Had an unpleasant experience at the store this afternoon. I called the store to confirm that the bike was ready before coming in to pick it up and when I got there the bike wasn't ready. There was a miscommunication and instead of resolving it with me, the store owner blamed it on me (the customer) which I'm paying for a service and was treated rudely. When I got my bike the tires weren't pumped and the chain wasn't greased and had ask for that to be done when it should be already be done! Honestly, with the amount they had already charged me and making me come back twice and how rudely I was treated, I won't be going back there again...It's too bad as it was a decent cycle shop before they had poor communication skills and start blaming on the customer and stopped doing decent extra work like pumping the tires and greasing the chain after a service. I will go elsewhere next time. read more

I needed a rear fender for my bike to go for a ride in the wet, so off to Cycle Solutions I went. They had the perfect quick-attach fender for my mountain bike for $20. Service was quick and friendly with a minimal amount of waiting in the rain curbside. I'm looking forward to going inside soon and perusing the aisles of this store! read more

Took 4 days to call me about an assessment of my bike.. (told me 3 in person which is still awfully long) Held my Ebike for 5 weeks and didn't do a damn thing while waiting for the "caliper" ... i do uber eats on a bike and really needed my bike back (which i told them) and after 5 weeks of waiting and asking them about an update all i got were "we are still waiting on the bike caliper" .. i finally got fed up and told them i needed my bike back NOW and turns out they didn't even order my bike part or were "still waiting on it" after numerous emails.. I should of known after the first phone call when they told me to email them instead of calling them because "you are taking too much time and resources from us so please email us instead of calling..." The only reason i went to Cycle Solutions in the first place was because "Bike Sauce" recommended me to them and i have high regards for Bike Sauce... Anyways I went down to Ya Bikes! at 242 Queen St E, Toronto, ON M5A 1S5 and had my bike up and repaired within a few days without even fixing my "caliper" (faster than cycle solutions took to even take a look at my bike). Man i lost over a month and week of salary because of these guys.. not recommended esp if u do Uber and need your bike back ASAP! read more

BOTTOM LINE: Friendly and fair! A solid place to look for a new set of wheels or to tune up old ones. Accessory selection mediocre. I purchased my foldable Dahon from them a few years ago and they've been exceptionally helpful and friendly with ordering replacement parts even though they no longer sell this line (conflict on the supplier end of thing, apparently). Their staff have always been welcoming and patient, and have often been happy to chat about bike maintenance and tips. They sell a whole range of bikes from racing to mountain to cruisers and to fixies - you'll likely find something you'll like here, but it's not a specialty store and you won't find anything super fancy. If you purchase your bike from them, they'll cover your annual tune-up for 2 years, which is pretty sweet. Accessory selection is just okay and I've had to go elsewhere for some things (my helmet, particular side basket, etc.), but overall, they're good at where it matters most: keeping your bike in good working condition. read more

I was standing on the street waiting for service at Cycle Solutions Parliament when a potential customer, also on the street, asked the owner, Kale, for information about a specific bike repair. The owner responded in an annoyed/ frustrated voice that if the person was not willing to wear a mask (remember this is on the side walk) that he would not be served. If your store requires potential customers to wear a mask while standing on the street, please put that on your website or store front. Also. maybe you could try to be more courteous to your customers who are following all Toronto city bylaws. read more

Seeing the many good reviews I guess I am the unlucky one here. I paid for a tube replacement and they gave me a tube with a 32mm valve. The problem with such a short valve is that I cannot pump air with a bike pump. I took it to the bike again to the store and they told me that the valve is too short and that's the problem. They assumed I did it somewhere else. I told them it was their store, but it seems they had selective hearing. The only positive is they did pump air into the bike at no charge and asked me to keep pumping air into the tire so that the valve doesn't disappear into the rim. I believe the right thing to do was to offer a replacement tube or at least replace it at a discount. Finally for a job that does not take too long I had to come the next day to pick my bike, but now I know better and shops like Cyclemania does such jobs within 30 minutes. read more

I ordered and payed for some bike components online and opted for the in store pick up. This was a HUGE mistake. Even though I already payed for my things, they were still going to make me wait in the line outside which could have taken up to 2 hours. I understand in this time of COVID things are not as they usually are but things need to change with your business model. You should have two lines. Only go because I have to. I am close to this bike shop so that makes it an obvious choice. After having been a long-time customer for many years and spending countless dollars here, I finally faced a huge repair bill over $100 at one point. I felt like I wasn't getting a good deal because all the services were being priced individually. For the amount of different services I was paying for, I should have received a break - for example I needed rear wheel work where the gears are, and then work near the pedal. Instead of being charged for labour as a total, every different thing is charged as it's own job. While the staff are generally friendly, there have been some exceptions where I have received rude or curt service. I feel that because the store knows it is the only one in the area they do not have to treat customers as well as they could or give regulars any sort of break in combination pricing. I left this shop for CycleMania on the Danforth, and then came back today to give it one more chance. After the rude service I received when I wanted an inner tube replaced, I asked for the tire back and immediately went to CycleMania where they did the job on the spot at a lower price. I am never going to Cycle Solutions again unless I have to! read more

Given that good customer service is hard to come by these days, I was surprised and impressed with my experience at Cycle Solutions. Being an idiot with tools and repair, I brought my girl's Giant cruiser in for some assistance. Shit was squeaking, and parts were loose - the bike was a mess, and I lacked the tools to facilitate a repair. Without even asking if I had bought the bike there (I hadn't), friendly dude Patrick was quick to assess the problem and fix it up. As he declined payment for the service, I chose to buy the tool from them for future use; he was helpful in this regard too, understanding that my limited skills would not require the fanciest of tool sets. This fifteen minute exchange earned Cycle Solutions my future business, and I will be back to pick up a new ride as my current shitbox is near death. Note: I came into the store near the closing hours of the day. Had it been peak hours, my experience would have likely been different. read more

One of the best shops in the city. Nice clean shop, friendly staff and no snobby feeling when you walk in. All the major brands and they can order almost anything you want. If you're a bike nut like myself, then you'll feel right at home. If you're the costco/walmart/ct kinda bike person, then this is a great starting point to get into the real thing. Brought my bike in to have slow leaks fixed on the tubeless tires. The shop only added a bit of sealant and didn't check either tire for punctures. When I picked up the bike the front tire was already soft. I asked the owner about it and he dismissed me. The next morning the tire was flat. Brought the bike back in and the owner (Kale) refused to do anything. I had to insist that they try to fix it - and only then - did they actually inspect the tire and notice that it was full of thorns. This is the work that was supposed to have been done when I dropped it off the first time. Even the greenest bike mechanic knows that. This left me in a bind whereby I was scrambling to find another tire to leave for a cycling trip. Not once did the owner apologize or accept any responsibility for the shoddy work. These guys treat you like they are doing you a favour by doing bad work on your bike. Don't waste your time with this shop, bring it to a shop that actually appreciates their customers, takes accountability and does good work. You won't find that at Cycle Solutions Parliament. read more

The staff here is super nice and very helpful, but I didn't really like the selection. First off they had very little in the way of female frames... most of their bikes were unisex mountain/road hybrid. Needless to say they didn't have many small frames. On one of my visits I was shown the "Africa Bike". It had everything I wanted... fenders, back rack, step-thru design and just under $$450. The guy helping me also explained that for every bike they sell of this model, a replica will be sent to a village in Africa. I liked the idea of helping the environment and helping a third world country... but (and this is going to sound terrible) the bike was sort of ugly. Ok maybe ugly is the wrong word, but it was very sporty looking, white and once again a hybrid model. The guy helping me sort of dismissed my aesthetic opinion of the bike and recommended I give it a test drive when I was appropriately dressed. I was wearing a below the knee dress with flats... clearly this guy did not understand that this would be the exact thing I would be wearing ridding my bike! But I was tired and in no mood to argue so I took a pamphlet and plan to return. The second time I came to this location I was greeted by another sales person who seemed a bit more in tune with my dissatisfaction with the Africa bike. I asked him if I could take her for a spin and right away he knew I hated the bike. I explained to him my last encounter and he said that he frankly did not think this was the right bike for me. For starters it had an 18" frame which at 5"1 was way too big for me. Secondly he made me lift the bike... I did it but struggled. This beast was about 45 pounds and since I lived in a basement, I would have to carry it in and out of my apartment every time I used it. He suggested the Via II by Global, which was a little bit more expensive and did not have a basket or back rack... but she was beautiful; a greenish yellow base with baby blue accents. The frame came in a step-thru and I tried a small. It was still a little too big for me, so the guy called their second location to see if they had an XS. They did and they said they would hold it for me for the day. Despite not having found what I was looking for here, I would still recommend this place, just make sure you do your research and follow your gut... read more

I bought a Krytonite lock with the cable at Cycle Solution. I also bought a Hex wrench set (at the recommendation of one of the staff) which I am very satisfied. I already had a Hex wrench set which I bought somewhere else and they were terrible. The one I bought at Cycle Solution works super fine. One thing I have noticed is that when you buy your product at a place like Cycle Solution, you are pretty much sure that the product is reliable as the staff already did the work of assessing the product and make sure it will meet their customer satisfaction (you don't get these level of comfort when you buy online or at a big store). I was also having problem with my pedal which the guy fixed it for free. When I was moving from Toronto, I asked them for a bike box and they gave it to me for free which I am so grateful for. Here's my experience here in a nutshell: I was poor having just moved back from Maryland and had very little disposable income. I had a flat tire and didn't yet know how to change it and my tire and tube needed to be replaced. Staff member who helped me found the most puncture resistant tire available for under $50, and in fact made the whole thing come in just under $50 in total. Saved me from having to walk around for the next two weeks. They go the extra mile. Whether it be price matching, finding something to fit a budget, loaning sample saddles from Specialized (awesome program) or just having that thing you need, they've got it covered. The staff are great. They're kind of like the better version of a jack of all trades store. They won't have the really high end or low end, but they've got a bit of everything and their prices are fair. Not a great range for fixies, but they're in a small store in Cabagetown which is not exactly the haven for fixie riders and they still have a couple models so I'm impressed. Good hub and tire selection, and good saddle selection. Light selection also pretty decent. Will most likely have what you need. Worth the trip read more

Cycle Solutions has saved my butt twice now. When I took my bike here for an emergency brake repair, they were ready to help and had it fixed for me in no time, within 2-3 hours. They must have oiled it or sometime for free too, because my bike left running better than it did earlier in the day. Then when I needed to buy a new lock, they were happy to attach the lock's hardware onto my frame for free and tighten up some bolts on my bike that had come a bit loose. I'm happy to support this great local shop and I'm thankful for their super helpful, friendly staff! read more

I created a yelp account just so I could express how disappointed I am at the service I received here. I have been a customer of Cycle Solutions for the last two years but am sorry to say that I will not be returning here. However recently, I went to drop off my bike for a tune up and was told that there was a backlog of orders and I would have to wait a couple of weeks to get my service, for which I agreed and placed a pre order. I gave them my email and my phone number and was told that the day before the drop off, I would receive an email reminder and a phone call reminding me of my appointment. However the email they had taken down was misspelt and I had not been receiving any reminders. Neither was I given a phone call reminding me of my appointment. Unfortunately, I remembered my appointment a couple of days later and called to see what had happened and if I could reschedule for another time. The man who answered the phone (I did not get his name) spelt out the email for me and the first time he spelt it out, I missed part of what he said and overlooked the fact that he had mixed up the spelling of my email by 2 letters. After suspecting that the email they had on file was the wrong one, I requested him to spell it out again just to confirm. To this he started getting extremely frustrated and behaved very rudely accusing me of wasting his time. I responded by saying that all I wanted was to get my bike fixed and did not want to argue with him. When he continued to insult me, I just responded by saying that I would no longer require his services and cut the call. I would like to stress here that at no point in the entire conversation was I disrespectful and said anything to provoke such a reaction. Needless to say, I am thoroughly disappointed by the service here and would recommend everyone to take your business elsewhere where they have better wait times and more courteous staff. read more

i have been a loyal customer of this chain of stores since 2000 when I bought my first NRS Air from them. Since that bike I have purchased 2 more very expensive bicycles from them and never really had a problem. I have spent more than 12,000.00 in these 2 stores and they would not warranty a simple 50.00 fender that was only 1 1/2 months old due to a warranty claim issue. for a customer to spend that amount of money and be treated like an asshole for manufacturers defect and get no new parts from the place they bought the part from is disgusting. The guy with the glasses is arrogant and rude. I would never recommend this shop nor would i ever give them money again even if i had a flat in front of their store. read more

My husband and I have gone to Cycle Solutions (Parliament) for years. They tend to do a good job, but they are so slow they have, in the past year, lost my husband's business. They take 2-3 days to fix a flat, sometimes. More recently I bought a bike there. They promised to have the bike done one day but ended up not having it finished for 2 days beyond the promised date. This is my local bike shop. I have been to countless other bike stores around Toronto including gears, dukes, trek store, sporting life bikes, etc. After shopping around at these various stores, I found the selection of bikes, both road and mountain (including 29ers) to be amazing. It's one of the only stores that sells Santa Cruz. The sales staff give an unbiased opinion of different bikes, even bikes that they don't carry, which is rare among bike shops in Toronto. When I just had to bring my bike in for a wheel rebuild, they were prompt in diagnosing the issue and fixed my bike for under the quoted price. They also kept the shop open late so that I could pick my bike up after I got off work. My only critique is that if you want a simple service on your bike in the summer, they are extremely busy and you need to make an appointment at least a week in advance, however smaller jobs they will still takecon the spot like adjusting a deraillieur, or adjusting brakes. I'm glad that this is my LBS because I would be uber mad if I had to go to dukes all the time. read more

I am also very appreciative of how women friendly this store is .By this, I mean,talk to me directly about my bike even when I am there with my partner. I'll start with my very first visit. I had just purchased a new fork for my mtb. (Obtained second hand not thru them). Popped in and asked if the fork would work properly with my bike. Response was "no", asked why not? , and was rudely told "where do you want me to start?" So i just left. Not going to deal with cranky people. Now on my second visit due to convenience of them being close to home. I needed derailleur hanger, new tube, cables, and housing. And whoa completely different experience. The staff members that I delt with, friendly, helpful, good conversation, knowledgable. Even tossed in a few lil nuts/bolts I needed that were missing on my bike, free of charge. Now they wouldn't cost hardly anything if charged for them, but its those small things that will keep me returning. In fact going there now due to my bike pump breaking ( bought at a certain membership only retailer that sells bikes/parts cheaper but honestly they just break). Just after installing new tube. !! Wow, Great Service !! My girlfriend brought her bike up to Toronto and I recently heard about Cycle Solutions so I thought I'd give it a try opposed to the other bike shop I go to. The front tire just needed a new tube and to be re-attached and the staff were really friendly to work with (not cocky, know it all's). We were able to get same day service, the store was very clean, and well stocked with good price ranges. The guy was really good to talk to and very honest about the products. Items Purchased: 700c x 35mm - 43mm tube ($6.00) Tube installation and tire reattachment ($10.00) Seat Post Bolt Cr-Mo 45mm Black Allen Key ($5.00) Kryptonite Keeper 12 LS w/bracket ($37.00) + Taxes = 65.55 ** Needless to say this will be my new GO TO shop (as they treated both of us with respect regardless of our age and biking experience since were new to biking in the city). read more

Just a warning to anyone who relies on their bike to get around the city, and appreciates an honest answer when getting their bikes serviced. I brought my bike in to these guys and seemed to get some good advice on my flat and ideas on a new tire. What's the turnaround, I ask? it will probably be ready by noon tomorrow. I can't be there until after 5 so, no problem - right? One would think the technician would know what the estimated timeframe would be... Right? Next day 5:20pm, i'm in to pick up my bike, i'm met by attitude! -- It's not ready, "did i call you to tell you it was ready? No, you told me yesterday it would be ready at noon, but I couldn't make it till 5:00... I never said that... Yes you did... and so it begins... It was like the whole team just jumped on the bandwagon, "we never told you that your bike would be ready for 5:00pm... Are you kidding me????? Who's the bloody customer here? Ok, so i'm not a jerk, I understand that bike shops are busy, especially this time of year, i'm not a moron. I do however expect some level of service from a shop, Like an estimate of when my flat can be repaired. What's a guy to do? so I left, now late for my appointment. A short while later I call back to figure out when my bike will be ready, and I get this crazy runaround, "we can't tell you when your bike will be ready". Are you kidding me? I'm thinking why the hell did you take it in the first place with such a back-log that you cant even estimate the turnaround... I got handed over to the owner/manager and he hung up on me, when i was asking for an estimate of when they could fix my flat , HUNG UP! really? Did i mention that I had a FLAT? I wasn't going in for an overhaul. To the gang at Cycle Solutions: Dudes, I know your busy, but judging from some of the other comments on this site. Bought my bike there 2 years ago. Fair price (I investigated that fully), service and set up was smooth and educational. After service has been excellent. I go there with any problems and they tell me what to do or fix themselves for a fair price. I even take in my kids bikes now if I can't figure something out. I feel like they care about selling and education together. Highly recommended! read more
