We drove up to Monterey to get better selection on available models of a Ford Explorer. Our local dealers had mostly gray or white cars, and we were after a red model with a light interior, since we travel to hot climes a lot. We toured around the lot while they were closed on Thanksgiving day, and scoped out the car we wanted, a bright red deluxe model with all the bells and whistles. We had an easy time making an appointment to lease the car, using a posh older Lexus in excellent condition as a trade in, for which they gave us a generous amount as a trade-in. We had a great experience with the salesman, Mike Aubuchon, who patiently negotiated part of the lease deal over the phone, so we could seal the deal when we came in. Mike was obliging at setting up convenient appointments and he was full of funny stories and experiences that he shared while we waited! The car was as promised with all the accessories we wanted. We loved the car so much after driving it for three years, that we returned to Cypress Ford and bought it! This is a dedicated, professional dealership, and we felt welcomed every step of the way through two deals. They helped us reduce the amount of time it takes to sign papers and make the deals both times, which was especially helpful as we live out of town. The workers there are also COVID distanced and wearing masks, and we were able to sign papers at a front table with Raoul, who explained each document clearly and concisely! We drove away as happy campers, on to our next adventure!

They charge markups on custom orders. Morgan Hill, Salinas Valley, and many others in the area do not. Avoid at all costs.

They alerted me to things I should do very soon, ie. an oil change and tire nail fix. Luckily I knew about those things and already had an appointment at a tire store the next day, but it's nice to know they do a general quick inspection to make sure things are good. When I got back for the pickup the mechanic was test driving the vehicle, also a sign of a good mechanic shop. The bill was exactly what I was quoted and I was happy with the price. I feel like it was a good value for getting done what I could not do myself. I think some of us, like myself, have a mechanic friend, but I chose to go here because I wanted it done right and I trust they do it right. The car i took in for service was a family van and we need it to work right and to be reliable. I don't know if everyone feels like I do that these days you always have to fight to get things done right or be prepared for something wrong or to cost extra or whatever but this was simple. Tell them what I need done, drop it off, pay for it and pick it up. I was pleasantly surprised there were no hickups.

I know this because I have been changing my own engine oil my entire life. 1) Remove the drain plug. 2) Remove old filter. 3) Install new filter. 4) Replace drain plug. 5) Add new engine oil. That is ALL it takes. As a matter of company policy, they provide a very time-consuming safety inspection. It can take up to an extra hour! Knowing this, I respectfully waived the inspection, as my wife was waiting to be picked up from her office after work at 4pm. It should have worked out fine. They told me "NO", the safety inspection was mandatory. That is like you placing a food order, and asking for no onions on your burger, and them telling you it's company policy to add onions, and your request is denied. How would THAT make you feel? I sat in their lobby for TWO HOURS! I was out the door at 5:10pm and my poor wife sat in her office for over an hour past her clock out time. That infuriated me. Sullivan's Auto does not value your time and they do not respect your wishes. Their company policy safety inspection is nothing more than an attempt to up sell you with additional parts and labor. On a previous visit to Sullivan's Auto, they requested my home address for their computer records. I declined to reveal my personal data to them. They told me, "It is California state law to have the home address of customers", and they demanded my address again. I immediately conducted my own research and discovered there was no such law. They lied to my face to get my personal data. I will never return to this disreputable business again and I emphatically suggest that you don't either.

I was traveling through town and my battery died when I tried to start my car in the hotel in the morning. I called this repair shop because I needed my battery replaced quickly, so I could get back on the road. When I first spoke to the lady, she said that she could have a battery that fit my car, delivered to the shop in under an hour and they could install it right away. This sounded like a good solution. I went to the shop, they took out the old battery and the lady said the battery was on its way and should be there soon. I went to get lunch nearby and returned an hour later. To my surprise, there was no battery in my car. I asked the lady what was going on and she said there was some mix up with the battery supplier and the battery was never sent. She said it was the suppliers fault, that she just spoke to them and they were rushing over the battery now. I just had to wait another 20 minutes. I was not happy, but mistakes happen and another 20 minutes seemed okay. Another hour went by and there was still no battery delivery. I asked her again, where is the battery. All she could say is "the guy is on his way". 30 more minutes passed and still no battery. I was very annoyed and worried, because I had been waiting 3 hours for a battery, my car was disassembled and it was already 4pm at this point. To my surprise, the lady just closed-up the office and started to walk to her car to go home, leaving me there in the shop with no idea if my car was going to be fixed. Fortunately, the battery did arrive about 30 minutes later and one of the mechanics who was still around installed it for me. As I mentioned, the mechanic was good. But the lady is terrible at taking care of customers. She most likely created the problem by not ordering the battery from the vendor correctly (although she blamed them), took no ownership of solving the problem and essentially left to go home with the problem not resolved and with a customer left hanging. Also she quoted me $500 and when the mechanic went to charge me, it was $575. But since the lady went home already he had to charge me the higher price, since nobody could reach her.
