This is the worst CVS I've ever been to. Go to literally any other CVS in the area. There is no bathroom, the checkout scene is a mess, and somehow despite this there is always a long line at the pharmacy. Any time I have the misfortune to try to fill a prescription with them, I get no communication and they often ignore it for days or weeks at a time. It takes half an hour to get someone on the phone and when they do answer they are extremely unhelpful. Do not go here. read more

Super busy at the end of the workday here in this CVS located right near the Davis MBTA station and in front of Davis Square. They're working hard to pack all the usual stuff into this shop and I'd say that the only thing that they need to do is arrange some better queue management for the registers but there really isn't much space to do it. They do have the self-checkouts and it was great to see one worker right there to manage them all. I was here for a passport photo, which I need for the visa application form I'm sending off. The gent who took the picture was calm, polite, efficient and most of all quick. He had to retake it due to a shadow on my face and apologized profusely. Good shop! read more

Don't try calling. This CVS pharmacy location can be absolutely awful. Some of the staff are wonderful but overall, this store is incredibly frustrating to deal with. As a patient with a difficult, chronic issue I am completely frustrated with the lack of customer service. I worked as a CVS pharmacy technician for 3 years, so I appreciate that it is not an easy job. However, this location does not answer their phone. I have a prescription on hold that I can not fill through the app or automated system (even though the automated system was supposed to schedule it). I called this location and had to wait 20 minutes before anyone even picked up. When I go to the pharmacy I see them deliberately ignoring the phone. As I said above, some of the staff are really great, but this store can be really frustrating! read more

I have been going here for more than a year. The pharmacy has more than once told me that they do not have my medication when I need it. With very few exceptions, the staff there are not sympathetic to the fact that they are dealing with people who depend upon medication. In 24 hours, I was also given inaccurate information upon which I relied on two separate occasions. When I spoke to the pharmacy manager about this, he was ambivalent and responded with a verbal shrug of his shoulders. I asked why they would be out of my medication given that I have automatic refills, he said there was not a whole lot he could about because the technology is just "not that great." I was here earlier today. A little after 10am, or close to 10am. The woman in front acknowledges me, and I go about my business. The manager comes around the corner, looks at me, asks the associate if she saw me, and she says yes. He then proceeds to say something about how everyone is going to walk into the back room, and how she needs to make sure she see everyone, he goes on and on. He did this in a very rude manner, and pretty much embarrassed the associate. I'm a manager myself at a different location within walking distance of the area. Please check your meds when you pick up your Rx. They filled up the wrong dose and I'm almost sure their phone line is disconnected. They NEVER answer the phone no matter when you call and how long you wait. I've waited 20 mins on some days, 30 mins on others. Nothing. Never going back here. I would say zero ..! I had to pick up my daughter's prescription that she she had sent to them almost 5 days ago . First I was on hold for almost an hour for pharmacy and then went in to find a very unprofessional pharmacist , who could not find the prescription and when I spelled out the name and the doctorate said it could not be filled as it was OTC . I knew it was not but went to the aisle she directed me and when I came back and told her it was not she said she could order it . I asked politely it has been five days ..why. was it not ordered before ? Pretty awful experience just asking a simple question. Apparently they are only allowed to give out $2 in quarters, rather than a roll or two - weird policy, but ok. The issue was the way the dude smirked and condescended me when I showed him the $20 bill I was hoping to exchange them for. "Awwww, we're only allowed $2 in quarters. It's policy." Asshole. This CVS is NOT open 24 hours... just for the record and to clarify. I've had several discussions about CVS with folks in Davis Square, and many times people suggest that it is a 24 hour store... It, actually, closes at midnight. Just sayin. As for the overall pharmacy experience... it's pretty much identical to the others... slightly different floor plan... a centimeter cleaner than like establishments. As far as pharmacies and drug stores go, I have a bit of a confession to make: I spend a senseless amount of time wandering around, slowly sauntering down each aisle, asking myself if I "need" anything...you know, while I am here. Normally, there is a purpose for heading to CVS in the first place: toilet paper, tooth paste, face wash...yet another set of Revlon Tweezers (the thin metal black variety...they are the best) because I've again misplaced them. Through my wanderings in many a CVS, Walgreens, Duane Reade (how I miss you) or Rite Aid (the vastly inferior of the four), I've discovered that not all pharmacies were created equal. The lighting, the smells, the customers, the staff and the merchandise can differ immensely and, coming now to the point of this review, the CVS Davis Square ranks somewhere in the non-descript middle of the road. I've purchased bottled water and several locks for my gym locker (yeah, I seem to lose those a lot, too), but not much else. It's super-convenient, not very well-kept and the layout seems unlike any other CVS, which I find confusing. Though I do a lot less perusing in this CVS, the location provides the necessities, without much of a walk or hassle. Be prepared for lines and hoards of people, especially during peak hours. read more

Not only that, but you restored my faith in humanity when your manager approached me once he saw me clumsily bobbling "oh, just a few things." This CVS is bright, cheery, and well stocked. As CVSes go, it's great. I just wish the company would place more of a priority on customer service. Example: I read all about those awesome battery-powered face brushes that DEEP CLEAN your skin. Then a few weeks later I saw one on sale in the CVS weekly e-mail. "Heck yes," I said, and rushed to my neighborhood CVS. I breathlessly prowled the aisles until I found the spot for this product on the shelf--and saw that it was one of the highly classified shoplifting-prone products they keep behind the register. So, off to the register I went. I told the woman behind the counter what I was looking for. She went to look on the shelves behind the counter, and returned to tell me, "I'm sorry, we don't have any of those." I didn't say anything. I didn't think she was done speaking. I was waiting for her to say, "We'll have more next week" or "Can I give you a raincheck?" or "Let me call Porter Square and see if they have any." Nope. She just stood there looking at me like, "What do you want ME to do?" So I asked, "Do you know if you'll be getting more?" (She didn't.) "Can I get a raincheck?" The answer here was yes. She had to call the manager because it was a new procedure for her. It took about 15 minutes and multiple rainchecks discarded because they were incorrectly filled out. My face brush and I were blissfully united about a month later. The spoiled-American side of me wanted to give this CVS 3 stars or even 2. Then I thought about all the people in the world who don't have running water in their houses. I got some perspective on my desire to have 24 brands of cough syrup and 10 brands of condoms available to me at any time of the day or night, and I decided to bump it up to 4 stars. What can I tell you about CVS, especially this particular CVS, that has not been mentioned before? They fail at removing the sale markers past date. This seems to catch me off-guard everytime, though you think I would've learned my lesson by now. If I let it go it is inconvenient for my budget, if I say something it is inconvenient for everyone in line behind me. I don't appreciate being put in a no-win situation when I'm just going for convenient essentials. Plus a sale, even a false one, will steer me towards brands I would not necessarily prefer. If I'm going to pay full price, I want it to be for something I actually want. Damn me for thinking I could save money here! read more

I have had the worst experiences at this pharmacy. I have never been treated so rudely and met such an unaccommodating staff. They constantly switch your medication up on you and don't tell you. Then when you leave the store and see that you have the wrong medication they will not let you return it so that you can get the correct one from another cvs. They tell you because you took it out of the store you will have to pay out of pocket to get your correct medication. When I tried to speak to the pharmacist about this he just told me there was nothing he could do then ignored me. At most other CVS pharmacies they call you if they have to switch your medication and if you do not want them to they will help you locate it at another cvs. This act of kindness does not happen at the DVS square CVS. Don't ever go to this pharmacy because they are always out of medication and extremely rude. read more

Every time I go to this CVS, it is a full out mission. If I'm driving home from work, I can not simply "stop by". There is no where to park my Humm-V. And if you want to try, the war field is a maze of one way streets. It takes you 20mins to circle the block. Parked safe at the homeland, I must complete the mission without the heavy artillery. When inside, search and recover begins. Once I locate my target, I hurry to the front only to be reminded that the mission is not yet over. I must overcome the barricade of people. While crouching behind the wall of candy, I peer to the right and see the homeland. It tempts me to avoid the barricade and dash across the war zone while trying to avoid enemy fire. But that would be too risky. I could lose it all in heartbeat, family, friends... I continue the mission as planned. Once beyond enemy lines, I make a smooth exit with the target in hand. Rarely do I feel the need to review a place as mundane as the local drugstore. I mean, how can you go wrong when you finally have a place to buy tampons and sudafed right in Davis Square? Quick and easy, just how I like it. I had to transfer a prescription to this pharmacy after I moved, called this afternoon (after unsucessfully trying to find their number on the CVS website, had to actually use Yelp for it, so thanks for that!), spoke with a very friendly pharmacist, and after a couple basic questions, she said it would be ready for me later today. Walked in, picked it up, grabbed a gallon of milk, bypassed the long line (since when is there a mad dash for toilet paper at 8pm on a Tuesday?), went to self checkout, and was outta there in 5 minutes. Easy as pie. It did strike me that the setup was a little odd and it might take some actual time to figure out where things are, but I usually reserve CVS strictly for self medicating when I refuse to be an adult and go see a doctor or if I'm overcome with a craving for a Kit Kat and I'm in the vicinity of a CVS, so I'm pretty sure I can avoid coming here for anything other than my meds if I try hard enough. It's a CVS; there's nothing extra special about it, but if it's got what you need, it keeps you coming back. read more

I wanted to write a good review, because I generally like CVS. But when I went there, on my way out, I slipped and fell really hard, because they had put out this giant sheet of cardboard near the door, which got all slippery and disintegrated from people walking in from the snow. Instead of putting down a rubber mat, they just left it there. The employee was nice, and got me some paper towels, but I still think that's a safety hazard. To be fair, the reason I was there was that I was returning an extension cord that I bought for the sole purpose of charging my laptop for one afternoon in Diesel. Guilty as charged. Obviously, Diesel needs more outlets. read more

Alright Alright..... I am giving CVS the 4 stars, because it is way better that Brooks/Rite Aid/Whatever, also sometimes in a pinch I get my toiletries, household items, and i need some seasoning once so I bought lemon pepper and my chicken was damn good. So the lines are long, its kind of expected with the mediocre services of the convenience stores around. The hours are nice and they have a nice selection for the size of the store. it sure beats having to take the 87 bus all the way to Target for detergent or cold medicine! read more
