Recently, my fiancé and I came to Cycle Tech with the tire on his bike. All my fiancé asked was to have the tube replaced, and nothing more. We had dropped off his tire around 11 A.M, not hearing anything for the next 5 hours from either of the two men working at the shop. We called around 4:40 P.M only to find out they were JUST going to work on my fiancé's tire, and less than ten minutes later they called my finance back, letting him know he was "missing his spline." We informed my fiancé's brother, who was paying for this (he even told the younger guy there that he wasn't paying at pickup. That someone else would be paying). He was confused, and we all went to pick up his tire. We had already found it weird neither one of the two guys working could explain shit to us. They couldn't explain over the phone or in person. The only thing they had said to my fiancé's brother was "if the wheel is like that, then the other part that connects to it should be damage as well too" (Drive Shaft) but when we had removed the wheel, we checked EVERYTHING, and it was not SHAVED DOWN the way they told us. We took the wheel at 11 A.M in good condition. Nothing was wrong. The normal wear and tear we have seen. But when we got back to the wheel, the "spline" in question was shaved off and damage. These guys half assed a job because they were irresponsible and lost track of time. They fucked up a part of the wheel needed. They mentioned buying the part from them or eBay. Don't come to this establishment. They won't own up to their mistakes. They find ways to scam and make a paycheck. And if you leave a bad review they might call you and try to guilt-trip you to take it down. Trust me. They got time to call and throw a tantrum for shit service they give. But they won't fix your bikes. They'll only mess them up instead of doing their job. As shown in the photos the Drive Shaft is perfectly fine and the other part of it is mess up (Hub Clutch) which they fucked it up. read more

He and his team made all my requested repairs, he found a few more and discussed them with me including all costs. After picking up my Road King, I discovered he made a few more repairs and adjustments I had not asked for. It has been years since my bike has run this well. I brought in my barely running 1986 Honda Elite scooter after 4 different shops refused to even look at it. Joe, the owner, was pleasant on the phone and pleasant in person when I dropped it off. They Picked up my motorcycle, charged $75 just to pick it up. It has been about a week so I decided to come on in myself and see what kind of joint this really is. Surprisingly, the back of the place was full of people and their motorcycles just chatting so I guess thats a good sign. I ride a Ninja so I am fussy where my bike gets serviced so to my surprise, I went inside and saw that there were many guys fixing various bikes including a few Ninjas. This to me made me smile because that means they are sensitive to the bike and respect the fact that it's not always about making money. My motorcycle is now ready. It required a few things since its been a while that I have even ridden in the streets of Chicago. Complete, he charged me $485.00 to get it together and I don't mind that at all since my bike is ready and I no longer have to worry about it giving me drama. I am really excited to know that it is now safe to ride again and that Joe and his crew took really good care to get it together and fix it as it should be. Oil change, carburetor issues, a flush and a few other things that I was told about. I like the fact that he told me about my tires starting to crack also, so of course I will be getting new tires soon. That I can appreciate too because a lot of places will not tell you for parts they don't carry in stock. He said I could ride it around but that if "it was him," thats all you need to tell me so of course I am now looking for new tires. I do appreciate the fact also that he has storage there for winter. A little bit expensive to put away for winter, compared to places I have been to but to guarantee that it should be in tip top shape in spring, I do like that of course. read more

Wow. It keeps getting worse. Now the bike makes a horrific noise when I try and start it. My bill was around 2,500 bucks and really - my bike seems worse off than when I brought it in.. Also, (this could be just an odd coincidence, but I am not convinced) I can not get on the Cycle Tech website now. I seem to have been blocked. I received a message that said my account has been suspended! I hope this is not a deliberate action and is just a computer anomaly, but suppressing, contradicting, or burying a bad review instead of trying to make good just seems to be bad business policy. read more

If I could give cycle tech -7 stars, I would. If you like your bike and don't want to waste money, I suggest you go to a different shop. First, I brought my bike in to have the clutch looked at and a few easy things fixed. When I brought my bike in, I was told I'd get a call the next day because they were going to look at it asap. 5 days went by and still no call. I called cycle tech just to get an update. Joe was so rude about it and seemed like me asking about my bike was an annoyance. 3 days later he called and said my bike was fixed. He told me the clutch was perfect and he was "ripping the bike down the street." We proceeded to tell him there is definitely a clutch issue, and he was telling us that we were wrong. He finally agreed to look at the clutch again and charged me an additional $260 for "FURTHER INSPECTION." We told them there was a clutch issue from the start, and they shouldn't have charged me additional for that because a clutch issue was the main concern we needed to fix. Also, when we picked it up they had no idea if there was even any oil in it. After knowing what had to be fixed with the clutch, he told me all the parts wouldn't be there for a while, and then called the next day saying it was finished. So they lied about having the parts in stock. The entire time cycle tech had my bike, I had to be the one initiating conversation with them because they did not communicate anything with me. Keep in mind, I'm a female and there seemed to be no men there with the same issues. There was not a point in time where I felt I was being treated fairly. Everything I said, they tried to make it sound like I didn't know what I was talking about. After all of this, he wouldn't allow me to test the work they did before I paid $851. Even though there is a sign behind the counter that says, "if we don't fix your bike, you don't pay." I just wanted to make sure everything they said was done to my bike was actually done. Upon looking at the bike, we noticed they didn't touch a few minor things that we had on the list and were charged for. Overall, a VERY poor experience. I will never return to this shop again, and I will never recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Great place! I knew of there whereabouts but had never used them for service of any kind. Had driven by many times. Anyway, I needed new tires put on my bike and didn't want to use H. D., they just seem to be top dollar for anything. I had ordered and had the tires in my possession. I called cycle tech and talked to Joe. I was given a ball park figure and told to drop off bike and they'd have it done that afternoon. Bingity boom, three hours later I get the call all done. The real important things I learned there was about bike storage, the oil starting to leak off the heads, and most importantly tire break in. Maybe spent 30 minutes talking with Joe and I find myself more informed about my bike then ever. I recommend this shop. read more

I was charged $380 to replace my ignition coil boot on a 2017 300r. I they had my bike for nearly a month waiting on the part because it was on back order, so I ended up ordering one myself and bringing it up there. After being told that the job would be $200 which in my opinion is still high for this type of job (ignition coil boot) I went to pick up my bike and was hit with the bill of $380 an some explanation of time and trouble shooting lol even after I called the same day I dropped it off and told them it was the coil boot that needed to be replaced. If you want unreasonably expansive prices and weeks of wait time this is the perfect place for you. I had a cluch done here on the same bike and it took 2 months to get my bike back . read more

Picked up our bikes from here yesterday and had such a great experience. This place was excellent with customer service throughout the storage period, fixed quite a few accessories on our bike as well as necessities from a broken clutch lever and an overheating Harley as well as other wiring and battery components. Our bikes both run like new after picking them up for the Spring and were shiny, cleaned up for us and ready to go with regards to fluids. I took my Ducati 749 in for a simple height adjustment. They told me they had to remove a faring in order to adjust the front. I paid $81 for the adjustment and when I took it home I noticed the front faring was not reinstalled correctly. The guiding pin was not in properly making the faring stick out. I also found some small scratches that weren't there before. They must have lost a bolt because it was missing one. I had to go through the whole bike checking every bolt and faring to make sure something wasnt going to fall off when I'm riding. In conclusion, the customer service and attitude was good but the work itself a little subpar. If you want them to treat your bike like a gem when they work on it this is not the place. read more

I just had my 2012 FLHR (Road King) serviced here and have all good things to report. Joe, who is the owner or manager or something (seems to run the joint), is a fountain of knowledge and a great guy to chat with. He seems to always be in a hurry, and if you stop by the shop you'll see why (they are BUSY!), but don't let that put you off. They had my bike back ready to go in under 36 hours. Plus Joe gave me tons of advice and ballpark numbers on things I want to do next winter. Do not walk in expecting it to be a Harley stealership. I did not see any free donuts or coffee, nor were there any chicks selling $300 boots and $50 tshirts. Heck I don't even think they sell bike parts. It's really an old school mechanic shop start to end and while cheaper would always be good...You can't really beat this! Also they do have a Dyno on-site and pricing for that itself was cheaper than anywhere else (other than mobile units at shows) that I've ever seen. I didn't get any pulls - was tempted - but they were busy and I really don't need a depressing dyno sheet to taunt me until winter comes around. read more

In October 2007, I got a tuneup, oil change, hydraulic flush, replaced some oil seal, replaced the clutch, and replaced the front brakes. Finally my brakes stopped squeaking since the last time I had them replaced. I paid $581 for parts and labor. It took a while to get some of the parts in, but I got my bike back in about a week. The shop was busy, and we waited a long time for service. Joe was very friendly and accommodating. Otherwise, overall good experience. read more

I was in a total bind and the owner saved the day. I live in Chicago, about 15mi from this place, but was buying a used motorcycle in the area. I contacted the garage (and the owner Joe answered). I asked him if he could do a full inspection of the bike before I bought it. Now this is amazing. Not only didnt he UP sell me, he DOWN sold me. He got some info over the phone and when he realized that the used bike only had 2500mi on it he said. "Listen. You really dont need a full inspection. Here is what I'll do for you. Bring it buy, let me look it over ... and There will be NO CHARGE". I was blown away. This is how you build a business in the service industry. So I get there and he did as he promised with NO pressure what so ever to loop me in for any services. He spent 10-15 minutes looking everyone over, getting under the bike, looking at all the major areas. Then, he took it for a test ride for 5mins. I cant say enough.
