Food quality was excellent. Service was amazing as well . We tried several different offerings today with three of us all ordering different items from the Polish menu. Cabbage rolls, meatballs and noodles, sausage and saurkraut, potato pancakes, and pierogis were among the many selections. All items arrived hot and flavorful and were presented nicely on the plate. The three of us all enjoyed what we tried and we all of course shared tastes around the table. We saved room for dessert and were not disappointed in the molten lava cake, carrot cake, or chocolate cream pie for dessert. We would highly recommend this restaurant and certainly look forward to another visit when we might try the Mexican food portion of the menu. read more

I really enjoyed eating here. The menu was very simple and straightforward. I ordered the Polish combo plate. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was exactly what I expected and more, and was like Nana's home cooking. The atmosphere was fun with Polka playing in the background, and every table had a different salt shakers. Came with a group of 10 people and we fit perfectly! They could actually accommodate 12 people in one table if I had to eyeball it. The food here is super delicious; and you can tell everything is freshly made. I ordered something that was kind of like ground beef wrapped in cabbage, definitely recommend. At first, I was a little intimidated by the menu because I didn't understand it, but the waitresses are super helpful in explaining everything and giving you a breakdown of their food. The service was pretty quick, and I have nothing but nice things to say about that. If in the area, I can see myself coming back! Everything was spot on. Went in late on a Saturday afternoon about 4:30pm, was greeted by a waitress who was definitely stressed and took it out on us. Told us that the soonest they could seat us was 7pm because they had two large reservations, even though they had a few tables where people were eating already and the first thought through my mind is that no way are those people (not in the reservations area) were going to stay until 7pm, that waitress was really not suited for stress and customer service at the same time. She had stated there were only two of them on the floor at the time we arrived, that certainly was not our fault. Almost left out the door at that point, first impression was unacceptable. We ended up sitting at the counter, the aluminum table at best was a bit bouncy in the middle nevertheless we stayed there. I ordered the pierogi meal, which consisted of 3 pierogies, a small amount of seasoned green beans and a scoop of mashed potatoes. The food was good, but did not fill me, portions too small, probably aimed at senior citizens who do not eat much. Additional pierogies were a substantial uptick in price. The wait staff forgot our bread which was part of the meal, so they gave it to us to take home instead. Since it was a Saturday, they had music, it was extremely loud and in the atmosphere, I felt like I was in a retirement home facility, there was maybe one or two younger people there, primary senior citizens (where I am not at yet). They were singing along, very off key and too loud for my taste. I will come back again to sample the food once more, but not when the music is offered (definitely not on the weekend) and will try something else, hopefully it will fill me. I want to love this place but I've been here 3 times now and each time it goes down hill for me. I like the live music played by a local artist. Not too loud and polish music mixed with adult contemporary suits the setting Waitresses all very nice. Food. Well - it's just never consistent and tastes like something from a retirement home. Perogies - dry , and no flavor. Meatballs. 4 little meatballs with tasteless mashed potatoes and boxed noodles for $15 just seems over priced Stuffed cabbage is good Hog dog is greasy and the bacon should be wrapped around it, not little bits sprinkled on it. Also the bun gets soggy sitting in the dill pickle slices juice - yuck! Bread roll - dry The food just seems overpriced for the setting and the amounts. Decor: This is a problem. I get the grandma house look and am fine with it BUT the carpet is sooo filthy that your shoes stick to it and I think it is what gives the place the musty smell. If owner has any budget please pull the carpet and just paint the floor. It would be better than what's going on now. A huge turn off. You're in Milford with a lot of competition not up north in a small town. Up your game please! I want you to be successful. I hear the same comments I'm saying from lots of neighbors. read more

The Polish cuisine is all excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy, almost like (I imagine) sitting in your Polish grandma's dining room. Nice staff with excellent customer service. DO NOT ORDER CATERING FROM HERE! Ordered - Confirmed Twice - Driver never showed up and we were not notified of any issues and had to cancel our luncheon last minute. Our company had ordered catering services (food + delivery) for our holiday luncheon on 12/22/23. It was ordered many weeks in advance with the owner Lisa who was quite adamant that it was no problem - 27 people + delivery to our office in Auburn Hills. I verified delivery with her (we were paying extra due to the distance) to make sure because we could arrange pick up either the night before (we would reheat) or the morning of if this was going to be an issue. Lisa even called back 2 days after booking (from her cell number-important later on) to let me know that she had talked to the delivery person and let me know it was not going to be a problem. I then called and confirmed with her 3 days prior to the event to make sure we were all set - Yes according to Lisa. The day of the luncheon - about 20 minutes after delivery time I called the restaurant to see if the delivery person was delayed or perhaps lost. I was baffled by no answer at the restaurant and a message that the mailbox was full and could not leave a message. We called a couple of times over the next 10 minutes while hoping the driver would show. Fortunately, I remembered that Lisa had called my cell from her cell phone, so I was able to go back in history and look up her number. Once answered, I questioned about the driver being late and was told that they weren't coming but could get it in the car now and be at our office in 1-1/2 hours which would be 2 hours after our scheduled catering delivery. I find this very unprofessional and inexcusable from a business perspective. No call to let us know (Lisa had 2 different phone numbers to our office/cell), of any issues with food or delivery, and if we didn't call to find out what was going on - we would not have been notified at all. No apologies from anyone that they had completely screwed up in any way. I would NOT and will NEVER do business with this restaurant again. read more

Cool little spot! When I heard Polish/Mexican restaurant I just HAD to check it out! I was expecting/hoping for fusion though, where it's literally just a menu that is half Polish food and half Mexican food. Make a third section of fusion food to get that elusive fifth star :) Let's go taco pierogis!! We both got Polish food, and it was legit. Would definitely return. We found this gem, Czapski's Kitchen, on our way home from Michigan's victory over the Buckeyes and it was like icing on the cake! Fabulous family dining with classic Polish food. Deliciously prepared, the City Chicken was tender tasty, just like my mom used to make. I recommend a combo plate of city chicken, guampky, meat balls dill pick soup and a side of pierogi. Racism and bigotry alert! This week was my first and last time eating at Czapski's. After eating an average meal, owner Lisa came up to my table to chat with me and my company which was very briefly an endearing moment until I told her I was visiting from Seattle. Once I shared that info with her, she immediately began a slanderous unhinged rant about my city and all the "communists" in Seattle and how she'd shoot with a gun every person at the Black Lives Matter protests last summer who was breaking windows. To Lisa, a window is more valuable than a human life. Once she realized I was not at all in agreement with her rhetoric and proclamations, I was characterized by her as one of the "communists" though I seemed "nice". Then she went on a rant about the "China virus". I do not recommend supporting this business. read more

I have heard nothing but great things about this place from people around town, so I decided to give the catering company a try! (I have not had a meal in the restaurant) I walked into the restaurant to order 2 1/2 weeks before my event, the woman who took my order was polite and very helpful, I paid for my 3 salads for Sunday pick up at 11 am and left. (No mention that they don't open until 12) On the day of the event, I sent my husband to pick up the salads the doors were locked and the sign said they didn't open until 12 so he called their phone number and he was told there were absolutely no orders that were supposed to be picked up today. He had me call to tell them what I had ordered. A woman mentioned that they must have lost the order form or thought they already filled my order. Hearing that didn't help in my time of panic as the event was starting. Ultimately, the salads were made and they were just late to the event but I couldn't imagine what I would have done if my order was more than just salads. The food was good I ordered the Caesar Salad, Black bean and corn salad and the Kale medley. My only complaint is about the Kale Medley, I'm not sure if it was because my order form was lost that they didn't have enough on hand to make the salad the way it typically is made but if Kale is used in the name I would think that would be the main green used. It was more of a romaine medley with hints of kale in it. Again not sure if this is how it is usually made. I will eventually order from here again but I recommend calling the day before your event just to make sure they have a record of your order. read more

Unexpected Fathers Day Luncheon (Long Review) Our visit 8/18/22 was a late Father's Day gift from one of our daughters (1 of 7) and my granddaughter (1 of 14 grandchildren). We were a party of 5 and our attendance was 1 pm to 3 pm (nice relaxed lunch!). The table population during this time consisted of a group of at least 10-12 "seasoned" young ladies, two 5-tops, a few 2&3-tops and steady carry outs. We enjoyed the service of Julie, the lone server, who was very attentive & friendly and was assisted by the backroom team for food. delivery. First of all I was impressed that It was a restaurant featuring Polish food. Back in the day this was a 24-hour free standing diner (aka last Clancy's ?). The renovation to make it more Polska (ambience) was impressive. Off to a good start. I ordered the combo plate (gołabki, pierogi and kielbasa) as well as sampling and enjoying the other dishes ordered at our table. The food is basic polish fare but enhanced with Western European influences which I have been told were reserved for the royalty. Bottom line it was equal to, if not better than, my own Polish cooking (I do not cook professionally and my culinary skills learned from my Mom Helen and trial & error, big difference). I would give this restaurant a 5 out of 5 but nobody is perfect. so it is 4.95. Background: I am 2nd generation of Polish ancestry, my wife (Irish) and I are the proud parents of 11 children (and their significant others of various backgrounds) who share my father's and mother's Polish heritage & culture. Combination Plate was outstanding! Guampkis, kielbasa and Kraut, and the awesome city chicken!! Delicious!! Plate was plentiful and nobody push away from the table hungry.. Just discovered this little gem The menu is limited so it may not be your cup of tea. Quaint and currently serves limited beer and wine. They say cocktails are forthcoming but I'm not sure that this might do more harm than good The meatballs and noodles were great but the star of the show for me at least was the mashed potatoes and gravy. The stuffed cabbage was also very good. The brisket dinner was a lot but also delicious. I even tried the dill soup which surprisingly wasn't bad. We will go back for sure! read more

Don't bother if you want to be safe. The owner proudly doesn't wear a mask and doesn't enforce with the staff. I simply can't go back after seeing this type of behavior straight from the owner. There are so many places in town that are making sure they stay safe so we can stay open. This is not one of those places. I can't support anyone who isn't willing to do what they can to keep Michigan open and the families eating there safe. Even when it just means following simple health guidelines. read more

We decided to give this place a shot for lunch. I was taken aback by the "Polish and Mexican" description. I am very happy we stopped. The restaurant was decorated in a quirky fashion, similar to what I had seen in small restaurants in Europe. We all ordered different combination plates, which allowed you to choose 3 different items. Our party had golumkis, pierogies, kielbasa, meat balls, and city chicken. Each combo also came with green beans, noodles, and mashed potatoes. The food was awesome. Clearly made from scratch using someone's grandma's recipes. Good portion sizes and really authentic. Found Czapski's because of a recommendation from a friend. He couldn't stop raving about the roast pork. My wife and I came later on a Sunday. We were seated and served at our table by a real live waitress, not as other reviewers complained having to order from the counter and serve their own water.(I'm sure there has been and will be growing pains as this is a recent start up). Lisa has catered and cooked professionally for years. She is a foodie and loves to cook. We both had the Polish platter. My wife had the stuffed cabbage, kapusta(krout) and two types of kielbasa, and the meatballs. All definitely fresh made and Polish. I had city chicken, stuffed cabbage, and Lisa the owner offered me a piece of her roast pork shoulder even though that is not offered with the Polish platter. OUTSTANDING!! This restaurant has some potential. We stopped in for a late lunch. The place is very small but seating wasn't a problem because it was about 2:30 pm. I could see at a busier time it may be a problem. You do need to stand at a counter and order your food, kinda strange because two ladies were working to bring out food. When paying with credit card they ask you if you'd like to add a tip. I found that strange as I really hadn't received any service yet and I usually tip according to the service I received. We both ordered a combo plate with different items. I was disappointed that only one pierogi came in the meal. Everything tasted pretty good. The green beans were pretty cold, the sausage had three small pieces one of them was good the red skin one the white sausage I didn't care for. We felt it was a little pricey for what you got. This is a quaint restaurant with an inviting atmosphere. It is more of a Polish-American cafe, and you can smell the yummy cabbage soup when you walk in. The staff is very friendly and helpful too :) The negative reviews are probably from people not familiar with Polish food - there isn't another place like this one for miles and miles. We had the pierogies that came with crisp green beans very tastefully seasoned. The fish special came fried but was quite flavorful and made the guilty pleasure worth it. My daughter had the dill pickle soup - I know, I was a little hesitant, but it had a thick, rich base, great for a cold, snowy day, and a subtle dill flavor. She LOVED it! A couple of critiques that won't take away any stars: the Polish/Mexican/American mix is a little weird, but maybe as the restaurant establishes its best sellers, the menu will be adjusted.
