My version of a surf and turf.
Joseph D.

This place is amazing. Not at all what I expected when I popped in. I live in Indy and my work takes me to Lafayette a couple of times a month and I was running lte and asked one of my customers where I could pick up a steak and they recommended this place. Fantastic dry goods selection. I had been searching for Calabrian peppers for a long time but the meat and seafood counters are great with more than fair prices. The truly great part is the staff though. All of them know their stuff and are so nice.

We stopped in for lunch mid-day on a Sunday on a our way back from a weekend in Chicago and found D&R Market based on all the positive yelp reviews. It's not far off from the highway and the perfect place to stop for a hearty lunch. We split the smoked chicken with 2 sides. Everything in the hot and cold cases looked delicious! We enjoyed the smoked chicken with the broccoli salad and cucumber salad. You and pick and choose your own barbecue sauce. The sweet ending to our meal was that the owner stopped by and gave us 2 free desserts and thanked us for our business. Being from Kentucky we saw this a true southern hospitality. Thank you for the good meal and tasty banana pudding and oreo pudding dessert!

We continue to be impressed with their service. Everyone is so kind and willing to help. Sometimes we have large orders, or ask them to cut our meat a certain way and they graciously do it for us. Their meat is the best in town! I refuse to buy meat anywhere else now, as no one can beat the quality or selection.

These ribs (and brisket) were THE meatiest moistest perfectly seasoned morsels of happiness! No sauce needed.

These ribs were THE meatiest moistest morsels I've tasted in years! And the brisket was a substantial spice of heavenly meatiness. No sauce needed but if you do decide to dabble a bite into one, go for the spicy as it will tickle your tongue ! And don't forget to stop next door to their meat market to fill up your 'frig and freezer!

This is long -but it is that special. Please help me spread the word…read more This place is so understated and deceiving -in a good way! It looks like a meat packing house from the out-side. But when you step in, it's a homage to the art of meat preparation. The owner Steve is a gem. You can tell this is not only a quality business but also a passion project that he has continued from his father. My daughter is a recent Purdue graduate from '25 class. We are not local, but from NJ. She found this place as part of a local walk and stopped by to pick up a gift certificate to give as a thank you gift.. She noticed they do catering- and thank goodness!. We rented an Airbnb for her graduation so family can stay with us and had planned to have a caterer. But the caterer I booked 4 months prior to graduation cancelled on me one week prior to the event! I was left high and dry. My daughter remembered that Beutlers caters! Steve literally saved us when all others could not or would not. He was not only empathetic to our situation, but he made sure we had an amazing feast and thought of everything to ensure we had the celebration we envisioned. The food was so incredibly good. My family was raving about it all weekend long. Truly THE best pulled Pork and Beef brisket we've ever had. And for a family that doesn't even like beans, they couldn't stop eating it! So good, it should be illegal. We had leftovers for days. Best of all, Steve told me he prepped all the food himself. His TLC was evident. He made sure we had everything needed, even lovely serving baskets and lighters for sternos! My only regret is that my daughter graduated, and I have no known future opportunities to call on Steve again to work his magic. I hope this review gains traction. I'm on a mission to ensure that word gets out about this rare gem of a place and the incredible owner behind it all, Steve Beutler. Heartfelt thank you Steve.

I have been a customer for years in Indianapolis, but alas there are no more Dream Dinners in…read moreIndianapolis. Is this worth the drive up to Lafayette? In my mind yes. Being on the southwest side of Indy, it takes me about the same amount of time to go to Lafayette instead of the pick up point for deliveries in Indy. AND added bonus I get to assemble my meals myself. You may wonder why I would want to put in the work instead of having someone else assemble and deliver for me. Well, two reasons. It's fun to put it all together and you can modify a little bit if there are ingredients you don't like or just want a little bit off. I hate celery and I am allergic to blue cheese, so if I come across these ingredients, I generally just skip them. Some dishes have spice levels, if you do it yourself, you can easily adjust this to your liking. And there are always additional things you can pick up while in the store, such as breakfast items, desserts, sides, and those filled baguettes. Is it expensive? Well, it's not cheap, BUT there are advantages. You can choose to make some 'fancy' dishes, and you do not have to buy a whole container of some ingredient which you wouldn't usually have on hand. Let's say your recipe calls for a tablespoon of capers. Great, but the grocery store doesn't sell by the tablespoon. So now you have to buy an entire container of capers, and truthfully, how many recipes do you make regularly that contain capers? Now you just wasted good money. Here you will have all your dishes with all the necessary ingredients, conveniently in one bag including the cooking instructions ready any time you feel like it. No grocery shopping needed. Plus the staff here is very friendly and always ready to assist you if needed.

I definitely recommend this place to all my family members and all my friends. It's a great place…read morefor a quick bite and enjoy your night

The sodas are served with rabbit-turd ice (unquestionably the best kind of ice). And they are made with real syrups and stirred together, like they used to do back in the olden days when the world was black and white, and the people behind the counter creating your drink were called soda jerks. You can also order a soda with other flavors stirred in, like butterscotch, chocolate, cucumber, cherry, lavender and the like, plus phosphates, floats, malts, Italian cream sodas, dirty sodas, freezes, tea, lemonade, ice cream scoops, sundaes and shakes. If it's sweet and you can drink it or let it melt in your mouth, they can probably make it here for you behind the soda counter at McCord Candies. You'll also find candy and chocolates, of every variety and permutation imaginable. Many of the candies and chocolates are made in-house, like their candy canes, which you can see being made right in front of you around the holidays. If you like sweets, you will find something here. Take your goodies to go, or you can go upstairs and enjoy them where there are a few tables and a nice view of the candy store below.
