I've made small purchases at cycle gear before never had any problem. Today I walked in for an emergency helmet buy since my old one decided to give out while riding home from work. Long story short the screws to my visor came out. Walked in, greeted by Jay and another employee. Two very happy people. Nothing but good energy. Jay assisted me in buying a helmet. He asked what I was looking for. I gave him my pointers. He went about his business, soon as I made eye contact with him anytime he would answer my questions right away. He let me try on helmets no problem. If I was deciding between 2 he gave me pros and cons about each one. Then when I went back to being lost on which one to buy he wouldn't hover over me which I liked. I like having space to think when making a larger purchase. Ended up coming to a decision quick because of his help. I also bought a Cardo headset for my helmet. He uninstalled my old headset off my old helmet so I can sell it to someone else then proceeded to install the new cardo on my new helmet. Nothing but great vibes from Jay and an amazing help today. Walked out happy. He even helped me connect my phone before leaving just to make sure I was good to go. I definitely recommend getting help from Jay on helmets if your looking to buy. Just my opinion from experience. I will be returning to buy a jacket soon. read more

I went here to buy a helmet. I already had an idea of which I wanted but I wanted to try them on. When I told the guy working he waved his hand like there they are. Then got more condescending and obnoxious from there. I told him the features I wanted and he said that's it like it wasn't enough information. Then when I asked where the lever was for the visor he said it's on the left. Because when you ride a motorcycle you don't want to take you hand off the throttle like I never rode one. This was after I told him I had a HJC IS max which has the lever in the middle on top. When he handed me the box with my new 600$ helmet I said I wanted to try it on before I left. He got annoyed and said it's the same helmet you just tried on. This is after a whole 7 minutes of his time. I tried 2 helmets and said I'll take that one there was no one in the store so I don't know what his hurry was. Ive heard good things about this store which is why I went but I won't go back. I can spend less money and get insulted and abused. So after riding with the helmet for a week I realize I should have gotten the medium not the large that he insisted on. He never measured or looked at it in my head. He just said how does it feel. It says helmet experts on the sign. I would definitely disagree with that. read more

Last week I went to Cycle Gear for my first ever helmet purchase. I walked in there having developed a slight claustrophobia after trying on my best friend's helmet. I was honestly anxious that this was going to be the deal breaker and I will not be able to ever ride a motorcycle. I was honest about my discomfort. The salesperson was very knowledgeable and understanding, spent as much time as I needed and offered many different options while staying within my budget. I ended up finding the *perfect* helmet, both in fit and style. I also purchases gloves and a bluetooth set up. Never during this entire process did I feel pressured to spend money, or made feel like my concerns were dismissed or that I am a novice. It was a wonderful experience. I'm and older guy and maybe that was the problem. When I walked into Cycle Gear in Edison I greeted the staff and told them I was going to need help. I was getting back into riding after a 35 year absence. I told the young man I was interested in a jacket, pants, gloves and of course a helmet. I began looking at jackets without any assistance and then finally after asking a young man came over handed me a different jacket and walked away. I looked at 3 jackets and decided on one. I asked about riding pants he showed me the rack pointed to a pair and walked away. I tried on a decided on a pair and told them I would take them .At this point a salesperson would understand I was serious about buying. Next was gloves I told him what I was interested in ,he pointed to the rack and walked away. The helmet was an issue I was having trouble deciding on a helmet as I had never worn a full coverage helmet. the problem was he just seemed disinterested with my concerns and I had to continue to ask for his help as he would just constantly walk away from me . It wasn't that they were busy there was nobody in the store except for some younger group that just seemed to stop by to bench race because I could hear the conversation. I walked out feeling that if I had had the attention I would expect I might have made better choices. God forbid a salesperson should even help you try on a jacket which I guess is a long lost art. They have a great choice in apparel it's unfortunate I wasn't give the opportunity to check out all their gear because of the lack of interest on their part. I will never go back to the Edison store again. Their staff needs intense training in the art of customer service. read more

Absolutely the best place to shop for anything motorcycle related! Jen helped me so many times I can't count. She is great along with all the guys there. I'll be bringing my wife in for her gear this month Since she obviously wouldn't get on my bike in 40 degree weather lol. I trust them and they never try to upsell me instead they take me right to the great deal items. I definitely will not go anywhere else and I drive all the way from Brooklyn ny just to go there. No matter who helps you they make sure you get the right size or item and the returns are as simple as walking in and returning your stuff for the stuff you want incase you made a mistake and want something better. read more

As a new motorcycle owner, I've been here a few times buying gear. My experience has varied depending on which staff members were present. When I went to purchase my helmet, a gentleman from the UK (sorry, I forgot his name!) was extremely helpful. He answered all of my questions and showed me what to look for when sizing a helmet. I ended up buying a Shoei GT-Air and am super happy with my purchase. He was really an exceptional sales associate. I was in a few other times for gloves and a jacket and the staff present were not really engaged with the customers. What I like about this shop is that they have a nice selection and their prices are really good. I even found a jacket I loved on a closeout rack for $99. It is also nice that they have dedicated motorcycle parking right in front. My big pet peeve with this store is the lack of proper pricing on the merchandise. Not everything is priced properly, the sale signs are difficult to navigate, and some are either in the wrong spot or outdated. e.g. They will have a sale sign for 2 models of jackets and there are 6 models on that rack - confusing! They are good about honoring the price is their sign is wrong, but I don't want to bother someone to check the price of every item I'm looking at. I wish things were just priced properly and the signage was up to date. Overall I give this store 4 stars for selection, competitive pricing, and the fact that most of their sales staff is knowledgeable and friendly. read more

As the weather was getting cold, I needed help with a full face helmet. As a fairly new rider, I needed some help determining how snug a new helmet should fit. After a couple of trips, and trying on numerous helmets, I am now the proud owner of a Shoei RF-1200. Everyone in the store seemed helpful, but Jenny truly went above a beyond to make this as easy as possible. She had patience with the numerous questions I had and was kind enough to order an Arai for me which I did not take at the last second. I truly appreciate the help, and love the new helmet. They have everything, give good advice and I drive just a little further versus some of the giant places to give them my business. Amazing customer service. I went three times to Cycle Gear and I am a first timer with little knowledge about gear. I brought a friend with me to ensure that I do not get ripped off. There was no need for that. I was taken care of very well by knowledgeable associates, namely Nelson and Jenni. They didn't try to sell me things I don't need, nor did they push items on me. Both took their time to enlighten me about gear, try on different styles and price ranges of gear, and finally let me decide on what I really need/want. The first and second trip I made from NY to Edison was close to closing. Even after the "closing time", they patiently kept the store open until I was finished. Have bought a few items here on different occasions and have always been waited on and given assistance when needed. Prices are always cheaper than factory dealers. A terrific experience, my first time at Cycle gear in Edison. As a newbie motorcycle owner I had no clue on what stuff to buy when I went there in May 2016. Jennie really helped me out and took her time explaining everything about helmets, clothes and shoes in detail. She allowed me space to explore on my own after she went over everything.
