From the moment I walked in with my bicycle, the staff,in particular Dylan, paid acute attention to my explanation of certain defects and my own inability to rectify them. The switch to a twist grip gear change made sense and it was installed for my pickup next day. A subsequent minor alignment adjustment was completed in 20 minutes at no additional charge. I know these guys and I can assure you they are truly trustworthy. Peter is an avid rider and has been fixing bikes since he was 16. How he makes a living at his rates is beyond me. The rates are super low compared to any shop in the city and the work is good. It may look like a mess but that is because they are so damned good at what they do that they barely have time to sweep the floor ! Highly recommended ! Over-priced and under-friendly. An older guy who seems to be the owner does not speak to or greet his customers. 2 younger guys are approachable, but not going out of their way to give good service. They do repairs (at a high cost) and only sell new bikes (they scoff at the idea of anything "used"). The selection is small. One would imagine that a neighbourood bike shop would try a little harder. I will not be returning other than to use the free air pump outside. read more

I went here just to buy a few things, so I can't account for their repairs/tune-ups yet, though if I need one, I will go here. I came in and was greeted right away. I was looking for cycling gloves, a tool to adjust my spokes and some chain lube. The people there were very knowledgeable. At least I think so. I am unfortunately not so knowledgeable. The girl fixing a bike at the back had a glowing review of the gloves I was looking at and said that they are the best she's used yet. She also gave me tips on how to clean them (warm water wash in the laundry machine, hang to dry). For the chain lube, the guy at the counter recommended "White Lightening" because it has some wax in it that will make the lube flake off when it gets too dirty, instead of gumming up the gears like mine has. They were both very friendly and funny. We had a pretty funny conversation about opening a bike shop/funeral home. I will definitely visit again, particularly since they are a 2 minute bike ride away. The pricing seemed fair, but I haven't bought bike stuff in a while. read more

I have had no problems with this bike shop. I started coming here a couple years ago when I needed minor adjustments to my Wal-mart bike. The first time I came here, the older gentleman (with the Eastern Europeon accent) pretty much aligned my bike for free and then I decided to give the bike for tune up and they did a pretty good job. I was on the market for a new bike a few months ago and walked in to check my options. When I mentioned my requirements, they didnt try to sell me an expensive bike at all which I found really refreshing considering how everyone in this city gouges you for money. But I did end up buying a bike that was a little more highly priced and they gave me a little seat lock with it for free and I also got my first tune up for free! I also love how they give useful advice. All in all, a great place! read more

Great service, great price. The 3 guys who currently work in the shop are great. They are knowleadable, skilled, and honest - they don't do unnecessary work (like replacing chains). I get the impression they enjoy what they're doing and are happy to help. They also don't patronize you for not being a bike wiz. I had bad luck with my bike this summer and was in 5 times for a stolen wheel, stolen bike seat, two flats, and a tune up, and every time I left thinking these guys are great. I used to go to Bateman's but these guys are much better and friendlier. And cheaper. read more

Every time I come in they are friendly, patient, helpful, and judicious in the work they do. They don't do unnecessary work and they're very reasonably priced. Didn't gouge me on a quick gear recalibration of my kid's crappy-even-for-canadian-tire bike. Coulda done 90 dollars worth of work on my brakes but instead only did the 30 that was really needed. Their hours are pretty good, given they're open 9-6 six days a week. I'm just so glad these guys are around the corner. read more

I have only been here once, but I was very impressed. My old hybrid commuter bike had a flat tire, and the brakes hadn't been working well for a while, so I figured this would be a good time to fix both. It took about a day to have everything done, which was fine with me (and what the guy told me when I brought it in). When I picked my bike up, he explained what he did and why, and my bike felt noticeably better on the short ride home. Everything was reasonably priced. Last week I had a flat on my bike. I had been refilling it but it kept slowly going flat. I thought I'd try a local place for repairs since I am relatively new to the neighbourhood. It was brought in to Bicycles on St Clair at 10 am and promised for a few hours later. I went back at 6 and Hernan P.Burgos, the owner was not even aware the bike was there, had not been informed by the flighty woman working there. He told me to come back later- I did, in 30 minutes, and the bike was 'fixed'. $6 for an inner tube and $16 for labour. Yesterday it went flat again. My husband thought he'd have a look and took the inner tube out - it was old and patched. They had either just patched the old tube or simply just put air in the tube. They charged me for a new tube and did not put one in. Besides disappointing and a huge inconvenience, that is fraud. Please do not use them for service, you don't know if you'll be defrauded too. This is a small thing but who knows what they might do. I'm going back to Vince at the Bike Clinic, 800 Bloor Street West. He has never ripped me off. read more

Dudes and Gals, I'm not sure where these two negative reviews are coming from but I was very happy with the service provided. My husband and I took our bikes for a tune up after they sat on the balcony for two years, and they are now riding smoothly! We found the staff ("the young guys") to be approachable and friendly. Upon careful inspection the appropriate parts were greased, oiled and replaced. Also, their pricing was quite reasonable ($80 per bike) compared to a few other shops we contacted. In the end I have faith that if any problems arise Bicycles at St.Clair will make it right and we will use the service again. read more

Takes the prize for "Toronto's Worst Bike Shop". High prices, unfriendly staff, and shockingly little knowledge about the products they sell or bikes in general. It's worth the trip to Yonge St. to avoid this place. read more

I had my bike tuned up here and had my brakes and pedals replaced. 2 weeks later the pedals they sold me snapped. I went back to the store and asked them if they could replace the pedals for free as not even the cheapest Canadian Tire pedals would snap that soon. They refused to telling me that I bought crappy pedals and it was my own fault. Way to stick behind your product guys! It's nice to know you sell only the best! They were incredibly rude about the whole thing and basically told me I was stupid for buying product from their shop. Turns out the only stupid thing I did was support their business in the first place. read more

I have never had a problem with this bike shop. I bring in my old, used bike once or twice a year for tune-ups and small repairs. They're always pleasant, their quotes are the same as what they charge me, and they're quick on the turn-around. I'm happy to be a repeat customer. read more

These people are great people. Hernan the owner is a very nice guy and the bike manager Steve is nice, knowledgeable and a great mechanic. Very good service on getting bikes fixed.
