    License Check

Daniel, the owner, is not trustworthy. According to State License Board, his contractor's license is revoked due to "Conviction of a substantially related crime". He is not allowed to be contracting at all. When first meeting him and even during the project, we asked him if he was licensed and he answered yes without sharing this important information.  As far as the work itself, he is full of promises but never delivers. It seems like he does not have the resources and skill set to carry out what he commits to. He was going to resurface our yard with large format tiles. His time estimate for the job was two weeks. After we agreed on price and the scope of the work, he promptly sent his workers to demo and remove the old tiles. Then he sent another person to start laying down the new tiles. I originally asked him if he is going to sub-contract the work or his own employees going to do it. He assured me that it would be his own people. The person who started the tile work came for couple days, cutting some tiles but not laying any down. He seemed lacking the skill and the help to do the work. On the third day, he did not show up and I was told that he had family problems. It turned out he was just an independent sub-contractor that was not aware of the scope of the project and decided did not have the skills to do it and left. Next, we waited until Daniel found another individual independent sub-contractor. The new guy also spent few days figuring out how to approach it but sounded very confident and said he can do it single-handedly without help. He worked on this for around a month, laying one tile at a time at his slow pace. By the time he had laid down enough tiles for us to be able to walk on them (and we were told it is ok to), we noticed the majority were hollow underneath. We brought it to his attention and he seemed clueless what the problem is. We let Daniel know and he stopped by and verified the same (something he should have done sooner). He had a discussion with the sub-contractor who decided to quit as well since he did not seem competent on how to fix the problem. Daniel sent his demo guys who removed all the placed tiles and said he himself will lay down the tiles the proper way but too busy at the time. He kept promising a date but, once the date came, he delayed it again. This continued until we decided he was either not capable or did not have the resources to do this job. Since it was more than two months since we started the project with nothing to show and given uncertainty of when, if ever, the project would be done, we asked for our money back. We never heard back from him. I have texted him multiple times with no response from him for 2 months now. Through out the project, I really tired to be flexible and help him out but at the end was burnt.

Daniel and his crew did a wonderful job with our minor shower/bath remodel! They were polite, cleaned up often, and great to work with! We'll be giving them a call when were ready to remodel our master bath! Thank you guys so much!

    Flooring gap in remodeled bathroom.
    Serena O.

I hesitated to write this review because I really was hoping this company would come through and make things right. Unfortunately, several months later they have instead blown me off. Perhaps fixing errors from a job done in April and completing work on a job I had been given a reasonable estimate for was not worth it to them. I had drywall work and a complete bathroom remodel done due to water damage in my home. Work was done quickly and seemingly well, so I asked for a quote for some additional work on another bathroom in the home and received a decent price. Upon a secondary examination of work done on the remodel from the initial job, I noticed the flooring had a small gap from the entry way to the bathroom, just enough to be noticeable and annoying to clean. Daniel said they would definitely fix that when they returned for the second job. I said that sounded great and that I'd be in touch for the second job in the coming months after I'd saved up a bit. This was mid April. I sent Daniel a message in late July asking if we could set a date for the new job and to fix the first job. He said yes that he'd be able to complete these jobs. I then waited several days and didn't hear anything back. I messaged him back asking when we could possibly schedule the work and he said, "I'm busy." I replied that I understood and asked that he please message me in regards to scheduling whenever he could. I then waited a week and a half, with no response. I messaged Daniel that I take the lack of response to mean that he's no longer available and expressed my concerns about not having the initial job fixed. He still did not respond. I'm not sure why he would agree to do something and then blow me and my money off in such a way. If it's no longer a big enough or worth it job, or if he's not interested, a simple response would have avoided much frustration and wasted time on my part. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this company due to unprofessionalism in communication and follow through. Not to mention failure to correct an error on their part with my flooring.

    Tiles installed at the alley

This company has great tile installer, including the owner is an expert. They finished the 2nd project for installing tiles with plank tone. It looks amazing, it creates new character in the house. Great Job!

    Shower

Daniel did an excellent job on our tile shower, he was on time, very professional and good prices.

    Bathroom remodel

Daniel and his team did an incredible job remodeling our two bathrooms. They were courteous, professional, and quick. They communicated very well, everything was synchronized with our schedules and they kept our place as clean as humanly possible given the remodeling mess. Absolutely loved the experience we had with Daniel and his crew and highly recommend them for any remodeling projects. High quality and great value!

Abandoned the work after I paid dehallway. At least I got one day of labor putting up cement board and redgard. The wall with the niches was so bad I had to tear it out and redo it. Redgard all over my carpet in the halway. I called, texted, emailed. No reply. I wouldn't recommend this company.

It pains me to spend time and write negative review to Daniel but this is a community thus important for others not falling into the same experience as I did. Another negative review here was spot on. When I hired Daniel, my wife and I specifically asked if he has experience in cutting tile for the bathroom and will do the job himself since we had bad experience previously. He said yes. So we deposited our money to have the job start with remodeling our master bathroom. The job started on 1/9/21 so the demo guys showed up. Then problem started when he texted me the following week asking if he could pull the guys out for another job. Then the job started to delay with excuses such as guys had root canal, guys broke down car and so on. No schedules, some day guys never showed up. Then others showed up unannounced. Our bathroom vanity was delayed but he claimed he could not do the floor, that was an excuse as well. Let's discuss the quality of the job. Daniel never installed or cut one tile for us. He subbed the job out to the lowest contractors. When I asked him to fix the tile uneven problems, he sent a plumber to fix the grout, mismatched color and made it worse. The shower arm was not even. His statement was it is too heavy. This is 5 pounds shower head! Anyway one after another problems, his guys stepped or dropped something on the subfloor, cracked my ceiling! So, I fired him since other two contractors said the job had to be redone. You can't fix the grout. This costs me $550 for tile and cost of redo the shower walls and plumbing. So here are the pictures. If you want a shower, yes it can be done. If you want quality work, go with others. Advice to Daniel. Honesty is the best policy. I was going to have two referrals that could worth $100k jobs for you. Check quality of your guys, don't hire day laborers. So this experience wasted 3 months of our family living in the dining area. I got another contractor and finished this job in 1.5 weeks. You still owe me $550 for the tile I had to repurchase.

    a kitchen being remodeled

Worst company, abandoned job, left tools did not fix his mistakes, over used materials/damaged over $3k, damaged personal items over $6k worth. Not recommended, has employees and no workerscomp.

Kitchen, kept cabinets but new quartz counters, subway tile, tile floors, changed the look completely!

We've done so many things that I couldn't attach all the photos as it's reached Yelp's limit.. Our shower valve bursted so we needed a restoration for the kitchen (right down below) and the master bathroom. Overall they renovated our kitchen, master bathroom, second-floor flooring, stairs, and replaced our water regulator and some water boxes. The results exceeded our expectations. I still remember after installing the cabinets, I noticed the pantry and one more cabinet's doors were very slightly not aligned and was planning to tell Martin about it. However before I had the chance it was already fixed. We really appreciate such details. The crew was very professional and kept the space as clean as possible during construction. Our home feels completely transformed, and we couldn't be happier with the final outcome. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for renovation work.

Every detail was executed with precision, and it's clear they take real pride in their craft. What truly sets COVA Construction apart, though, is that they consistently went above and beyond--doing things the right way, not the easy way. It's rare to find a construction company that delivers elite detail, integrity, and reliability all at once. COVA Construction did exactly that. I'm absolutely pleased and thankful with my new kitchen and would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for top-tier work. This is a company you can trust who does excellent work at a fair price. JV is reliable, efficient, honest and experienced. So heres the full review: After interviewing four other highly rated local contractors, JV stood out on competitive price, accuracy in anticipating job needs, flexibility in scheduling, and responsiveness. So we hired JV Handyworks for a remote repair on a condo that had a fair amount of water damage, deferred maintenance and two live in occupants. The project seemed simple, remodel floor, paint, add a some fixtures. But that, as it always does, changed. After 30 years working with other contractors, I have seen how things can get gummed up. So when it came time to do the work, I expected some entanglement, some issue. But there wasn't. Everything went smoothly, even when we ran into scope changes from mold, water damage, needing extra materials, etc. If there were any snags, JV would anticipate and correct them. If you hire JV Handyworks, l'm sure you'll be happily surprised at the high level of professionalism, excellent quality of work, real attention to important construction details, timely communication, and most of all that rare quality in the trades, thoughtfulness. We will definitely be hiring them again.

Bob installed my concrete patio and pool deck, my patio cover, some pavers in my back yard, a property fence and most recently an extension of my back yard patio. I have been completely satisfied with everything he has done for me and every day I go in my yard I am reminded of what a professional he is and how good he is at what he does. I just had additional concrete added to my pool deck/patio by Bob. His concrete work is A+ top notch. When I was first looking to get my pool deck/patio installed I was nervous about hiring a concrete contractor as I had heard horror stories and seen horrendous work. I met with several different concrete installers who promised high quality work. (Especially the extremely low-cost installers...UGH! run away from them as fast as you can!). After doing my homework on everyone I hired Bob because his customers spoke highly about him and the photos of his work were fantastic. He stood far above the others based on his reputation and previous work. I was not disappointed. I got a wonderful looking pool deck/patio that drained properly...not one low spot or "bird bath" as they are called. The finish was perfect and the edges were smooth and consistent. I did a curved pool deck and the curves were perfect...not wavy or inconsistent. He even took care of sleeves/futures under the patio for lighting wire and sprinkler lines to the remote planters though I forgot to ask about that. He just did it. He thinks about things you may want in the future and makes sure what he does leaves you access to add those things should you ever want them. There are a lot of people/companies out there who say they do professional quality concrete and general construction work but they don't deliver like Robert Berney Construction. Everything he has done for me is top notch. His prices are reasonable and he is easy to work with. Having work done at your house can be a tedious process but not with Bob. He helps you through it every step of the way and makes the project fun. I have recommended him to friends and family who have used him for patio covers, decks, room additions and even had garages and guest houses built! I highly recommend Robert Berney Construction to anyone considering any type of work done!
