Damn wow! I saw a Sailor Moon cake and cookies at a friend's birthday party and had to find out…read moremore about where she got it. Gamers, movie, cartoon and anime fans alert, you're gonna love this cake designer. Bad Ass Cakes is based in Vancouver, BC. Their Facebook page says their location is in North Vancouver, but their location is actually in the central Vancouver area which is convenient and accessible to everyone. The page is www.facebook.com/forBadAssPeople. I'm a total gamer and anime geek at heart and was excited by what I saw. The creator designs cakes and cookies with themes like League of Legends, Sailor Moon, Iron Man, Star Wars, MineCraft, Portal, etc. He does fashion and regular custom cakes too for weddings and birthdays, and cakes at EXP Restaurant + Bar (another favorite venue of mine). When my gf unveiled the cake at her birthday dinner, all the guests (and myself) were really surprised at how gorgeous the cake and cookies were. The designer made a pink Chibi Moon vanilla cake with pink icing inside, and the exterior was made with fondant. It was high quality tasting fondant, and tasted like a delicious marshmallowy flavor. The fondant was not overly sweet (which other bakeries tend to do) so it paired very nicely with the cake. The cookies were super cute, they were shortbread cookies that were chewy and soft, and the icing was also not overly sweet. Everything tasted good and I highly recommend Bad Ass Cakes, especially to those who love games, anime and movies if you're looking for that extra special custom cake! I want one too now. The photos below are hers, since mine came out too blurry with my crappy phone cam. I received permission to use her photos for my review. I was there physically at the party.

So in honor of that title we ordered a chocolate Popeye cake and left the creativity and design to the discretion of Bad Ass Cakes. We were delighted with the end results. Our cake was made within budget, it was super fun and so delicious! The wedding guests loved it! We will certainly utilize the talents of this cake master again.

When something is done simply and perfected- this is that slice of treat. Not heavy and the sponge to cream ratio is light. The sponge had the rise and fluff with a tad bite of chew which from my amateur baking knowledge, meant not overmixed in the final foldings, im going to even guess in the dry mix a small percentage of corn starch. ME Concept Cakes is now on my radar next time I need a cake.

Reservation: I made a reservation a few days in advance for afternoon tea. The booking process is available on their website and was very easy to navigate. Food: It was also Chinese New Year, so their afternoon tea featured some CNY-inspired savory items presented in a bamboo steamer, along with a yuan bao-shaped dessert. Both the savory and sweet selections were delicious and beautifully presented. I've compared Yandoux Patisserie with a few other afternoon tea menus, and I found that they offer more thoughtfully designed, higher-quality items such as beef tartare, salmon oshi, and truffle mushroom crostini. I especially liked that they only serve one scone, so you're not too stuffed to fully enjoy the sweet items. The staff also informed me that their chef change out the menu regularly based on occasion or season. So you won't be getting the same menu every time! Pricing: The set was $59 per person, plus tax and tip. For the quality they offer, I think it's absolutely worth it and comparable to hotel afternoon tea experiences I've had in the past. Customer Service: The staff was very attentive and friendly. They answered all of our questions and reviewed the menu with us to confirm our afternoon tea set. Once the tea set arrived, the staff explained each item and the suggested order for enjoying them. They also regularly refilled hot water in our teapot throughout the meal. Ambiance: Since it was Valentine's Day, the staff decorated the table with fresh rose petals. They even gave me a single rose stem at the end of the meal, which was such a sweet touch. The entire space is very clean, cute, and perfect for afternoon tea. Yandoux Patisserie is located in a building with a parking garage. Parking was about $1 per hour, which was very reasonable. I will definitely come back whenever I'm in town next!!

The decor was absolutely beautiful, and I truly loved the space. Each decorative item was thoughtfully arranged, creating a lovely atmosphere. I want to come back when next menu become available!

There was a short line of travelers grabbing their final Tim Hortons fix, and with only one worker that morning, the wait was a bit longer--but still totally reasonable. There are a few tables, but given its airport setting, it's primarily a grab-and-go spot. - Iced Latte -- simple shot of espresso over cold milk; I opted for no syrup and it made for a clean, refreshing midday caffeine kick - Honey Cruller -- light, airy, beautifully honey-glazed; perfectly fried and not too heavy, my first time trying a cruller and I loved it Once we placed our order, service was quick. Ambience is standard airport vibes--wasn't too busy when we went, though I'm sure it fluctuates depending on flight schedules since it's tucked between multiple gates. Overall, this location isn't as modern or spacious as the Bridgeport Road Tim Hortons, but it definitely hits the spot for one last Tim Hortons craving before heading out of Canada!

I tried their croissant when they were first opening and loved their black sesame croissant. Perfectly flaky and very deep in black sesame flavours. On a different occasion, had the opportunity to get a cake from them. It was a seamless process to place an order for their cakes online and pick up the order. I ended up getting the Vietnamese Coffee Tiramisu cake since I thought the birthday recipient would prefer that one the most. When it came time to cut the cake, it was a complete mess as the sponge was way too soaked mixed with the cream, the top layers of the cake were shifting while the cookie crust stayed put since it was too firm to cut through. It was a sticky, wet cake situation that was a bit unpleasant for a birthday that some people even said they'd skip the cake because of the mush appeal... this would've been great as a spoon the cake out of a bowl type of tiramisu situation however, for the price and size of the cake, you'd expect a cake to cut properly if it is sold as 'x' servings....
