I made an appointment yesterday and received a text shortly before the appointment today at my phone number to check in. I did so and subsequently learned that CVS had somehow confused my record with another person with a similar name who apparently lives about 3 blocks away from me -- but somehow got the phone number right. I'm confused as to how this happened -- I put the information in last night online and entered it correctly -- obviously there was no way for me to know this other person's name or address, so somehow CVS messed it up. I had to re-register and redo all of the paperwork. It wasted about a half hour of my time. I made an appointment so that my time would not be wasted, so that was pretty disappointing. The tech who did the injections was very ungentle. When you're piercing someone's skin and muscles with a needle, a heads up and a little gentleness are much appreciated. I realize he does many of these injections in a day, but he still needs to remember that he is sticking a human with a needle every time he does it. I also asked if I could get some COVID tests and was told that they did not have them in stock and I would need to come back tomorrow. So I said I didn't want them and went to a different store to try to get them. When the other store tried to run it through my insurance, it was refused, because this CVS store had already run my allotment of tests for the month, even though they didn't have them in stock and I told them never mind. So I wasted another 15 minutes waiting for the other pharmacy to tell me that the insurance was refusing the charge -- because this CVS store had run the charge against my insurance without my permission. Now I have to find time to go back tomorrow and get the tests they made my insurance pay for without my permission. More time wasted. Very disappointing experience. Definitely won't be back. read more

Here, they stock up on canned goods, paper towels, toilet tissue, denture cream and medication. Baskets and carts, slowly dragged to the check stand, with checkers moving slowly to match the customers pace. For those of you A personality types...you fellow aggressive movers and shakers...you will want to pull all of your hair out, as they check the price of sale items being rung up, pull out portfolio full of coupons, and place licked thumb to checkbook. UUUuuuUUUuuuugh. To make matters worse, you've now got the sweaty fucks from the lousy gym next door, clogging up the lines with their one drink purchase. Bitches, pleeeeeeeeease... Today, I had the lone checker...the new girl. It took her 15mins to ring up my fucking purchase of 12 items. Why? Because some twat working the pharmacy's friend kept calling for her, and my *bright as a dim light bulb* cashier kept stopping to pick up the damn phone, which she did not know how to transfer. I was two seconds away from yelling out to the caller, "Call your trick ass friend on her mutha fuckin' cellphone! This is a business you fuckin' TWAT!!" Yeah, there were actually 5 or 6 other employees floating around, pretending to straighten the aisles, and refused to help the new girl. You've gotta be kidding me. Friendly but not helpful service, odd product inventory, high prices. I was running a bit early this morning, which usually doesn't happen, and stopped by this CVS to buy some personal care essentials. I got a shower gel, body cream, but shampoo aisle made me to drop my basket and turn to online shopping once again. The problem was a lack of hair conditioner for any available brand on the shelf. I use Green Apple Head&Shoulders shampoo and conditioner in separate containers because of my long hair. 2in1 never worked for my hair, so I looked for shampoo and conditioner bottles. While there was multiple H&S shampoo options, as well as 2in1, as Classic, Curly, Green Apple and what not kind, there were no conditioner bottles for Head&Shoulders or any other shampoo brand! Anna M, whom I consulted about the matter told me she just placed the new labels and there is no conditioner at all! Wait, what? I didn't quite understand why hair conditioner wasn't in stock, as it is an essential personal care item, nothing fancy, but I refuse to shop at the place which ignores such a basic need for women hair care. Also worth noticing ridiculously high prices for shampoo and other items here. A bottle of shampoo ~$7.5 when the online price is about half of that. No more shopping at this CVS for me. read more

He is the epitome of a Customer Service professional and is a great asset to CVS. He was so quick, friendly, and MANNERABLE which is hard to find in this city, state, nation, etc.... I like this location. It's nearby and convenient; you're in and out. That's what she said. Ha! Anyway, if you come to this location and Scott is your cashier, you're in luck. He's awesome. We transferred all our prescriptions from Walgreens in San Carlos on El Camino (the one with the drive through) which is one of the busiest and worst customer service in the area. Compared to that pharmacy, this is a slow paced, mostly low traffic. This CVS has a drive through which is invaluable which you have two small kids. Otherwise, I take my two kids into the store and every minute that passes, the risk increases of either some product on a shelf being damaged or one of them wanting something they can't have and my having to carry them out of the store screaming. So, the drive through is critical during these early years of their lives - both for my blood pressure and the store's products. All in all, we are so much happier with this store than the Walgreen's drive through. We used to wait 10 to 15 minutes in the drive through there. I still haven't seen another car in the drive through at this CVS. The downside and reason I didn't put 5 stars is that when they do have more than a couple of people in line, they are used to multi-tasking or being expedient. In terms of selection, they have a great array of cosmetics, The best thing about CVS is the CVS peas ice pack. It is hands down the best ice pack I have found. They sell out quickly and you have to call ahead to find out if they have them in stock. They have one for the knee, one for the neck and a wrap around velco belt one for the lower back. This store helped me find what stores had them in stock so I could drive there and pick them up. read more

This CVS/Pharmacy is the weirdest CVS in the world. It's a combination of weirdly stocked product (who is buying this stuff) and weird customers. I sent the housemate over to pick up some NyQuil and came back with a bottle of like "Quick-E-Cold XY." This was the only NyQuil type product they had. Then another time I was in there and there were like five or six teenage dudes, like, sitting near the photolab area on chairs and were like eating ice cream out of huge boxes of ice cream. Like it was their living room or something. Another time, I saw this super sketch looking dude buying only huge bottles of alcohol and like five packages of the over the counter cold medicine and I SWEAR TO ALL THAT IS HOLY THAT I WATCHED HIM WALK OUT AND EXPECTED HIM TO GET IN A HUGE METH RV. I kind of avoid the place because it feels like a combination of an X-files/Twilight Zone episode with the other customers. BUT...the employees are really nice and friendly. This is the lowest stocked disaster cvs I've ever come to. This used to by fave but all the past employees are gone. Today I went to the maybelline section and every single lipstick was out even tho online it says it's available (ongoing theme with this Cvs). I asked the girl working there (heavyset gal with brown hair and glasses) and she says we are "probably sold out". I tell her that it shows you're in stock online to which she replies "well...it's probably in the back but the stockroom is a disaster". WTF?? This cvs has never failed me. & trust me... I literally go to cvs everyday. What really made me a happy customer is when I came really early morning like 6am to get bobby pins and hairspray for a bridal I had to do right after. I Literally forgot my bobby pins & hair spray at my salon. Every hairstylist NIGHTMARE! I got the step 5 tresseme hairspray because I've always heard that it's just as good as professional brands I've used. It was so worth it! Also thank you to the lady who helped me get bobby pins when they were out of stock on the floor. Although they weren't the right color, I managed to work it out and make it possible. I miss the longs employees that smiled, cvs kept the terrible ones, the ones with faces like a long wet weekend. These ones wouldn't smile at you if you needed a smile to keep from dying. The selection of items keeps getting worse and worse. Just before cvs bought longs they had upgraded the makeup department, now it look like 5 year olds put it together. This is a dump. A waste of my time. I stopped by this evening to do a return. "Ned" at the front register says, "we only do returns from 7am to 10pm"....it was 11:15pm, and just gotten off work. Never heard of such a thing from a 24hrs convinience store. "Ned" didnt know why this inconvinient policy was put in place. He was only "following" his manager's orders. I will be talking to "Ned's" manager tomorrow morning. If you're going to be a 24hr store, and not be able to do a simple return, then something is terribly wrong with management. Review on pharmacy only After having a problem twice with my doctor's electronic perscription, one of the pharmacist's assistants offerred to call me and confirm whether or not my perscription was ready. That extra step helped me during a stressful situation and I was very grateful. Once my perscription was successfully called in (I received a confirmation phone call from my doctor's office) CVS also called me to confirm that my perscription was ready for pick up. Bad choice for flu shot. The online appointment system is worthless as you are not given any priority over walk-ins. In my case I waited 40 minutes beyond my appointment time. Also you provide all your insurance and personal information online. However they still need to take/hold/touch your I.D. and insurance card when you check-in, plus you need to sign a waiver on a handheld device, so this is HIGH TOUCH experience. There were 14 customers all waiting on various pharmacy needs so the waiting area became overly cramped and not really space to social distance. Not worth getting flu shot at a location where you are more prone to contracting covid! Minus 100 stars. read more

This pharmacy staff has discriminated against me and been beyond disrespectful and I do not recommend them at all. The one who was checking if it was in stock- turned around to the busy staff members and showed them my prescription and said "is this the one we are out of" then just yelled to me sorry we don't have that, you can try Walgreens! " ....I asked if there's another cvs that has it in stock and she just said sorry I can't call to ask them if they have your medications. She offered no solutions and sent me to their competition.... so extremely rude and dismissive. They shouldn't be so dismissive of people who are just trying to seek out where to get the medicine they need. Very rude and will not be going back. Treat customers as people and I can't help but wonder how she would've treated me if I wasn't of color... I have been a customer of this CVS for over 12 years. Sometimes going on a daily occurrence. I have always had a great experience and come to look forward to stopping by and seeing what I've come to consider friends. Larcie, Rena (in training) and the friendly helpful ladies at the pharmacy. I am a pretty reasonable person but the experience I just had with Misty left me so upset and angry my blood pressure was 153/102 when I left .... I guess she thought I was joking when I said that dealing with her and waiting was making my blood pressure rise because she made the smart comment the medicine I was waiting for wouldn't work that quick. What should have taken 10 minutes took damn near an hour. For a prescription already approved, approval confirmed. I even had to go to the manager and I never do that. Then after she is about to take customer 50, I had to step in and ask when my prescription would be ready. Even though she knew I was waiting. When you are dealing with giving people their medicine you need to keep in mind they are there because they need to be. Debbie and Carolina have consistently provided excellent customer service. This is probably the first time I have ever received service that made me so frustrated I was so angry I could have exploded and again I was there for blood pressure medicine... I will definitely be switching my prescription pick up to a different pharmacy... probably go to Walgreens instead from here on and when I calm down I'll be writing a letter! Again I appreciate the years of great service I have received from Larcie, Debbie and Carolina. I have seen Debbie come in when she should probably be resting and Carolina maintain her lovely smile in dealing with not so nice customers as well as Larcie. Always professional and kept me coming back even if the shelf stock is sparse. Even Rena who was in training maintained her friendliness and professionalism when she had a crazy long line. She didn't greet me, didn't thank me....and when I wanted cash back, she had the nerve to get the sign that says "no cashback after 10pm" and put it on the card swiper, BEFORE handing me my money. She could have waited until after I left to do that. Very tactful, indeed. She seemed pretty nice to the guy after me, so I know she's capable of being pleasant. This cvs branch is the most inefficient and with the most rude and incompetent pharmacy staff. I called for my prescription and was informed that it will be ready for 30 minutes. I came by at a later time, actually I came by 3 days later. My prescription is not even ready. Then the following day I came back and it's still not ready instead I was told it was back ordered! My doctor is not even informed that the medications is backordered. The front desk staff is o rude and incompetent. I was assisted by the staff Elisa and she seems to not aware of what she is doing. Pharmacist on duty today is even incompetent. I am just so frustrated, I have chest pain and my rx is not even there and my doctors office is close. What an inconvenience. No matter how many times you called their pharmacy line, it's not even helpful. Very poor service! read more

When it used to be Longs Drugs, I LOVED it. Now as CVS Pharmacy? FORGET IT. The customer service is terrible and there would be 7 or 8 people at the checkout line and no one would bother to open another one. Everyone in the store moves at a glacial pace! Here's the straw that broke the camel's back (several straws actually) - I was told during a previous visit that CVS has a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee on cosmetics. It was an aha! moment because I bought mascara the week before that flaked so I didn't care for it. I told the lady I didn't have the receipt anymore but she said not to worry and they will take it back and give me credit for it. I took the mascara back to the store recently and no one knew what to do (and the lady I spoke to was not there). They said they needed the UPC code so I volunteered to get a new one to scan meanwhile leaving my other items on the counter and my credit card with the checkout lady. The lady decided to ring up another customer BUT left my purchases on the counter and she also put my credit card INSIDE the bag. Who does that? The customer took all the bags in front of him including my bag with my credit card in it. When I asked for my credit card, this lady got frazzled because she realized the bag was gone. ARGGGHHH!!! I was calling the credit company by this point to cancel the card and I gave the checkout lady my business card and pointed out that my cell number was on it. I requested that they call me if the other customer returns the credit card. She flips over my business card and ASKED me for my phone number... Heeeellllloooo? It's on the dang business card! I gave up and walked out of the store. The Store Manager was there but did not even offer an apology. I will NEVER walk into the CVS Pharmacy in San Mateo again. Do yourself a favor, go to Walgreen's instead. It's only a street away from this pharmacy. At least, the Walgreen's staff knows what they are doing. read more

I usually don't go to this CVS but sometimes on my way home from work late at night I'll stop here to get a few items. The customer service wasn't existent, & when it was it was just okay. I'll be standing at the register ringing their bell for 10 mins before someone comes from out of no where. The most recent time my bf and I went in, & we were standing in line, we each had a couple items, the shift supervisor opened up to help the "next customer" since the two of us walked over at the same time he got all huffy puffy not realizing we were together. He rang up the items, processed it, and didn't realize there were a few more things he left out. He acted like a child and was again huffy puffy tossing their mile long receipts at us. Went there the next night, he was there and had the same attitude with other customers. Weird. read more

Excellent pharmacy staff! I flew into town last minute and needed a prescription transfered from NYC and I only had 20 minutes before the pharmacy in NYC closed. They were able to do it right away and gave me no gruff about it. Thanks Longs! The store also looks great since they remodled it and has a really large selection of beauty products (including a bunch of organic lines now like Alba, Nature's Gate, etc) and a big grocery section too (and they also sell alcohol). I also got some products at a great bargain from the clearance racks. Great store! read more

This Longs has most of your general needs. It's much better stocked than the Wallgreens a block away, so when I'm at my grandma's house, I prefer to go here. Driving in and out from El Camino is a bit confusing between the Longs traffic and the Mollie Stones traffic. read more
