I don't know if this pharmacy is chronically understaffed or chronically overcrowded, but everything always seems to take way longer than it needs to. At my regular Safeway pharmacy location, I can pick up a prescription in under 3 minutes, and if there's a line they bring in another person from the back to help customers. The other night I spent more than 15 minutes in line while both people on staff worked on one customer - I wasn't even acknowledged during the wait and there was no recognition of the wait time, either. I visited again for a vaccine which wasn't as slow, but the vaccine room was literally under construction - missing ceiling tiles and ladder and all - which was quite odd and not very clean. They definitely need more people in order to provide decent service. read more

This pharmacy does a great job making sure my meds are ready informing me via text. Calling Dr when my refills run out. Staff is very friendly. They also keep me updated on my vaccinations , I mean who does this.. this pharmacy does. Thanks to all . read more

This Safeway, I don't like to go to to pick up prescription, but it's the closest one to my home. The pharmacist is usually rude and often not helpful. Safeway might should give them an extra person to help. Maybe that would make them more pleasant with customers. read more

Before I describe this pharmacy, I should describe my perspective. I am an educated, reasonable, understanding, respectful, and forgiving person (to a fault) who takes responsibility for my actions, and I am neither a snowflake nor a criminal. I simply suffer from a severe neurodevelopment disorder (ADHD) and, like anyone else with an incurable condition that can be treated with medication, I require the services of a pharmacy to fill my prescriptions to help manage the symptoms of my disorder. Regarding this pharmacy, even though most of the staff members here are very friendly and genuinely caring (to a point), I have consistently experienced systemic discrimination at this location. This pharmacy does not treat me like any other patient who deserves adequate assistance to get their prescriptions filled. Instead, I am treated as though my physician's diagnosis is fictional and my prescribed medication is elective and unnecessary. Time after time, whoever is in charge acts as though simply filling my prescription on time would require some kind of extraordinary special service from them, and the very real suffering I endure when I do not have my medication is callously ignored. I have seen little to no evidence that the staff actually care whether the service they provide me is adequate, even though being unmedicated results in many significant adverse effects for me, including impaired cognitive functioning, emotional dysregulation, and increased mortality. I fully understand that my medication is a controlled substance that has tragically been over prescribed and that it is currently in short supply. I don't expect any pharmacy to be able to circumvent the law or make the shortage disappear. However, I do expect pharmacy staff to act professionally and honestly and not blame someone else when they make mistakes navigating an admittedly complicated process, such as when they make factually incorrect statements that they have not attempted to verify or when they drop the ball on an in-progress order without ever following up, both of which have occurred multiple times. Moreover, I expect the feedback about my experience that I have offered to be given due consideration. Instead, it has been immediately contradicted and dismissed out of hand. The nationwide circumstances surrounding my medication are challenging for everyone involved. However, professionals need to take responsibility for the quality of their work in light of these challenges, and not blame me, a patient, for the challenges that they are facing. Not only are the challenges not my fault, they have far greater impact on me than they do on pharmacy staff. I believe that the biases I have encountered are probably unconscious and that the pharmacy staff members truly believe that they are doing the best they can. Nonetheless, I doubt I would be treated this way if I required insulin to manage diabetes. Unfair treatment based on an individual's diagnosis is discrimination, and it harms not only me but our society. Although tackling unconscious and systemic prejudice is difficult and painful, I urge both Safeway and the pharmacy staff to address their harmful policies and attitudes. I have always been a fan of this pharmacy but the turnover in pharmacy techs has changed this location from efficient and pleasant to slow and aggravating. Newish guy is painfully slow and borderline rude. Today, before he could wait on me he had to arrange bags, hunt for receipt paper and have a convo with the pharmacist. I had been waiting 10 min. Then, when it was my turn he just stared at me. I said, I'm here for a pickup. He leaned over and just looked at me. I had to ask him, what info do you want to look me up. Awkward as heck. Every time I pick up a med and he is working, I can count on waiting way longer than I ever have before. read more

Omg went yesterday to get my Booster there , the guy was so weird first mask was not wearing properly uncover nose , I did ask if anyone was at the window he was so mean the way he responds. Not only that he was the one to give me the booster awful I did ask if I need to stay after the 15min , he's answer was NO .I was seriously just imagine if one the way back something happened , this is new we don't have idea how our body is going to respond. Was prescribed 2 very important medications. Went to pick them up and only one was available. They never bothered to call or tell me that they would not be able to supply it. Not good when a pharmacy drops the ball with something that could be potentially life threatening. read more

I get vaccinations and prescriptions at the Belmont Safeway Pharmacy. The pharmacist is always very nice and I am waited on promptly. I recommend this pharmacy, although it is best to go before evening. They are a little short on staff. read more

Absolutely nightmare experience. Wife gets automated call saying her prescription has been recalled and to bring it back to Safeway so it can be replaced. I show up with her prescriptions in hand. Pharmacist looks at them and tells me that the recall is only particular lot numbers and they don't put the lot #'s on the prescription bottle. (WTF?) They 'usually' don't carry the variety in the recall, so she's fairly confident our prescription is still good. I tell her that this is medicine and this ambiguity doesn't make me feel comfortable when we are talking about life and death. She then throws some more excuses for good measure.... -I have a limited supply of that medicine, or else I'd give you some. -Sorry, we are really short-handed today. -Here's the manufacturer's number, you can call them about the recall and see if they will send you more medicine. THIS PHARMACY MAY VERY WELL KILL SOMEONE SOON! We have moved most of our medicine to Wallgreens across the street. Have had much better experiences there. read more

I have been going to this Pharmacy for many years now and it has steadily gone down in customer service. Sometimes prescriptions aren't getting filled or they're taking a very long time and the staff is very unsympathetic and inefficient in how they handle calls. read more

This is the worst Safeway pharmacy I've ever used. I used to use the one on Ralston Alameda before they closed it, And I never had any problems at that Safeway pharmacy. But for some reason everytime my doctor calls in a prescription for this pharmacy, they claim they never got it. And they always blame me or the doctor for sending it to the wrong pharmacy. And then I always have to call my doctor back and they're like yes we sent it to that pharmacy the correct one. And I call them back and they always have an attitude like they're annoyed that I'm calling. Like oh I'm sorry that I need my medicine. It's unacceptable. What if somebody needs their life saving medicine like insulin or something they can't go a day without? And these people are just so yeah sorry we didn't get it. Why are they unable to do the one job that they have? I am horrified at their lack of ability to do their job as well as the rude attitudes that they had whenever I call. I'm always very polite on the phone. I will never use this pharmacy again I'm switching to Walgreens. I rarely ever get one star reviews but this Pharmacy deserves it. I'm currently sick and feeling like I'm dying because I wasn't able to get my Covid medicine yesterday from this pharmacy because "they never got the prescription".
