I've taken two separate cars to D & D Autoworks on Minnetonka and have had the best experiences. This location is really prominent -- diagonal from McDonalds, right next to the high school, down the road from hwy 7 and close to 100. There's not a lot of parking but I've always had room when I needed it. There are a few chairs inside, a TV, and a culligan water dispenser if you need to wait. If it's nice out there are a bunch of places nearby you could walk to if you'd rather get out. I took my car to the dealership for a routine oil change and ended up paying a stupid amount of money and vowed to not go back and that I'd learn about my car so I could do it myself. Someone must have felt like challenging that vow because the next day, my headlight went out. I called the dealership just to check and no, of course that wasn't covered in my routine service, and it would be at least $100 to fix. I ended up buying the parts I needed after some research on YouTube and tried to do it myself. It wasn't working for me, so I called around and got a couple other quotes. The second place I called (after the dealership) quoted me $47.20. Weirdly specific, but ok. Then I called D & D for a third opinion and Eric told me to bring it in so he could see what he'd need to work with. I brought it over about 15 min after I called and Eric told me it'd either be $15-20 or if they couldn't get it and needed to remove the bumper, $150. I asked how likely it would be to pay the higher amount and he said it was 50/50. I agreed to bring my car in the next day (today) and have them work on it between services. I dropped my car off at 7 am today with Ryan. He was very kind and personable, especially for 7 am. I got a call less than an hour later from Ryan letting me know my car was ready. Since I brought my replacement part, the labor was about $20. I have had such a good experience at D&D and don't feel intimidated when I go -- they treat you with respect and don't bullsh*t you. (Can I swear? Lol whatever.) As a woman, it can be really difficult at auto repair places. If you know, you know. But that's not the case here -- only respect and education. I will be returning to D&D on Minnetonka for all my car services and recommending them to anyone who will listen! read more

Well and his team of expert mechanics came to add me as I was a damsel in distress! My car had died, another shop had it in their parking lot for a week and did nothing and finally I called Will at DND inside can you help? Of course he said bring it over and I have a loaner for you and will take care of you. Suffice to say they did that and then some. They were paired my car and replaced a timing belt that have been installed incorrectly and essentially disintegrated in my car after 20,000 miles. Best and most honest mechanics in the Twin Cities. PERIOD! Background. I have BMW X5. I have performed myself the following repairs: Belts, Tensioners, Pulleys, H2O pump, Radiator hoses and coolant flush, motor mounts, camshaft and crankshaft position sensors and oxygen sensors. OK, so who cares, big deal-right? I only say that as I had a very complicated oil leak and could not find it, and I know quote a bit about repairs. Into the picture steps the smartest mechanic I've ever met: Garrett. He found it and stopped the leak, and he refused to take $$ for first hour of diagnosis. I gave the shop $20 anyway! Next I had the terrorizing (aka-everybody's worst nightmare) electrical problems, passenger window would NOT roll up. Garret diagnosed it in 30 minutes. I bought the part for $119 myself and installed it myself. They charge $98.50 per hour for labor, fairly std. in TC. You can also bring in your own parts, but they will obviously NOT warranty the parts, only the labor... Conclusion: Go to D & D on West Lake. No, RUN to D & D Autoworks. They especially are women-friendly I have read on many reviews. Garrett, Will and Scott always talk honestly to you, NOT DOWN to you, in my very humble opinion... If you need coffee, either go across the street to McDonald's or rough it like I did and walk the 0.8 miles to Caribou! Free wifi at either place. read more

Called them and asked for estimate on a front wheel bearing replacement. Refused to give an estimate, even though was for a specific job. They said they don't give estimates on the phone because they can't be sure what's needed. I said i understood there can be complications but asked for an estimate for straight up a wheel bearing replacement. He still refused and insisted I bring in my car. Then hung up on me. This kind of approach loses my trust from the get-go. It's a PITA to take your car from shop to shop to comparison shop between them. Uncool. read more
