I presumed I needed a downspout at the point of the overflow and asked Wills for a quote for a downspout. Rather than give me a quote he came up to Delray Beach today to look at the problem and found that a plant had grown in the gutter and when he removed it the amount of water that came pouring out of the nearest leader tool nearly 5 minutes! That was the problem! No leader needed and I tried to give him a $10 tip for coming by which he refused. If that's not an example of great service and saving me what I anticipated was a few $100 then nothing is.

I called him over a week ago for a job, and he quoted me a fair price and scheduled a date the following week to do the work. I'm redoing my backyard and needed to coordinate his job with some stucco repair and paint work from other subs. After five days of leaving several messages and texts, he gave absolutely no reply. I'm usually willing to give somebody the benefit of the doubt. There are several reasons someone might not reply... Maybe there was an accident....maybe something happened to their family, etc. Having said that, I figured I would try to call him from a different line than the one I had been previously using to leave messages and texts from. SHOCKER!!! He picked up on the first ring, then proceeded to tell me that he had to go to Mexico because his grandmother had passed away, and he had to deliver her body down there. Wow, that is completely tragic, and I wouldn't want anybody to go through that. He also claimed he would call me back within the hour to firm things up for the next day. Well after 4+ hours, that never happened. He just continued to string me along. Based on a lot of the one-star yelp reviews I read....Somehow, I have the funny feeling that he's had a lot of relatives pass away and have to be delivered down to Mexico. If you're looking for any kind of rain gutter work to be done on your house, Marcelino and the other folks at First Choice may be a good fit for you. If you like being quoted great pricing, then ghosted, lied to, inconvenienced, and left feeling like you completely wasted your time with a moron, then give First Choice a call. Marcelino and his business will fit all those wickets perfectly. I realize times are tough for contractors and subs right now. We're in the middle of a down cycle. Honesty, integrity, and being responsible for your decisions and how they affect others go a long way these days.

To start, Steve came to our home a few weeks ago and after reviewing our property, gave us a folder with a little biography, along with a quote and a color chart. Right away, everything felt extremely professional and homely. I could tell by the folder and the way he described his company that he is passionate about what he does. He also mentioned that his two sons handle the installations, which I thought was great since it was a family run business. Initially, we had actually agreed to go with another company until I realized the other company's license was suspended because both their worker's comp and insurance expired. When I checked The Gutter Connection's license, I saw that there had NEVER been a lapse in insurance or workers' comp, which pretty much sealed the deal for me. We scheduled an appointment, and Steve's sons arrived today. They were polite, well dressed, and professional. My husband and I were happy right away. During the job, they pointed out that one of the original plans for diverting water wouldn't work as expected. We agreed upon an alternative and it turned out beautifully. After the work was done, we walked around the house and were thrilled with how clean, seamless, and beautiful everything looked. I honestly can't recommend these guys enough.
