Large House Salad with chicken added
    Jim S.

It's been several years since we've dined here and it was a very snowy day, sign on the door said they were going to close early due to the weather but we still had plenty of time for lunch. Even though they seemed really busy but we were seated right away. My wife had the house salad and added grilled chicken, I ordered the hamburger ponyshoe because I heard they were really good here. Our food came out extremely fast (too fast for fresh cooked food) the French Fries on my Pony shoe were a little undercooked and soft and the burger seemed to be precooked because it was barely warm and the cheese sauce was still hot. It was okay but I wouldn't order it again especially when the best Ponyshoe/Horseshoe in the state is at another restaurant just around the corner. Because the atmosphere and service was great we will probably be back but will try something different next time.

I had the shepherds pie. It was a ton of food. I was able to eat all but one bite. Man I was stuffed. The place was packed but we managed to snag a couple places at the bar as soon as we walked in. The bartenders were very friendly and the lady who brought out the food was very nice as well. Cool place for St Patrick's day

Nearly finished horseshoe, N/A Guinness, tea, waters, and a demolished grilled cheese kids meal.

Walked in to a packed restaurant, was told 20 minute wait, but was actually 5. That was a win. Was seated and had a drink order taken with drinks brought back immediately. Food order was placed and also was brought out quickly. Meals were delicious. If you want the dinners that start at four, don't arrive early, they don't start selling until 4 unless it's shepherd pie. Service was nice and speedy. Server Brooke was great!

I've always had a great dinner here! I am from Kansas City and HAVE to get a horseshoe every time I come to town. Their cheese sauce and fries are divine. I have had multiple different shoes and they are great. I had the walleye last time was crispy and tasty. I was a little reluctant due to it being fish but it is one of my favorite shoes! Definitely come visit!

The food and service was great. It's an Irish business and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good experience and a good meal. I had the Hamburger Horseshoe a lot of food good luck finishing it. They had a lot of variations for example they had a Ponyshoe or a Horseshoe you could get with different meats such as turkey, roast beef, hamburger, chicken etc..

Went on a Saturday evening and it was really busy. Got lucky and found seats at the bar so only had to wait about 5 minutes. I had the strawberry salad which is always good. My wife went with the boom-boom shrimp and she loved it. We had a starter of the 217 Baked Brie, which was the cheese with raspberry, chipotle, apple butter jam with slivered almonds. Our bartender/server was right on time throughout the meal and very helpful. Always enjoy the atmosphere of this spot. We'll be back often.

I love their pony shoes. Usually hamburger with spicy cheese sauce and no bread just to cut the carbs.

A staple in Springfield, IL! My mom and I go here every St. Patty's Day, and the wait is always just as long as it is on the holiday. As a native to the Springfield area, I already expected the long wait- about forty minutes on a Friday. The speed of food makes up for it (at least if you get horseshoes because they crank them out in bulk). The horseshoes (both my burger one and my boyfriend's Mac Daddy one) tasted plain, lacking flavor. It would've been more tasteful with a little bit of seasoning.

If I could bottle this place and sell it, I would. Super popular and super good. I want to say every day (or at least once a week) they have a chef's special horseshoes. The ambiance is chill and lowkey. Try it out!

Had to come while we were in town on a work trip. We heard the Horseshoe is what Springfield and D'arcys Pint do best! Service was surprisingly quick since this place is packed at all hours. Food was even better. If you're even in Springfield, this is a must!

Pony sized Turkey Horseshoe sandwich. Pony is less fries and cheese sauce and $1 cheaper than a Horseshoe.

A unique food famous to Springfield IL is the Horseshoe sandwich. Wanted to try at Charlie Parkers, but they close at 2. Google had this business and a few others as best horseshoe in Springfield. What is a horseshoe sandwich? It is Texas Toast, meat ( sliced turkey was my choice), and cheese sauce with fries on top. I don't eat much, so I chose Pony size, which is less cheese and fries. I also removed most bread. I ate most of it except some fries. This is a food to eat occasionally as it is filling. Similar to Louisville or Bardstown Hot Brown without fries.

D'arcy's is very popular, and the food is primarily comfort food--just not to my taste, and not particularly healthy, especially horseshoes.

There were only a couple of empty tables in there, but that changed quickly and within 5 minutes there was a wait of 20-30 mins. Our server "TT" took our orders right away and the entire time we were there no one's beverage got even close to empty. Considering how many tables she had, the amount of attention she dedicated to us was impressive. The food was great! Biscuits and gravy, hash browns and bacon were yummy as were the waffles. For 4 adults the tab came to $52 with drinks, before tip. Not a bad value especially since 3 of us took half of our food to go because the portions are so large. We will be back next time we're in town!

We stopped in on a day's drive from Kansas City to Chicago, due to the quantity and quality of reviews all over the internets, very much including Yelp! We were hungry and in need of some energy for lunch, and Charlie Parker's delivered on both! The place looks like a small military airplane hangar, but don't be fooled: inside is some of the best greasy spoon food you could wish for in the Midwest! The dining room is bright, tight, and fun, decorated to the inch by fun, colorful and humorous memorabilia! We ordered, and were served just a few quick minutes later. Each platter (correct word!) was stuffed with awesome, tasty food! Amongst the four of us, we had some sweet and some savory options, and we all tried each others! We all agreed - the food was delicious! When the bill came and printed at the bottom was a number less than $100, less than $50, I almost lost my mind! We were STUFFED to the gills with awesome diner fare, and our bill was barely $40! How did this happen? I pray this place is somehow eeking out a profit, as I seriously can't remember getting so much awesome food for so little cost in a sit-down restaurant. If it IS making money, then MAJOR kudos to the owner - this business model should be copied throughout the land. Food = 4/5 Facility = 4/5 Service = 4/5 Ambiance = 4/5 Value = 6/5
