. The wait staff is consistently friendly and attentive. Reason for not going back:- WAITRESS just ignored us and had an attitude Messed up my take out order and when i said something it was an issue No napkins No bread basket No refill on water No infant seat No utensils to eat with after my food was delivered, she just walked away to attend to the important! Was served after the people i came before! And i had 3 hungry kids. Excellent menu with fantastic service. There is so much to choose from that you eat here every day. I love the chicken valorosso, and the chicken coafino ( i may have misspelled that!) ... every dish is generously portioned. The pizza and pastas are great. Gluten free is available. Was in the area with my teenage daughter for an appointment and we needed some quick lunch so we figured we would stop in here. Pizza is usually a safe bet on Long Island. There is not much room near the counter when you first walk in, it's difficult to see what special slices they're trying to display. I also felt pretty rushed by the staff when deciding what we wanted to order. We ordered one eggplant parm slice and one ziti slice. The total was over $10, which I didn't mind except that when the slices were handed to us after heating them up, they were barely bigger than a slice from Domino's. Flavorwise, the pizza was okay. But you're overcharging for special slices that are not even half the size of the slices any other pizza place in the area is serving. That alone will keep me from coming back. The slices were just okay. As for service, we were rushed when we walked in, but the staff didn't really pay any attention to us after that. That's okay, they didn't need to. I doubt we will return. I am consistently impressed with two slices. The chicken vodka with sesame seeds created in grandma fashion and the penne vodka slice my wife gets. I do not understand why the chicken vodka slice is only made Thursday-Sunday. It's by far their best slice. The penne slice is getting recognition cause it tastes great the next day as well. I will not rank their regular slice because we all know that LI regular slices are straight mediocre. As my Queens pizza crew say, slices with toppings are not pizza. Watch out. Came for dinner and sat in the back, which is meant to be a sit-down area. Long story short, the service and the food was bad.... I ordered the stuffed shrimp and to my surprise, it tasted like a clove of garlic. That's only expected, considering the amount of garlic that was VISIBLE at the top of plate, take a look for yourself. I also added a Cesar salad to my meal for 3 dollars. Three dollars wasted more like it. That had to be the most heavily drenched salad I've ever come across. I could have added a whole serving of lettuce to this salad and it might still be overdressed. Last but not least I payed 20$ for this disgusting dish. The waitress didn't seat us, bring us menus, or silverware but we let that slide. She tossed our bread onto the table with no regard and we could barley get her attention to tell her we were in need of napkins. This place is amazing. I tried it on a whim while shopping at the center where it's located. Got a grandma slice which was amazing and a penne slice as well, even more amazing. I like the pizza and the meatball heroes here. There is a big screen TV with the ball game on and they are open until 10 -even on Sundays! Staff is friendly and prfessional. Clientele is usually local folks...decent people. Soda is very good. (Some places have an incorrect mix or those horrible freestyle macines.) One last thing. The garlic knots here are AMAZEBALLS. Yes, amazeballs. The Italian Fiesta is my favorite dish- a sampling of baked ravioli, baked stuffed shells, chicken parmigiana & shrimp parmigiana all in one dish. Fantastic. The caesar salad is awesome & never brown or wilted, always cool & fresh. The chicken parmigiana alone is pretty awesome, this is one of the only places I'll order it at. I've heard great things about the veal & the chilean sea bass is perfect, so is the filet of sole oreganata. Haven't had much of the plain pasta dishes, there's so much else on the menu to have, so I can't say anything about it. I did have the baked ziti once, and it was pretty good, not the best. But I'll stick with the other dishes from now on. Never been disappointed or grossed out by anything here. But the garlic knots? AMAZEBALLS. Have I said that before? I don't know if they've changed them recently, because I only just started coming here for dinner a while after they redid the place. But whoever said the garlic knots were bad is nuts! This is my favorite Italian takeout hands down. We have been ordering for way over a decade. The traditional style Italian pizzeria restaurant offers a wide variety of choices. I love the way they deliver their heroes in a cardboard container that keeps the bread crisp and not soggy. Also comes piping hot. A home style sauce, it tastes like it came from someones kitchen. The Italian fiesta can easily feed two to three people and it's under $20, includes 2 jumbo fried shrimp, two to three pieces of chicken cutlet, stuffed shells and ravioli, two of each over sauce and mozzarella cheese. I was driving in Oceanside with my family and we wanted to grab a quick lunch. I'm really not familiar with the area at all so I looked up pizza places on Yelp in Oceanside. Many came up, but I saw that D'cocco's had excellent reviews and based on their page we decided to go in. It was kind of quiet because we went at a strange time. We went in around 3 between lunch and dinner. All employees were extremely friendly and helpful. It seemed that they were preparing for dinner because they had pies and rolls coming out of the oven. I shared a Marinara slice and this other slice with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes on top. They were both amazing!!! Absolutely loved both slices. Definitely recommend the pizza here! I was really excited to try this place after the reviews and pictures. I am writing this review in real time so let me say that I agree with some of the other reviewers that said the staff was inattentive. Pizza places can be like that, and I noticed the dude was super friendly to locals, but I did not feel so welcomed my first time here. Also, the food in the case does not look too fresh, which is a bummer because I drove from East Rockaway to try this place based on the photos of delicious hot fresh pizza in a well maintained display. I ordered a bunch of slices, a salad, and a shrimp parmigiana hero. The hero was solid. The bread was nicely toasted, and stuffed with juicy fried shrimp and cheese topped with a perfect amount of marinara sauce; great acid and salt. The plain slice was good not great, solid but not worth the drive from Easy Rockaway. The a la vodka slice, however, was! Drive here and eat this slice. It's super thin, crunchy in spots but chewy in others. The a la vodka sauce is super rich --- get a whole pie! My wife said the salad was good, nice dressing and included marinated mushrooms (not advertised) which she really enjoyed. I'd say if you live in Island Park your lucky to have this place. If you don't live in IP, and find yourself on your way to or from the beach, stop by; at least for the vodka slice. read more

My wife and I went for dinner yesterday night to DCoccos using a Groupon certificate. The restaurant itself is mostly takeout but there are some tables in the back.We were seated quickly and ordered a eggplant parm and a baked ziti sicilano with meatballs dinner.The dinners were ok and the portion size was good but they were a major cut below the best rated restaurants in the area. Service was excellent and was responsive. The price to value ratio is about average for this type of restaurant.All in all this was an ok experience but was the experience was not as good as some of the better rated restaurants. read more

I've been going to this place for years , usually they have great staff and service . I came in right after they open today( about 10 minutes after) , and saw they had chicken rolls that were clearly left over from the day before . I asked the guy at the counter if they could make me a fresh chicken roll which has never been an issue in the past . He said he needed to check with the other guy who was making food at the time ( balding man didn't catch his name ) The other guy says it's going to have to be 30 minutes because he's making specials and He considers me his last priority( I am the only customer in the store) . I told him okay that's fine I'll come back in thirty to which he reply's (annoyed) "well no I can't even guarantee it'll be 30 minutes it might be an hour or maybe two hours" . He then again repeated "you would be my last priority" . I'm not sure if he was just having a bad day , or if he just really didn't want to time out of his day to make me a chicken roll but it was definitely an odd and off putting experience . I told him I couldn't wait uo to two hours for one chicken roll and he just shrugged . I guess I'm getting lunch somewhere else since unfortunately he went out of his way to not take my business . The food is actually great but if they aren't willing to make it for you you won't ever get to find out . This was my first bad experience there, so I'll try again another day and hopefully they are willing to make me a chicken roll with less than a two hour wait next time . read more
