Ever find one of those places where all great things involved in customer service come together?…read moreThis is the place. We had a unique prescription to be filled for some medical equipment and our doctor sent the script to Marra's to be filled. I reached out to them to get set up and they not only had a wide variety of options for the equipment we needed but spoke, extensively, on each of the choices so that Mr and my wife could make a fully informed decision. Not only were they informative but they were exceptionally kind, thoughtful and funny. When I went in to pick up the equipment I was blown away by the selection and the breadth of their pharmacy. It is really impressive. Never figured I'd leave a review for a pharmacy, but here I am. 10/10, they're fabulous.

Walmart didn't have my prescription - so I transferred the prescription here. They tried to tell…read moreme there was a limit on what my insurance would pay for - which was not true - and they just filled a portion of the prescription. Terrible service. Had to get a prescription written twice by my doctor and sent in again. Next time - I will stick to Walmart. I had never used Marra's before and the pharmacist was encouraging me to transfer my prescriptions here - I have 6 people in my family - so it would have been a lot. Lucky for me I didn't.

Why go to chain pharmacies when we have an awesome independent one right here in downtown Albany?…read moreYou're nobody at CVS or Walgreens but at Lincoln Pharmacy, they get to know you by name and offer quality, personalized service. Sadly, I have to deal with one of those 'online' pharmacies for my long-term prescriptions. But for everything else, including my pups' Rxs, I go to Lincoln Pharmacy. At Lincoln, they actually answer their phones. They call you back when they have questions or updates. They treat you like a real person. That's the kind of service that's lacking from so many other pharmacies. If you want to feel like your health actually matters, go to Lincoln Pharmacy.

How can it be eight years since I wrote my last review for Crestwood Pharmacy? And how can it be…read morethat in all of that time there hasn't been a single other review of the place? One reason is likely that the pharmacy's clientele seem to be an elderly population who live in the neighborhood. But could it also have something to do with my initial tentative review? At the time I praised the business for being one of the only independent pharmacies in the area. But I didn't have a lot more to say. Now Crestwood has been my family pharmacy for almost a decade, and I wouldn't dream of going any place else. Perhaps if it weren't for our sabbatical year in Princeton, I might not realize just how good we have it with this local independent operator. But while in New Jersey, I got to experience what it's like to fill prescriptions at a chain pharmacy. In a word, it was dreadful. And Crestwood was one of the things I missed about life in Albany. Not too long ago, the schools were having a lice epidemic, and my kids got the bugs. There was a local shortage of the prescription treatment, and Crestwood was out. But Jay helped me track some down by calling around to the chain pharmacies in the area. That's service that cares. And while some businesses might be reluctant to send you to their direct competitors, this move solidified my loyalty to Crestwood even further. Yes, I have to drive past several other pharmacies to get there. But I'm happy to do it. Independent pharmacies are a rare and precious thing. I hope this one keeps the faith and never sells out.

A bottle of soda cost over $2, and at other convenient stores nearby a soda it's around $1.50. In addition, the employees were not friendly. I asked if the store had a certain type of chip and the employee said in a snotty tone "You don't see it do you". I don't know why she was so nasty, but I decided to just leave after that. In conclusion, this store has small selection, overpriced drinks, and rude employees.

Trader Joe's is stepping it up these days especially if you love fresh produce. Much of it is…read moreseasonal. Some of it can be hard to find locally. A few weeks ago, I was surprised to find they were selling fresh lychees. I was skeptical. Lychees for sale and I'm not in Chinatown? They weren't quite ripe yet. I bought one carton. In hindsight, I should have bought at least two. Previously, I've only purchased lychees in any of NYC's Chinatowns and they were usually perfectly ripe or slightly past due. So I gave these new lychees a few days. They ripened and they were delicious. A week later the lychees were all gone but fresh figs were for sale. I haven't eaten figs in years so I snapped some up. There were some super ripe ones in the carton which I ate right away. Others are still ripening so I can enjoy them over time. When I went back a week later, the supply at the store has sold out. The small yellow watermelons were great, too. Now, there are varieties of Rainier or Queen Anne cherries available. They're almost always pricey no matter where you buy them. Trader Joe's gives you a choice. The larger variety costs a dollar more. I went for the smaller ones which were wonderful. I saved a dollar and since they're very ripe I'm going to turn some of them into jam. As always, the staff is friendly and very helpful. It's clean, inviting and well stocked. Thanks so much for making this summer more enjoyable and healthy with awesome varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables.
