I know they're professional and courteous when talking with them while I'm in work mode, but as a customer this was my first time. Let's start my story off by letting you the reader know that I had this very impressive tire blow out right before the Tyler exit (91 FWY west). First instinct was to pull over and the car finally just DIED in the driveway between Shoe City and P.F. Chang's. I've never seen an SUV's tire shred like that before, just saying. Now, after all that brou-haha the car wouldn't start. Had to have my daughter's bf, my other daughter, and one of the Galleria at Tyler Mall security guys push the dang SUV into the parking lot of P.F. Chang's just to get a jump. Be patient please, I'm getting to the actual review. Just trying to set the stage so you can see where my mind was at... Air pump at closest gas station was out of order. Yay. The closest tire place was most likely gonna charge and arm and a leg and the way this day was going, I wanted to tap out. I'm going in full body melt down. I ended up pulling into the parking lot of the Post Office right off of Hole x Tyler . I called the first company I could think of. Gary answered, took my info, quoted a price, and told me to expect the driver within 20 minutes. Gerardo, the coolest tow truck guy EVER called to let me know he was behind the building (which was on the other side of the block wall) He tells me that he will come around. Ok good, cause I was so distraught at this point. Gerardo comes around, has me move the car to a parking space so that we both were not blocking traffic. As I couldn't understand the perfectly clear directions he was giving me, he kindly asks me to get out so he can straighten out the car in order for him to load onto the tow truck. Thank you Gerardo cause I was already a blithering idiot at this point. Gerardo loads the monster SUV like a piece of cake and we were off! Inside the cab was nice and cool. If you know IE summers, then you know. Very clean inside the cab, very organized. Not at all dirty. Thankfully, the passenger (shotgun side!) seat was comfy as I can't sit longer than 10 minutes. Thank you to my bad back and 3 surgeries. Gerardo was extremely courteous. He tells me a brief history of the company. 3rd generation running the operations. I believe he told me they have been around since 1907? That's impressive! Longevity, I tell ya! He also tells stories of what a tow truck driver has to deal with when the general public acts like fools that the local PD has to get involved. I'm familiar with the types of stories he tells me as I hear them all in the line of work I'm in. True stories do not shock me anymore. Throughout our ride, he tells me how he used to work for a local citrus family owned business and he even pointed out how far the orange groves went. He even pointed out this citrus family business's office. More history! Love it love it love it!! Arrive in front of my parents' house and Gerardo was very polite to my mother. He lowers the monster SUV back onto the pavement and makes a quick call to have his home office run the credit card for payment. He actually apologizes for the wait as the dispatcher he's speaking with has three other lines ringing. 5 Stars all around! Customer service was exemplary. The cost of the tow was way better than I expected. Bauman's Towing, what will you do when it's time for Gerardo to retire? He's great! Don't lose him! Lesson learned today: not all tow truck drivers are mean. They're just human like you and me. I lucked out today! Definitely recommending Bauman's Towing to anyone who will listen. You won't be sorry!

The price is pretty decent, especially for the service you recieve. Quick, professional employees. The man who towed me even made sure I had a ride back to my apartment after we got my car checked into the mechanic. I've never needed a tow before, so he totally helped me out with everything. Contracted through my insurance... the extra charges that I was quoted are outrageous... bonus,…read morethe tow was going onto a military base... extra $$ on top of the extended distance charge. we made arrangements based off of their arrive time (quoted 1 hour) Because of the time involved, we had to make other arrangements (personal getting to work etc), they were there in 15 mins, which would have been awesome...except they need an escort to get on base. An escort that was now 20 minutes away because of the times that we were told. All people involved we're very curtious... however, their willingness to be honest with customers caused them to lose my business. And hopefully if you're military it will have an effect if you need to deal with a tow company in the future.

1 star I had a very…read moredisappointing experience with this tow company. I spoke with Christina, and she initially sounded very nice and helpful. She told me the tow would be $350. I had called other local tow yards, and they were quoting around $250-$300, but they were taking longer. Even though Christina's quote was a little higher, I agreed because they said they were available right away and I needed the car moved. Looking back, I feel like they took advantage of the fact that we were in a stressful situation and needed help quickly. The tow was only about 11 miles. The vehicle was taken to a storage location that Christina recommended. She told me it would be better to take it there in case the car leaked oil, so it would not get on the concrete. At the time, I trusted what she was saying. The car was only stored for about 2 days, and I was told the storage fee was $125 per day. Even with storage, I was shocked when the total changed from the original $350 quote to $1,362. I asked more than once for an itemized invoice showing the tow fee, mileage, storage days, and any extra charges. Instead, I was told the invoice was inside the vehicle, even though I explained that I could not go in person and asked for a photo or copy by text or email. There was no police impound and no police report. I also asked whether this was being charged as a regular tow or an accident/recovery tow, but I still did not receive a clear written breakdown. Overall, I felt the pricing was not transparent, and I felt taken advantage of during a stressful moment. I would strongly recommend getting the full price, storage fees, mileage, and any additional charges in writing before agreeing to use this company or not using them at all.
