This CVS store is by far the BEST managed & the BEST run store that I have found in ALL of the SF Bay Area! The front of the store manager, who unfortunately was not here today, has always been full of suggestions in the cosmetics department and in the beauty aisles. she has never steered me wrong when selecting a color that I needed when I couldn't see my own skin tone from the lights in the store and she's been nothing but helpful and friendly and greets everybody. I'm sorry I missed her today. It was a bittersweet day, as I came in today to pick up the LAST PRESCRIPTION that I would get from this store, since relocating back to San Jose. Lord knows that I have had quite a few prescriptions billed over this past year and I was so glad to have a team like this one care for my prescription needs. I was so blessed to see that ALL "my girls" were working the same shift & at the pharmacy counter in the back working together (like a well-oiled machine). I immediately let them know of the good news that I found a room for rent for a one year lease and not have to be traveling so much as they've been used to hearing me talk about. They were all very happy for me. You see, I'd had to have quite a few different medications over the last year and the team at the pharmacy have never been anything short of SPECTACULAR! friendly, warm, upbeat, helpful, caring and like friends/daughters to me! I only started coming here to this pharmacy in March of 2018 when I moved up this way, so it's been about 10 months that we've gotten to know each other. I really am sad to go. This dynamic team knew my name, always knew what had been the latest with me, and would ask me how things were going with whatever was going on in my life, etc.! (Even today, a young lady I hadn't seen in awhile asked me if "I was still working for that lady?" - I knew who she was talking about, but I wasn't, but it was nice that she even could remember that.) I was so glad that I got to give them each and individual hug and thank them so much for being such a rock star team! The pharmacist, she even came out and gave me a hug and told me to have a good here and that she was happy for me. This team really needs to be commemorated and rewarded for their hard effort and customer service! in this day and age it is very very difficult to find good customer service and ask somebody that has been in this industry for many many years, I see a team that as given me hope once again for knowing what good customer service is truly truly all about! Generally if I need help locating something in the store I get help fairly quickly. Never had a problem with the pharmacy. But up front where you check out - one of the clerks "Dorothy" has a big mouth. Will not stop talking. Every move I make has a reaction from her. I wanted to get cash back last week. Stuck in my debit card. No cash back. She says it's because it is a credit card. The debot card was issued from WF and is connected to my checking account. I cannot "charge" something on it. She insisted it was a credit card. I told her my debit card works everywhere else but CVS. Then I was berated for not knowing the difference between a debit card and a credit card. REVIEWER # 26 This CVS is in a convenient area in San Carlos. I used to come here frequently when I worked in the area. The staff here are always nice and helpful. The aisles are always well stocked and I never had to run out of them running out of anything. I come here to pick up my medication at times and the pharmacist are always very nice. Big S/O to the cashier associates, especially Bob and Misha, she is a sweetheart, very cheerful and energized, no matter what time of the day it is. There never seems to be a long line and if there is, associates come quickly to open another line. Things are easy to find because of the signs on the top of the aisles. If you need the bathrooms there located in the back. I would admit that the building does need some improvements, but it does the job for the things that I need. FYI: They offer plenty of parking in the parking lot. read more

This is good overall basic store for those in San Carlos. They have most of the things you would expect as well as some electronics, foodstuff and an unusually large cosmetic section. Always crowded. At first I thought switching from Walgreens to CVS would be a great idea - WRONG!! At least Walgreens is open 24/7 with a drive through and although they have messed up once in not refilling my order, they can at least find my account. The staff here as Nick M. mentioned in his review is terrible. I picked up medication and the person helping me had a hard time with my flexible spending credit card as I had other items to buy where I had to instruct her that if I swipe my card it will deduct the portion that is reimbursable from my flex acct and have a remaining balance where I pay the rest on my personal cc. To make the transaction more complex, I had a CVS coupon where another lady (young brunette gal) who was very competent, helped her out (Strike 1 for pharm staff, yah for young brunette gal for solving the issue). Next visit, I informed the pharmacy staff that my husband is allergic to certain drugs and what do they do? They write it on a piece of paper instead of going into the system to fix it right away (bc there was a line). How do I know you will actually enter that information in the system when I leave and this is serious stuff. (Strike 2) I called to check on a refill and the staff said my husband didn't have an account - I seriously argued with the staff for over 3 minutes and stated he does have an account and that we picked up medication from there before... ugh. In the end, there were 2 accounts set up for my husband with different information - wow, really? (Strike 3) Heading back to Walgreens where it's just a tad bit better. Only good thing about CVS is that there are coupons when you use your CVS card and great savings at times. Cashier Kyle is always very nice and helpful - he refilled the rewards machines when both were out of paper. The worst pharmacy I have ever used! I used to like this pharmacy and all my prescriptions were filled there. I have been here for 5 years from San Diego. In San Diego CVS was my go to pharmacy. I had a liver transplsant in 2013 and have been on many different medications. My pharmacy is extremely important. Over the last 3 years this pharmacy has consistantly gone down hill in every way. I have actualy been put on hold by them for as long as 40 minutes. Never under 15 minutes. The excuse was that they are short staffed. I have stood in line for 20 minutes waiting for my prescription after being notified it was ready. This has happened many times. I needed information on 1 medication and waited for 15 minutes. The kid that waited on me could give me no information as he was not a pharmacist. The actual pharmacist was busy giving flue vaccines. On many occasions the staff was just rude and inefective. I ended up getting all my meds turned over to Publix which campared to CVS was awesome. I would advise anyone not to use this pharmacy. . read more

COVID-19 update. I appreciate this CVS store even more now, during COVID-19 shelter in place. The people who work there are hard working and helpful. The opening hours are long, so you can avoid crowds. Disinfectant wipes at the door. They quickly adapted the store to help with social distancing (6 foot markers to space out any check-out queue. Contactless payment at pharmacy. The store is surprisingly well stocked with food - although was out of some items, like wipes, last time I went, but not their fault; everyone is. And of course, great prices on Easter Candy, and the reliable fun of unscrolling your 6 feet of cash register receipt to see what discounts you've earned for next time! -- Hey, there's a 6 foot social distancing tape measure if you need one! read more

The service at the pharmacy is pretty horrendous: 1. Consistently long lines. I mean, it's common to have to stand in line at a pharmacy, but this place is chronically understaffed. And the few staff they have move super slowly. 2. No communication interface with other CVS stores. My doctor had sent a prescription to the CVS in Sharon Heights (which is generally pretty good btw), which I had been led to believe was in San Carlos, so I went there. This was, for them, a huge unsolvable headscratcher mystery - as in, their systems are so primitive that the prescription sent to the other store did not show up in it. Why fill at a national chain if you don't even have the benefit of, well, the chain? 3. Today's experience, which was the last straw. I had a new prescription sent in by my doc, and they told me by law they couldn't sell it to me until I talked to the pharmacist - but the pharmacist wasn't around, so too bad. "Maybe you want to hang around a half hour til he gets back from lunch." Uh, no thanks. There are a ton of pharmacies out there, good people. Find yourselves a better one. read more

If you are constantly confused, are rude, and have poor communication skills, then you should definitely go work at the pharmacy here. This pharmacy has constantly screwed up my prescriptions. On many occasions I've gone out of my way to pick up a refill (after I've gotten a "courtesy call" telling me it's ready) only to find that it's either not ready or they have replaced my prescription with one that costs more than double. I'm tired of hearing "are you sure you called it in" or "do you think this one will be OK?" I'm not a Dr. or a Pharmacist, so I expect them to be the experts. Out of the blue my neighbor asked me if I'd ever been here. When I said yes, he asked me what the hell they were smoking. We will both transfer our prescriptions to Walgreen's. read more

I have been using CVS since I moved to This area about 10 years ago. The pharmacy has been getting worse every year. I am about to change to another pharmacy because even before COVID-19 my phone calls have not been answered. My prescriptions have not been filled at the same time so I have to make multiple trips to pickup so calling is the best way for me to make sure all my prescriptions are filled. I understand COVID-19 is effecting every business but this is a pre COVID-19 issue. Pillpack.com may be my new choice even though I am not a big fan of AMAZON. Before this place remodeled itself, this place smelled like rotten ass. The worst part about coming in to a store smelling like rotten ass is when they don't have the basic thing a drug store should have available. Since I made the drive here, I felt stupid leaving empty handed. So now I'm waiting in line, smelling rotten ass, holding a magazine. Now I feel like I'm on the crapper without producing nature. Week 1: Longs drugs. I'll go get some Q-tips. They don't have Q-tips here? What is that smell? I'll get this magazine before I go. What's up with this line? Week 2: They don't have anything I need. What is going on? I guess they'll re-stock when the place is finished. What is that smell? Week 3: Why am I still coming here. Okay, seriously, what is that smell? Week 4: Finally! CVS is here. I guess I'll use my CVS card here. Oh wait, they still don't have anything I need. You know, like Q-tips, batteries, and soaps other than Dove. At least I'll know where to get my life time supply of CVS brand gummy bears. Now that it's November, the place is brightly lit and no longer reeks of rotten ass. Most of the staffs are friendly but should be properly trained to sub for someone else in certain departments if they are on a break. Also, the lines get pretty hectic, and they should really stop chatting with people because if the only time you get to socialize with someone is at a CVS near you, you should go talk to a cat. One thing major they should really ask for is NOT if you have a CVS card, but when doing so, they should ask the customers to give out a telephone number when signing up. They never do this! So if you forget to bring the card, they'd ask for you number then, which makes no sense because they never asked you in the first place. PS. I don't live here people. read more

One of the more well organized and clean drug stores around. Staffers often come up to ask if they can help with anything or will just say, "Hi, how's it going" if you catch their eye while they are stocking the shelf. I'm less thrilled with the layout and variety after the remodel but maybe it was necessary in order for them to stay open later. (More open and narrower, single entrance/exit.) I'll always go here first before Walgreen's or the other Longs for anything I might need. Yea, Walgreen's is open 24 hours, but then again, you get what you ask for. read more

at 700pm on jun 9th 2021 I needed to grab milk for my daughter because she ran out and luckly there is a cvs across from where i live. I happened to observe that they had a really good collection of beard supplies and natural soaps in one of the areas. while i was checking out what they had i observed that one of the workers and older maybe middle eastern lady with glasses and a wristband watching me as if i was doing something suspicious. she approached me and asked if I was looking for something and informed her that i was ok but she continued to watch me and ask again if i needed something. i asked her if everything was ok with a thumbs up and she answered in an agitated response. i just said uuh ok and continued to finish my purchases. never have I ever felt so disrespected and uncomfortable buying something from a store. if you have something you are sponsoring in your store and want people to be interested in the products you sell its not right to make a person feel as if they are doing something wrong even though they are just browsing products that they are interested in. read more

I moved to the area a few weeks ago, and I've decided this is my pharmacy since I can walk here. But I am not sure I made the best choice. The pharmacy part of this CVS is extremely busy. I've been here at all times of the day and week, and have always found at least 3 people in line ahead of me. Sometimes there are 6 people in line. Something that's odd is if you're picking up a prescription, you can't also just ask them to put in a refill for something else. They will make you go stand in another line and talk to someone else. On the plus side, the rest of the store is big, nice and has a lot of products. I've found everything I was looking for. read more

I agree that its a clean, and well lit store. The remodel is nice. Most recently, I found the pharmacy situation irritating. I inquired if a certain medication could be found without sweeteners; everything had either sorbitol or another fake sweetener, which are migraine triggers for me. The pharmacist seemed both annoyed at the question, and annoyed that I wouldn't accept the answer of "well, no one would buy that if it didn't have some sweetener in it, it doesn't taste good." After going around a few times on that, there was still no answer to my actual question. And no offer to help me find anything that might help me out. So I left without buying anything. read more

The pharmacy here is completely INCOMPETENT! After dropping off my prescription 5 days ago and making 3 separate trips to pickup the medicine, I have nothing!! In fact, I have to go back to the doctor and get a new prescription. The first trip was to drop off my prescription. I handed over my prescription and waited while the young, bald guy with glasses entered my health info into the computer (well, I thought that was what he doing). He told me to come back the next day, so I did. The next day, they couldn't find my prescription, AND I wasn't in their computer system. They said they would call my doctor for the prescription and give me a call the next day to let me know it was ready. I wrote down all my info and the exact name of the medication. The next day they called a half hour before they closed to let me know I could pickup the medicine. I didn't bother getting out of my pj's. Two days later I went to pickup the medicine. They handed me the WRONG MEDICINE! They handed me an inhaler.... definitely NOT what my ob/gyn prescribed! AVOID THIS PHARMACY!! read more

If I could give Long's/CVS pharmacy negative stars I would. I have yet to go and simply pick up a prescription. A refill is not rocket science. Typically I wait in a long line just to find out my prescription has not been filled. I live within walking distance of this pharmacy and am still going to elect to get in my car in order to find a pharmacy with a competent staff and decent customer service. This particular one is staffed by the rudest, most impatient, and unfriendly individuals I have had the unfortunate experience of encountering. From the pharmacy (which seems to be in a perpetual state of chaos) to the cashiers, customers seem to be a pose a monumental annoyance to those working at this location. I agree with the previous poster, do not go here for passport photos. They are extremely incompetent and after numerous attempts we left without photos!! The most friendly Longs I've been to - I was walking around the store yesterday and 3 employees came up at separate times and asked me if I they can help me find anything. I'm lucky if even one person comes up and asks me that at other Longs or Walgreens. Now I have noticed that you get better service from the older workers and not as much from the teenagers they employ sometimes so that may explain Irene's comment. I took my parents here for their flu shot on a Tuesday about 3:00. Maybe we picked a bad time and the morning would have been better, but the only guy who seemed to know what he was doing was leaving for lunch (although he did stay and help out for a while). It seemed to take a long time for the number of people that were there, but it was my parents' first time and it might have been faster if they were already in the system. At least they have chairs for the (primarily) elderly customers to sit at and the shot was free with most insurance. This is such a frustrating location to me. Which totally stinks because the location is very convenient and I find myself needing to cone here often. What is so frustrating though is the staff! There is one younger girl who has been there for years and is so incredibly rude at the register every time, and just seems unhappy. Then today another lady was working the register and she was on the phone and talking to other employees and just seemed like she did not know what she was doing at all and it took forever for me to get through the line (and there was only one customer ahead of me) I would love to see some improvements among the staff here as recently I have found myself trying to brave the Walgreen's parking lot in order to avoid this place, but really this location is so much more convenient, if only the staff were better I would make this my go to again. read more

It took my husband 40 minutes of trying to help the staff figure out how to zoom the pictures correctly until a manager finally came and was able to do it. I have been going to this CVS, which used to be called Longs Drugs Store, since 2001. I am not sure what has happened in the last 18 years, but the service now is horrible. I walked in tonight asking about passport photos. Instead of a friendly response, I got snapped at. It really isn't the friendly neighborhood drug store it use to be. People like Pharmacy Ryan and Gerdie use to be so lovely and always greeted you with a smile. So sad. read more

The blah- So I am not thrilled with the changes since Long's died. There are some inventory items that no longer are in stock which is a pain. The yay!- I go here mostly for their pharmacy since it is conveniently located. Sometimes the line can take for-ev-er. Other times though you may get Ryan who seems to be the pharmacy master. He is super quick, and will actually handle any issues you have (insurance, drs office etc). Also one of the Pharmacists- Robert Siskin (possibly of the old Siskin Pharmacy in San Carlos that has since closed) is VERY helpful and patient. Basically- For a neighborhood store it gets the job done. I don't stock up on anything here because the prices aren't that reasonable. But if you need medications and you can get the Pharmacy Ninjas to help you, then you will be pleased. read more

Some of the staff has their quirks but everyone that work at this location is ready to help anyone who walks in the door. Products are always stocked. Store is always clean. Even the pharmacy workers are nice an quick. As a business that attracts all sorts of people in different life stages, mostly the elderly and down on luck variety, this store builds relationships with everyone. It definitely beats going to the Walgreens down the road. Keep up the great work! read more

I took my infant in this morning for passport photos and as soon as the lady who takes the photos walked up and saw my stroller she said she wouldn't do it. She then walked away to get another associate. When she returned she told me that no one will take the photo because "it's too hard". She didn't even offer to try. I told her it really wasn't that hard and I'd do it myself if I wasn't in a rush. I then went to Costco, the photo technician had me put a white cloth in the car seat and lay the baby on top. That's it. For the sake of customer service, I think CVS associates should at least try to accommodate a passport photo request or there needs to be a firm policy in place. Apparently, a CVS up the street will take the extra step to help a customer. read more

I've used CVS pharmacies in multiple states, and have often bemoaned the long lines and uneven service. This CVS has several knowledgeable pharmacists who deserve special mention for going the extra mile, including handling complex insurance issues with grace and staying past the end of their shift to finish helping a customer. The checkout staff appear to have been recently retrained to raise customer service standards, e.g., to greet customers when entering and always ask if you found everything you wanted. Most seem happy to work there. This CVS also has an unusually wide array of items, from oddball imported foods to outdoor furniture cushions and flower seeds to household goods (I recently scored a nonslip bathmat there after looking in vain at several stores). So, while I often wish I could just get all my prescriptions online, this CVS is almost pleasant to visit. read more
