We stayed in The Willow and it was to date one of the best adventures I've been on. The treehouse was exciting and the swing bridge scary but fun! The whole area was so well kept and clean, The bathrooms were amazing! Hot Water!! Clean showers and toilets and all so private. Plenty of blankets to keep you warm in the treehouse. For my hubby's birthday, I booked a 2 night stay here for Aug 1 & 2, 2020. We stayed at the Yoki Treehouse which is their newest treehouse that is very private and secluded. The treehouse itself was amazing and it was a dream come true for us as we have both wanted to stay in a treehouse since we were kids! I mean who doesn't have a childhood dream of staying in a treehouse but there's not many opportunities to do so growing up in a city. We had a relaxing 2 days here where we enjoyed the soaking tub, read in the reading nook, laid out on Big Joe, had our morning tea and coffee outside in nature, bird watching and so much more! It was so quiet and its truly just a time for you to connect with nature. The treehouse itself is beautiful, modern and the layout and design is truly thought out to immerse you in nature. You are surrounding by trees whichever glass window you look at. It is so quiet, you feel suspended in the trees! My favorite part of the treehouse which I had figured out the moment I was leaving was that everything you pour into the kitchen sink...goes right to the floor 30 feet down. Water gets poured back into nature below! My hubby was pouring out the tea I did not finish and I just so happened to be standing outside the front door with our luggage when I heard loud water being splashed. I peaked down and saw the tea go straight down. That was the coolest! I had booked this trip way before COVID and due to the pandemic, the zip lining tour was cancelled. But, it's ok as we still had a fantastic time staying here! The price for the Yoki per night is very expensive and I would recommend for the owners to at least provide breakfast every morning. A hand delivered breakfast would be a very nice touch. Shout out to Shelby for keeping me in the loop the whole time and when I needed shower gel & Kleenex she arranged for it to happen. Keep in mind this is nature and there are bugs/insects everywhere. The restroom is a place were they like to hide. We saw spiders, scorpions, grasshopper, centipedes, wasps in there. FYI- there is no body lotion or hair dryer in case those things are important to you, please bring those! Otherwise everything else that a hotel normally has, is provided. I booked a one night stay at the Juniper treehouse. Check in / check out process was very seamless, but that's very likely due to the fact that the treehouse is not locked (there is no key) which presents a concern about leaving any valuables in there while you're away. The treehouse comes with coffee/tea/water although the coffee packets were actually expired. I wish they had provided a few snacks given that the room didn't have a fridge. Also, the AC unit was also rather loud at night but I'm probably just a light sleeper. While I knew the restroom was not in the treehouse, it's actually much farther than I had anticipated and at night, the walkway isn't well lit which made me avoid using the restroom as much as possible. I didn't get to use the pool but when I visited it, it wasn't too clean. I think if they were to clear the pathway and do lights, it would be the perfect late night swim! Despite these drawbacks, I did enjoy the treehouse itself, it was pretty romantic and felt very secluded. read more

My sister came from abroad and we stayed this place. It's a place where you can get a two-bed for almost $700 per night. We were so excited before we left. But the reality was different. When my 7-year-old son tried to open the bathtub door, the large glass door fell and almost caused serious injury. I checked the whole house before leaving, but unfortunately I left a cardigan behind. I tried calling several times and left a voicemail. But they did not pick up the phone and give it back. Then the male manager answered the phone and said we had left something behind and would send it to me by mail. Even after a month it didn't come. I called and left a message again more than 5 times, but I was unable to contact them. Then today I got a call and he said, "I searched last night and this morning, but it didn't show up. So, I asked him "you told me you had it. can you look for it again today and callme back tomorrow? Then they said they had already looked for it and it wasn't there.so " If you expect any care or any respect from them for your stay, choose somewhere else. This is a dangerous structure for both children and adults, so we can be in danger, but there are no phone service , and also don't expect them to ever answer the phone. And If you leave something important behind, just think of it as throwing it in the trash.Very disappointed place. Ever. read more

We had a nice stay in the juniper tree house. It was a little retreat for my husband and I for a few days and we enjoyed getting to experience Spicewood and the area around it. A few things to mention: 1. the Willow and Juniper treehouses and off the main road and you can head the traffic in your room at all hours. I didn't think I was sensitive to the noise of traffic, but it is amplified when you are surrounded by this beautiful nature scenery and then hear multiple vehicles driving by. 2. The bathrooms are very well kept. I was a little nervous about the idea of community bathrooms and then being outdoor bathrooms, but they out did themselves with design, and upkeep. There are many, many daddy long legs on the outside of the bathroom doors (a few sneak their way in) but you are in the middle of trees and nature so it is expected. 3. The staff is incredibly friendly. 4. If you have a chance to venture out, go to Round Mountain Distillery (about 20 minute drive) Mike the owner is great company and has great rum. Angels has a great outdoor space with live music, and sweet berry farm was a fun activity depending on the season. 5. Ask if you can tour the event center, it is BEAUTIFUL! They need to be marketing this space because it is amazing. 6. There is some housekeeping that needs to be kept up with a little better mainly in the front office which I thought was strange because that's where your guests come in to greet you. But it just needs a good dusting a sweep, nothing too serious. Overall our stay was good. I would recommend this for anyone wanting a unique little getaway, just don't forget your sound machine! read more

This was our first time "glamping" and had high expectations. We booked two tents and I picked them based on their names. There was no map provided of the tent layouts so I just rolled the dice and we ended up just across from one another. The entire weekend we only encountered one other couple who were staying in a treehouse. Overall, Cypress Valley seems like it was a great place to stay and enjoy but has faded a bit over time. There are three gas grills, oversized Jenga, yard chess, and spike ball. There is a covered area next to the camp store that had a table and lounge area. The camp store had an interesting variety of items and is self regulated via iPad for checkout. The pool was very poorly kept and the water was very green. We didn't venture a swim. There are also several hammocks that were very dirty so we didn't use those either. Staying in the tents you park a short distance from the site and wagons are provided to bring your belongings up. The tents are neatly appointed, clean, and comfortable. There is a medium sized Yeti cooler on the small front landing. Linens, towels, and bathrobes are provided along with a battery for power access. The battery has a very bring strobing light on it when all items are turned off that isn't the most soothing to sleep to. The exterior of the roof is covered in debris and mold spots. The mold spots could be stains but there was no obvious sign of any cleaning (streaks, patterned mold spots, etc) that would lead that to be the case. There is a very small exhaust fan that seems to be intended to move air but is no way capable of effectively doing so for the size of the tent. The first night was miserably hot and we were dripping with sweat until a storm came in. The storm was a very strong spring Texas storm and we woke to the tent floor very wet. We let staff know via text and subsequently nothing was done. The floor remained soaked. I kind of wonder why they ask if we need anything addressed. We also expected daily housekeeping of the communal baths/showers only to have one of the toilets in poor condition for the entirety of our stay illustrating that that was not the case. All communication was done through text. While it's possible they were there, we never witnessed any staff. All in all, it was an ok adventure. We would have loved to have been able to participate in some other activities that the area has available, but they were all closed. read more

Excellent time staying at the Yoki Treehouse! We felt like we were staying in a luxury jungle hut. Highly recommend to someone looking to stay somewhere off the beaten path with a sense of adventure. One unfortunate thing was that you can hear the highway from the treehouse (of course, nothing that could be controlled by Cypress Valley), but did detract from the overall vibe. The actual treehouse and location of the structure on the property was nothing short of perfection. The aesthetics and design are impressive. My daughter and I had a blast!! Here is how it all went. The online sign-up was a breeze. We arrived about 30 minutes ahead of schedule; we did this so that we can take pics of the property(over 90 acres). Our instructors arrived and gave everyone an overview- they were very detailed at explaining the process and how our day would go. Riley and Ferus were outstanding!! Cypress Valley Canopy Tours actually offers two different tours - a canopy tour and a challenge course. The canopy tour is a bunch of ziplines - the first one is scary, even though they take you through ground school on a little zipline only 6 feet above the ground, but they quickly became very enjoyable (even though I am scared of heights). The challenge course is another thing entirely. You take two ziplines to a set of platforms in the trees connected by a bunch of nefarious bridges of all different types. You can get through it walking through just a normal rope bridge, but along the edges are things like pure cables, sets of logs set sideways, a set of just three ropes where the middle rope starts below the first two on one side and ends up above them on the other, and so on. You can choose which paths you want to take, do the same things over and over, etc. This course was definitely challenging (if you choose the harder paths). When I read about rope courses I was thinking about Indiana Jones-type bridges, with a solid base held up by ropes, not bridges composed purely of a rope or of logs more than a foot apart that slide back and forth, or just a cable, etc. - all very high above the ground. The best part of the challenge course is the exit - you do a superman zip, where you go face down on the fastest zip line ever. That was a little scary at first even after all the other ziplines, since you are face down and are not braking, but quickly becomes exhilarating, as you are literally flying through the trees. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a two night stay here at the Yoki for my birthday back in February. Check in and check out was easy and staff were super friendly and welcoming. They gave us a quick tour of the treehouse before we settled in. The Yoki was stunning and so spacious. We enjoyed our coffees on the deck in the mornings. It was so peaceful and quiet. So - let me paint you a picture. It's 5 weeks before our wedding and our venue cancels on us. We were out town for a business trip and unable to visit any new venues in Austin. It was the most stressful and nerve wrecking time EVER! I was frantically searching for a new venue, when clouds parted and a beam of light from heaven descended upon me and brought Cypress Valley Event Center to my attention via TheKnot.com. They NOT ONLY let us have our wedding out there on a day they typically wouldn't be open, they gave our guests ziplining discounts, were quick to respond to texts and emails, worked with our budget, worked to help us reach our wedding vision (which required a few waivers, haha!), and were phenomenal all around. I sent them an incredibly frantic email describing our situation, budget, & plans we had for the previous venue to see if there was any way they could work with us on such short notice. Shelby, the General Manager, wrote me back and was sooooooo nice and understanding and willing to work with us on all the details. I honestly can't say enough positive things about Shelby because she is the absolute best person to work with. She was there for us at every turn, offered really amazing solutions to bumps in the road, took time out of her busy day to let us tour the venue a few times, helped us figure out ways we could lay out the ceremony, and so much more. There really aren't enough kudos to give this incredible woman. If you're looking for a magical and romantic outdoor location for your wedding, look no further. I HIGHLY suggest that you and your wedding party stay in the Ranch House for the night before and the night of your wedding. It is a beautiful home with loads of room to accommodate all of your overnight guests and its very aesthetically pleasing. It has a full kitchen with the largest fridge I've ever seen, stove, coffee maker, etc. It's perfect. The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking. Imagine yourself descending through an amphitheater while your beau and best people are waiting for you on a bridge suspended over a stream of babbling water. It is perfect. At night, there are lights in the trees that make it seem almost otherworldly as the lights dance on the cypress leaves. The venue provides tables, chairs, some decorations, the ceremony and reception spot have gorgeous warm lighting, and a bar area is provided. I can't thank Cypress Valley and Shelby enough for the experience they gave us. It was truly the best day of our lives and our guests had a ball. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary this week. Checked in to the Nest on Tuesday. The accomodations are unique. This is mostly like glamping. The round pods are nicely appointed, the kitchen had a fridge and toaster oven, nice sized dining room table (6 seats). Sleeping quarters have good AC. The nighttime views were tremendous. There was a late night tussle in the canyon below, probably just a chuppacabra having dinner. After the second night we awoke to a beautiful warm day and went on the zipline tour. From the first time I came across their website, I was excited to stay in one of their treehouses. Booked a stay for 2 in the Lofthaven, and it exceeded the high expectations I had. The photos of this treehouse were beautiful, but to see it in person was breathtaking! The beautiful waterfall tub was heated and simple to operate. The kitchenette was stocked with basic necessities, though I would recommend bringing snacks. The bed was comfortable, and the property was so serene. It did get a bit chilly overnight, but a heater, robes, and extra blankets were provided. The contact-free check in process was seamless, clear directions were given to the treehouse, and there were posted signs that helped as well. I did not get to experience the canopy tours as they were closed for COVID, but I look forward to returning in the future. This place was absolutely worth every penny and hour spent on the drive up. If you're considering it, I highly recommend, but be sure to plan ahead because it books up for months, and for very good reason. read more

I wanted to really love this place, but never got the chance. We made reservations for Valentines's Day several months in advance. The day before Valentine's Day, we arrived in Texas to find a voice mail saying they were canceling our reservation due to the fire marshal shutting them down. This was unfortunate, but what can you do? We spent hours trying to find another place to stay, which turned out to be impossible the day before Valentine's Day, so we stayed with friends. They have offered to refund our money and give us complimentary canopy tour gift certificates, which I'm sure our friends will enjoy. I was feeling pretty forgiving about the whole thing until I found out from my friends that this happened before to them. Really? What are the odds that they got shut down by the fire marshal multiple times. I don't know if they've just got some sort of war going on with the fire marshal or poor management practices or just an uncanny amount of bad luck, but I'd think twice about planning on staying here. I have always been somewhat of an adrenaline junkie (5AM calls to wrangle in a wild horse or rescue a chained Pit Bull gets me excited) but I am terrified of heights if there is not water underneath. That said I absolutely LOVE the adrenaline rush of zip lining once I start swinging from platform to platform like Tarzan's Jane! My Cypress Valley Tour was awesome! Our guides were personable and very educational for the newbies and with safety details. I felt safe zipping through the trees with amazing views above and below but I was hoping for more of an adrenaline rush. I am deathly afraid of heights. My wife convinced me to do this and it was fun. The scariest parts for me were walking across the wooden rope bridges. The staff was fantastic without a doubt. It cant be easy to get a group of people who dont know each other to warm up to them. Safety is obviously a great concern for them and I never felt unsafe. For $75 a person I felt like when we got to the end that they were yanking our chains wjen they said that was the end. I suppose it is shorter due to the fires a few years back. I enjoyed the zip lining. If I do it again I dont think I will be nervous. It just felt like there was maybe 6 minutes of ziplining in the 2 hours we were there. It was a fun experience. My fiance and I have always wanted to stay in the treehouses. They looked really cool! Sadly, I'll probably never get to experience them. Once we got engaged, Cypress Valley was our first choice of wedding venues. It was close to home and something that was on our bucket list already. We checked with our photographer and booked rooms for us and our officiant. My mom booked a room as well. I called at least 4 times and spoke with at least 2 different people about details. Each time, they assured me that our date was good and we could not only stay there, but also have our ceremony there as well. I was even told that the day was completely open and I could choose whatever time I wanted. The lady that I spoke to emailed me a sample contract, but said I needed to verify the time and she'd send me the final contract. I emailed her back with a time, but she never responded. Because I had all of the assurances, I assumed everything was fine and we would be able to talk to her in person during our tour in a couple of weeks. 2 months before the wedding, the owner called me to tell me that they had overbooked and were cancelling our reservation. She was apologetic and knew that it was BS. (Her words, not mine) She gave us an immediate refund and offered a gift certificate for a 2 night stay, something that she didn't offer my fiance when she talked to him. Guess that was BS as well because I haven't seen that yet. She claimed that it was because of a software error showing false available dates, but I don't fully buy that excuse because I was able to see available dates and many were already booked. She also brought up the fact that I hadn't signed a contract, but that's only because I was waiting on the updated one. She said that she'd save another date for us, but I wasn't willing to do that because family members had already bought plane tickets and booked rooms at another location. (No other treehouse rooms were available) It was difficult enough to get my fiance's daughter here on this date with school and athletic schedules. I was left scrambling to find another place to stay and a venue for our wedding. Also, the owner never even bothered to call my mom who had made her reservation on her own. A courtesy call would have been nice, guess the owner couldn't be bothered with that. Looks like this place will be deleted from our bucket list. read more

Let me begin by saying that Cypress Valley is not just a vendor to me because they feel more like family. Not only is the venue the most unique and magical place to possibly get married in, but the staff were down-to-earth, kind, and helpful right from the start and were a joy to work with. Specifically, I have to sing the praises of the General Manager, Shelby. She is a delight and radiates positivity and a genuine excitement for her job at all times. She always had a "can do" attitude, and if there was ever a question I had (I had a lot) that she didn't know the answer to, she came right back with an answer and solution in no time! I am a very detail-oriented person, and often have difficulty trusting other people to care about details the way that I do. This was NOT the case with Shelby! She is a rock star at her job, and genuinely cares about the details! I was 100% confident during the entire wedding planning process that nothing would slip through the cracks if Shelby was involved, and I was right. One of the best parts about deciding to get married at Cypress Valley was the level of trust and independence I had with the staff. They aren't overbearing and rigid like so many other wedding venues out there. They trust that you will respect their rules and the space, and then are completely hands-off from there unless you need them. My wedding was beautiful and the guests LOVED the venue! Despite it being a little warm since it's an entirely outdoor space, no one seemed to be that bothered by it! My husband and I and our family members stayed in the treehouses and Ranch House, and had the best time!!! The treehouses are so charming! We actually plan to come back on our anniversary! I hope my words do justice in describing how amazing Cypress Valley and their staff are. We celebrated our 8th anniversary with a zip line tour and a stay in the Juniper treehouse. It was amazing! The views are breathtaking and the zips are exhilarating yet tolerable for those who may be afraid up there. Our guides, Ferris and Sara, were wonderful, knowledgeable, and patient with those who needed an extra pause before a zip The tree house was clean and cozy, and the porch was just big enough to have a cup of coffee and enjoy the sounds of nature. The bathrooms are a bit far, but as expected for a treehouse getaway. We didn't get to stay the entire night in the house due to a family emergency, but I imagine waking up to such a peaceful environment would have been lovely. We plan to come back with our kids as soon as our youngest is old enough :) read more

I did a canopy tour here this past weekend and I'll admit, I was a bit nervous at first, even after the "training school" that others have mentioned. After the first actual zipline though, any nervousness dissipated and I had a blast! Our tour guides (Robert and Eric) were pretty cool. We weren't sure at first b/c the two guys we had were making everyone shout their names at introductions and it felt a little hokey. They even used some scare tactics to freak us out when crossing the bridges and just getting us to trust them in general. It must've worked b/c after a while, we warmed up to them. I think Robert and Eric did an awesome job making it a really enjoyable experience! Also, everything felt so safe! When you're not ziplining, they use two hooks to secure you to the line at all times. So basically, you're never just standing up there in the trees unhooked. Also, no one has mentioned this, but there is a POOL outside there. Free to swim, but I don't think it's lifeguarded. There are turtles in the pool! Overall it's a very pretty place, really fun experience and $60-something was pretty dang reasonable. I'd totally go for it again! read more

This seems like a brilliant idea - speeding through an impressive array of cypress trees, hanging from a zip line. But why should about 200 seconds of glide time take almost 3 hours to complete? Here's why: TOO MUCH FRIGGIN' CONVERSATION. You go from tree to tree, they almost smother you in dork-ism by telling you you have to scream or yodel, or whatever, and the introductory instruction is not rocket science. Talk about being scared of a lawsuit... In addition, there's a science lesson - not what I signed on for, folks, I's got my education - all for $60...hmmm.... It IS great fun, but the staff, mostly being just out of high school do think they're clever, and who wants a science lesson when you're looking for a thrill? I WOULD like to try their "Canopy Challenge" when I have $75 to burn, to see if it's a little less conversation, a little more action. read more

I took my husband here for his birthday as a surprise one year. He's afraid of heights and I kept a tight lip during the drive and would give him clues like "ahh, you'll have to jump off a high platform" and he was getting pretty angry because he's afraid of heights! When we finally arrived and he found out it was a ziplining course, he had his doubts. But with the practice and learning how to brake, what to do if you go backwards, etc. the staff prepares you. Needless to say, my husband had a GREAT time! We both felt very safe and secure even though we were high off the ground and zipping from tree to tree. I brought my camera and they staff were able to alternate my husband going first and then me going first so we could both get pictures of one another zipping. In addition to zipping, the staff talks about the area, the animals, the plants so it's also educational. The last zip is the best because it's the length of 3 football fields :o) read more

I have zip lined once in Costa Rica and was so excited to hear we had one right outside of Austin. It's definitely not Costa Rica but the next best thing. I talked my two friends from L.A. to zip line. It was 4 of us, one was interviewing for a job, so we were able to get the A++ treatment as it is typically a group of 8. The instructors were very fun and knew how to calm us down. They make you feel safe and double check to make sure you are hooked on. It was a very great experience and I recommend it to anyone. If you have a fear of heights, this is a great step to facing it. We had a fabulous time on the 6 lines, the only con is that's the only course, they don't have different ones unless you want to do the challenge course. This is great for any person. I want to go back for the challenge course as it looks so much fun. Definitely worth the money. They also have a cool tent that you can stay the night in. It's like camping in a tree house. My husband and I purchased the romantic package, which included: zip lining, dinner at Apis, wine tasting at Stone House Vineyard, and a night in the Lofthaven treehouse. We absolutely LOVED the wine tasting and Apis! We would have never known about these two places had it not been for this package. Stone House is off the beaten path, but so beautiful and serene. It's a must see. Apis is now one of our top restaurant experiences- absolutely delicious!!! The zip lining was fun and our guides were super funny. The worst part was probably the treehouse. The idea is wonderful but when you have to squeeze in zip lining, wine tasting, check in at 4 pm, shower and get ready for dinner, enjoy dinner, and return to the treehouse to check out by 11am, there was zero time to actually enjoy the treehouse or the wildlife/nature. The bed was super uncomfortable- shaped like a V with the middle dipping down. The bathroom is also a VERY far walk, in the middle of the night, to walk across the suspension bridge and upstairs. The waterfall bath NEVER gets hot and the shower has hot water for a few minutes. So, we were ultimately stuck taking military showers. It was disappointing to spend $400 for something you can't be comfortable in or enjoy. I would much rather drive back to Austin and stay in a hotel with a comfortable bed and take a hot shower than stay in the Lofthaven. The best part of this package was Apis and Stone House. We will definitely return to Spicewood for the wine and food!! read more

Woo hoo! What a blast! We reserved our tour online for Saturday and drove 45 mins from downtown to get ready for the adventure. There were few groups before us so we had to wait for good 20 minutes or so. But once our turn came, they immediately helped us with the orientation and ground school. The staffs were really nice, the tour guides are very friendly and helpful, our guy Josh is especially funny and oh so cute. Besides learning how to zip, they also tells us story and backgrounf of this reserved land. It's amazing what you can see in there. We zipped through about 7 routes and oh boy did we all shout our lungs out. $65 per person sounds like an expensive activity to do on the weekend but the fun is guaranteed. We are planning to go back again to do the challenge course. read more

The place was clean and well run. Equipment was in good condition as well. The staff were young and sometimes that is a red flag for me - but they were VERY professional and did a great job!! Great safety training at the beginning so you felt comfortable. They were able to bring our small group together so no one was nervous. I could have done more zips!!! This was lots of fun. It is a nice, relaxing way to spend the day but still have lots of fun. Our guides/instructors were really nice and let us know what was going on the whole time. While we had lots of fun, And the area is beautiful! I'm glad we had the Groupon though. Not sure if it would have been worth the full price. But I would definitely do it again. read more

Went for the zip lining tour last weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday, it was the first time I had ever done this and had a blast! Very helpful for beginners, I wasn't nervous, the guides made me feel at ease. After the first zip and getting over that initial fear of letting go it was so amazing. The guides we had were Ben and Sean and they were awesome, very funny, easy to talk and joke around with, if it weren't' for the older people on the tour I'm sure I would have opened up and would have loved them even more! They made this experience all the more fun. The facilities were nice, we arrived about 45 min early, walked around the site, played with the dog, took advantage of the hammocks they have spread around the campus, played basketball...they do have a souvenir shop of sorts, and everything is outdoors, very cool place, would go again and recommend to anyone looking for a fun new experience! We paid $80 each after taxes and all, wasn't too bad, not something you want to pay every weekend but for a special occasion or trip it was well worth it. read more

My husband took me here for my birthday last Fall. I was totally looking forward to it but got a little nervous once I got up there and saw how high and how little was holding me up in between the trees! There are only 6 zip lines which was barely enough for me to get my mojo going and get over that nervous hump. It left me wanting more so I could really let it all hang loose! I guess that's good for business though. :) We had two young female guides who were quite the comediennes, but in a juvenile sort of way. Being 36, I felt like I was always missing the point of the joke... They kept me alive though. Now I want to fly to Costa Rica and experience the inspiration for Cypress Valley first hand. read more
